But at the end of the day, these adversities have moulded you to become a better person, no? I used to work at a shitty bowling alley that didn't care for me but it helped me in my social/communication skills tremendously. Now I take pride in those struggles because it helped set my professional foundation and I'm halfway through my CPA modules. What I take away from your video is that I need to take my preparation for the CFE very seriously because so far I've been half-assing it.

I am also thinking to pass CFA level 1 next year. I am just wondering if that would be helpful or not? I am ok with the studies and exams, but I am just a bit worried about work experience part as many factors might be involved, and I am not major in business related. Also, I am not good at socializing. Really hope to get some advises, like if you could restart something again, what would you do? Sorry for the long paragraph, thank you so much! : )

    Why did you move from calgary, was there any problem to find a job here?

    • @careerbyheywood
      @careerbyheywood  Před rokem

      I moved because I wasn't that interested in oil and gas, which was the dominant industry in Calgary and wanted to try something new.

    I am currently an unergrad in haskayne and I was wondering if the job you mentioned during your 3rd year is the same as the co-op program or is it outside of school?

    • @careerbyheywood

      Hi Janaalissa,
      Yes, the job I got in my 3rd year of university was from the co-op program. Being part of the co-op program gives you access to more roles, specifically for students in the program.
      However, you can still find an internship/work term without getting in to the program.

      1. Accounting and Finance degrees are separate. It will take at least 3 yrs to get your accounting degree starting from scratch. Finance is similar.
      2. There are more employment opportunities in the densely populated cities in Canada, like Vancouver and Toronto.
      3. Cost per term/semester for small colleges: 3-4k (3-5 months per term). Cost per term for big colleges/universities: 10-21k
      Cost per term for international students at small colleges: 10-15k per term.
      Hope that answers your questions. For best reference, look up the post secondary of interest for your son. All the info he needs will be there.

    I always wonder about the income of a CPA ..how much a person can make annually after becoming a CPA ?

    • @careerbyheywood
      @careerbyheywood  Před 3 lety

      There's a lot of factors that have to be consider in addition to your CPA, including your experience, location, what industry you are in, and what type of responsibilities you have. So there's no fixed answer, unless you can pinpoint a specific type of position
