very helpful. good directions, good light, good pace, no crazy tangents.
Thank you very much for the feedback. I do appreciate it.
I've had my Naga Chroma for about 6 years now.
In the past I had problems with the mouse wheel, where scrolling either way would wildly flicker up and down instead of smoothly in one direction. Blowing a little compressed air into the sides of the mouse wheel (or doing the same with a plastic straw) fixed it momentarily but not permanently.
In the last couple of months I have been having additional problems whereby a few of the side panel buttons (7, 8, 9 and 10) were unresponsive - they'd register presses very rarely. Also it would stop tracking multiple times per hour for seconds at a time.
I used this guide to take it apart, use compressed air to thoroughly clean it (around the tracker dust had built up, around the mouse wheel cat hairs had gotten inside from my cat often sleeping on top of the mouse for whatever reason), and took apart the housing around the side buttons to air clean it, as well as clean the little bits of dirt and grime from the side buttons themselves and reattach the wire to make sure it was in securly.
Put it all back together and it's working like new, none of the issues persist.
Have to say I don't like Razer keyboards but this mouse is a credit to them, it has lasted 6 years and all it required was a single instance of basic disassembly and cleaning to work like new.
Thanks for the guide!
broke the mouse before watching this video... threw it out the bedroom... thanks for the advice
LOL
Fucking idiot lol
I had the tracking issue. Hated this mouse from the day I bought it when it did this. Yesterday I said enough is enough, so I tried to fix it again. Everywhere people are saying that you should re calibrate it on a mouse pad.....Well this only worked for a while then I needed to re calibrate it again.
Here is how I fixed the issue it seems:
1. Uninstall Razer synapse.
2. Press the middle, right and left mouse button at the same time to reset it.
3. Go into your device manager of your computer.
4. Under mice and other pointing devices, uninstall the current device (mine didn't say Razer Naga).
5. After it is uninstalled plug your mouse into an other usb port.
6. After the mouse has installed the issue would be fixed.
7. Reinstall synapse.
Hope this works for you too.
I tried something like this, but it only seemed to fix it for a bit, and the mouse will from time to time stop working randomly. It seems to be when I lift off of the mouse pad, it'll jump to a random spot on the screen, then proceed to not detect any movements for the next couple of seconds. It isn't too bad until it does this in the middle of a fast pace game, at which point I get the temptation to burn the mouse.
ruanpottaz would do it but my mouse don’t even wanna move
So far it has seemed to work , ty
@@freya9107 Legit had like 5 nagas and all do the same.... They really dont give a good solution too, blames it on calibration or that there is something blocking their sensor. All bullshit they just dont have a sensor that works more than 3 days properly.
@@magikille ya, it was bad enough I litterally swapped back to my $15 mouse. It's kind of frustrating to pay over $50 for a mouse, than have it loose to a $15 mouse. Don't get me wrong, when the razor worked, it was great, loved it, but it was very shortly lived. I don't think I can get my money back either
Didn't have the tracking issue but half of the numpad no longer responding, the video teached me how to properly disassemble the mouse properly, which was pretty much all I needed in order to fix the rest!
Lifesaver, I'll never be able to thank you enough :D
You're a legend, my 2014 Naga lazer stopped working today, pulled it apart and dumped a little solder on the joints as suggested and the beast lives again.
This is the exact problem I was having with my naga. Tysm
You're welcome, happy I could help
Helpful video. I had up/down tracking issues and took mine apart and found the sensor to be in perfect condition. Since I didn't have soldering equipment, I decided to just clean it with some isopropyl and see if that does anything. And to my surprise, it completely fixed it!
That is a wonderful surprise , I am happy for you! just a cleaning needed is always the best outcome . Congrats again and thanks for checking out my video
tks you, i was able to clean and fix my naga v2. Hope that the issue wont be happen again. It was very dusty in the sensor place also
You're welcome, I'm happy I could help. Nice on figuring it out
I could fix my Razer Naga thanks to this video. I spilled water on it and wanted to know how to open it up to clean it.
Thanks a lot. Very cool.
It works all fine now.
I just need to buy and install mouse "feets"
Congrats on fixing your Naga, I'm happy I could help. Those feet are the icing on the cake
this completely fixed my sensor and I did not even have to fix anything. Thank you so much you saved me $40 for another mouse.
Thanks for this, ended up having a close look at the sensor and found a tiny hair to be the culprit, great video and well executed!
I am happy you found the issue and thank you so much for the kind words
I've used mine for 4-5 years so far, a little tip guys is when the tracker/cursor moves weird just blow/clean the sensor real quick. When the scroll wheel gets jumpy and behaves weird, just blow in the holes next to it to get rid of dirt stuck there.
This 3 year old comment just saved me 400 bucks!
@@rupertbreach6654 Gotchu friend!
Dude, quality video. Props.
Short and to the point, no bullshit.
that's what wanted the out come to be. I appreciate your awesome words !
what helped me was using a q tip and some isopropyc alcohol just press it into the laser opening and try to clean the laser as good as you can, worked wonders
wow, thanks mate! I really need to clean my Naga Chroma.
No problem, happy I could help
Hi I just wanted you to know that this was a very well done video. A friend at work was frustrated with this mouse and because of your video and a little effort it is now working!!!
I suffered from this problem for so long, and it was all due to dry solder joints :-(
I tried different mats, mouse calibration and other stuff. Only banging on it helped sometimes. Ended up replacing the mouse, but now I can repair it :) Thanks
ive been going crzy trying to figure this out, same exact issues, dont have a soldering tool but now i know for sure what to do, life saver.
Thx a lot! After encountering the same tracking sensor problems you describe I've followed your guide and found that I've got some apparently conductive oily fluid spots on the main PCB. After cleaning with pure EtOH and reassembling the mouse works fine again :)
I am happy my video helped :) and happy to hear it is fixed
i use mine since november 2013 for heavely daily usage still works as good as it was the first day!
Te easiest way to fix the bump is removing the bottom pads. That's how I fixed mine. Greetings!
Thank You so so much for this tuto ! I was just about to buy another one, finally I opened it and blew inside and it fixed the sensor !
ty, numpad wasnt working on my mouse for the 12 button on my games, had to click it like 30 times to get one to go through, tore it apart, cleaned it with some air/alcohol wipes and it works great
thanks for the advice, I re-soldered the tracking sensor and it worked perfectly
crazy how this tracking issue has been a problem for the last 6 years. you would think they would have it fixed by now. Both of the naga chromas I've used have had this problem.
After a couple years of my mouse working flawlessly, it quit tracking. this video helped me to take it apart. Right at 2:02 in the video where he has taken the ribbon out you see the soldered parts in the diamond configuration. I had gunkus stuck in it on those solder points. I took the gunkus off and now it works perfectly!!
I've had 2 razer naga classic edition mice each one only lasted about 2 years, as the r-click stops registering and will frustratingly drop clicks if you try to hold them. I really hope cleaning mine internally will resolve the issue! thanks for the vid!
I hope that fixes it as well. Your super welcome and best of luck
nice video helped me to fix my razer naga epic chroma (wireless). i just cleaned up everything under the plate next to the sensor and that worked well for me ! thanks bruv greetings from germany
Happy I could help ! You got away with an easy fix. I am jealous of you for that :)
The problem with the Naga is that they don't tell you to make sure the power switch on the bottom of the mouse is set to 'off' when you are using it in wired mode. It should only be set to 'on' if you are using it wireless. If these directions are not followed when using it wired, it will cause the mouse to jump all over the place and sometimes not even move. Very annoying problem that even the tech support at Razer didn't mention when I called them.
Back in 2014, I bought a new naga 2014 edition and the sensor started acting up within 6 months, razer sent me a replacement and that one also failed within 6 months. That was the last time I would buy anything by razer.
My main left button snapped off for no particular reason so all I need is the first top cover removed to fit another 2nd hand one! Cheers 👍
I think they changed the design of the Naga 2014 at some point, because I have some transparent plastic plates over my 4 screes on top of the glide pads.
What is better:
Razer Naga 2012 or 2014? I've never tried the 2012
both bad just get another mmo mouse
@@invertmousegod6997 ?
@@invertmousegod6997 i got mine back in 2015, still working well for me
Let’s put it this way I got the molten as my first gaming mouse then when the sensor went I thought hey I’ll just replace it with a new trinity... horrible decision the new mouse is bulky and not even close to the same. The 2014 is best mouse I have ever owned
@@deadly134 agreed, my 2014's been sturdy all along and I think it also has great functionality as well.
I took it apart and cleaned the sensors using multiple q tips and rubbing alcohol it works fine for me now.
Thanks a bunch for uploading this i was having trouble with mine but now it's fixed :)
Just wanted to know where the screws were. Thanks for the heads-up about the cable attached to the top of the mouse. Cheers
Thanks, just dismantle mine on the 2014 and now the clics reworks perfectly in arena in wow :)
No problem ! I'm happy to hear you got your Naga back to working order. I know how relieved you must feel rn. Thanks for watching :)
All i watched was the unskrewing of the bottom part :) thanks bro my red LED logo wasnt working so i needed to solder and it worked :D
I am happy the video could be of help :)
imagine shipping out a defective mouse where the customer has to open and solder something so the mouse can work as advertised
MY HERO! it's exactly what happened to mine! saved me 100$
Im happy I could help !
i have the same mouse and i disassembled it for the first time.there had much dust , much much ^^' but i took off all ^^ and i cleaned the mouse wheel too . thank you for your video , it helped very much :)
Well, I didn't get to disassemble it like you showed us because changing the USB port did the trick. But thanks for the tip.
Thank you!! its not exactly to my mouse but you make me get courage and open my Scimitar Corsair, because was stuck my button (those one back the wheel) so i opened and it was okay, nothing wrong except some bad manufacture stuff but nothing else, so i just push back the button and now its okay! 8D it does not stuck again! Thank you again! 8)
+Blake Stark No problem. I am happy I could help :)
Thanks so much, fixed my tracking issue
I am happy to hear that :)
This video was super helpful, thank you!
agreed ..helps to know how not to break it more ..while trying to actually fix it! ^^
woohoo, used your video to clean the sensor and the rest of the mouse. thanks man.
Np man. I am happy it helped you out
Will try this today. Same problem here. Nice video! Thanks Eddie.
I hope it goes well and thank you Martin :)
Hey did it work?
Hi I'm Brazilian and i didnt understand what i have to do after disassembling him..
Depois de abrir ele refez a solda dos conectores do sensor ótico.
very good tutorial! nice voice 🙂helpfull at all 🙂
Thank you so much ! Happy I could help
thankyou n happynewyear 2019 my problem was a screw leg had broken into 7 pieces ..so was rattling around inside .. superglue and patience! ..btw the inner 12button cable can be disconnected but it has a side clasp ..then the cable comes straight out n back in.. choice.. hi all n bye all.. 0range
Thanks! I just wanted to disassemble it, because I was thinking about spray paint the top white! the mouse works fine for me, but i'll keep this in mind if my naga acts up in the future.
Saddly, I needed info going a step further in order to fix the top of the two buttons under the scroll wheel; it clicks nicely but has stopped responding. After getting mine apart (thank you for your instruction) it seems I can't get that final piece off to get at the button.
Any suggestions?
screws holes aren't there at all fro me ,raz01-0161, not sure if 2014 edition or not, it'
s a naga chroma aswell. I kinda tore off the top part where the mouse cover and there are screw holes there but no where on the bottom of the mouse, wtf?!
My naga kept jumping and stop tracking whenever I lifted it.
Cleaning the sensor sorted it right out. A bit of IPA and a cotton bud
Thanks for the guide!
Rob Ackers not a problem ! I'm happy the guide was able to help :)
Thanks I had this issue, re flowed all the soldered joints on the senor checked it again and fixed the issue thanks alot :)
Glad it helped
I was wondering if there was any way to make the mouse lighter. Now seeing the internals.. it looks like a Dremel would be the only way to make something like that possible... but extremely carefully. Thanks for the walkthrough!
I dunno why people always hate on Razer, i've had zero issues with my black widow keyboard and naga mouse, and i've had both for 3 years. Zero issues. Although I did wanna see how to take apart the mouse since the buttons are getting pretty filthy ;) Great video!
Had the same problem. 6 times. I kept reclaiming the mouse since the first version of Naga untill the last one. I didn't get to reclaim it in time now, so I've done the fix now and it seems to work. I will game test it tomorrow and will update it :)
Have you tried it yet
@@ddamfaeoll508 it still works, mate!! But it does have bad and better days. There are some lesser stutters from time to time but 3 years after your comment, it still does it's job :D
@@oOWiTyOo thanks for the reply lol
How do u solder a lead?
just ordered a new cord my dog chewed threw mine, thanks for the video
Glad I could help
So when you say you soldered the leads that didn’t looked filled in. Did you de solder the whole sensor and and your solder to it or did you just add solder to the leads that didn’t look like they were filled in. Cause I recently purchased a naga on eBay and the sensor is just dead not working but everything else on the mouse works to even lights up lol.
Thanks for the video Eddie! You helped me save our (razer naga epic chroma) mouse.
( our cat ran across the desk kicking and spilling a cup of coffee last night, mouse button was sticky today. )
Everyone please hit the like button for mister Brown!
You are lucky you had the knowledge how to repair your mouse. Have fun with it :)
Thanks for the underside view brah. Couldn't find it on google images. Needed to know where to punch out holes in the feet, cause my cable is shorting out every 30 seconds and the replacement feet ain't coming for days.
These laminated feet can't survive a reapplication.
They are not exactly the same after reapplication I found this on amazon if it helps www.amazon.com/Mouse-Skatez-Razer-Gaming-replacement/dp/B00V6B3G12
Super great tutorial, subbed!
Thanks for the sub!
Great video, I’m just having problems with the cable, talked to a Razer agent & they told me to get a replacement cable so hopefully that’s the only problem 😅. Looks simple enough to disassemble.
That is awesome, I have my fingers crossed for you !
Eddie Brown thanks I actually got it yesterday & this video helped a lot, thank you
Sorted the issue for me, thanks!
Np Glad I could help !
Can you teach us what it's like to "Sauder the leads"?
I want to learn more about taking hardware apart and fixing stuff, and my Naga has tracking issues, but I don't wanna be doing stuff like that blindly.
I also wasn't really sure what the "leads" are.
Soldering. A method of combining two metal things together with another metal that melts at a lower temperature. Circuits use metal wires and pads because they conduct electricity, they need solder (a low-temperature Tin alloy metal) to melt around these connections (aka leads) and turn solid, holding the parts onto the board.
You are a legend
Legendary eddition
i have it for 8 years and yesterday he start to jump i will try it hope it will fix it cuz i love him
how did you reaffix the teflon feet? did you have to use an adhesive?
WOW after 6 yrs, mine magically turned on after just removing the pads ffs. it went wonky and shut off after 1 yr use in 2015. is razer known for dysfunctional mice?
very helpful! thank you
Do you have a double click fix video?
I have a question, the issue i am having is my left click button isn't working properly. the clicking it self works but when I hold Left click down doesn't work. not unless i click really hard and hold it
I need a teardown of the side plates or picture of it.
Why not show how to solder those things? I've no idea how to do that
I fixed it it worked for me thanks man!
I am happy I could be of help :)
Gracias, tu vídeo me ayudo a solucionar mi problema, mi ratón tenia exactamente el mismo problema y después de ver tu vídeo ya nunca tendré este problema de nuevo =D
Thnx work perfectly got my dad to open it up clean censor when some alcohol and it works fine! Thnx
My issue with these mice is that the right click last maybe 3 months. I've gone through 3 in a year. I'm tired of it. Razor gives no help what's so ever. I took all three apart thinking they were dirty. Nope.. so I did some small engineering on the part that reaches down and pushes the button. Let's see how it goes. Oh the ones I have, have the changeable buttons on the side.
I've had mine for like 4 years now no issues with that, I am using right click A LOT in league. What I did have problems with was tracking issues, cursor froze and behaved weirdly, I fixed it by using "commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:White_menbo.jpg" these, I just pulled them into the sensor under mouse and twisted it around for like 2 seconds and the tracker would work fine again. So basically it's just dirt getting stuck in the sensor under the mouse that you need to get rid off, maybe you can blow too. I've used this method for 4 years and it still works like a charm.
At one point I had an issue with the scroll wheel skipping steps and behaving weirdly, I fixed it be simply blowing into the holes right next to the wheels, took me 10 seconds. So in my experience there is very rarely hardware issues people have with these mice, only little dirt getting stuck in sensor/scroll wheel at least for the 2014 version.
Had my Naga 2014 since they came out and it started doing this shit about 2 years ago and I've just lived with it until I just drowned the fucker and alcohol and that solved the issue
That is the best strategy ! I find myself doing that first with things too
Yeah good work, helped me!
Thanks!
could this help with double click/ghost click? Mine had a good 2year of use and started with this problem, still had some warranty(1 month) and sent to them to solve it, the mouse came back and worked for a couple weeks and the problem returned.
I wish i could use more of the thing, best mouse i've had in my life, and as i live in a 3rd world country a new one is waaaaaaay too expensive.
nice video
Unfortunately, I don't know what a lead is, and I don't see 10 of anything.
How often does your mouse was stopping? I have similar issue but it happens rarely. Only the sensors stops for like a second or two, but the buttons are working just fine. I used to have the same issue with my last Naga 2012 and I thought it was because of the mouse itself, but I gave the mouse to my nephew and I asked him few times if he encountered that issue, he said this never happened to him yet.
thanks i used a demonstrative vdo
When you pull off those stickers where the screws are is it possible to put them back on smoothly?
If not is it still smooth without them?
Thanks in advance to anyone.
yes and no i used spirits to remove any residual glue ..but i'm buying a pack of the slide-pads before my new mouse mat arrives..
My clicks need to click hard so mouse doesnt release by it self
What should i do
Hey! Cool job dude
How did u fix those black tracking pads? are they re attachable? or u need to get new 1?
I just put them back (as long as the adhesive is on them still) on and after some time they formed back to how they were.
do those pads matter? i took mine off and the mouse works just fine
Xantog, I think it depends on preference. I believe their use or main use is to have a smooth even movement. In addition to protecting the mat or surface the mouse is on use on. I have an older model Naga and I ripped the pads off too and it performs just as well.
ah ok, thanks for the response
np at all
thank you vry much i fixed my mouse :)
It's been a little over a year - Do you still use this mouse? Is the tracking still good or have you encountered any more issues since you've began using it more?
Very good question! I have never had an issue after I fixed mine. I still use it as my daily driver. Still game with it too. It has not skip a beat.

Awesome. I already purchased a soldering kit and am going to look up some directions on how to safely solder the components on the mouses board. Appreciate it!
Not a problem at all !
Roght clic doesnt hold is an issues that lot of naga has
Worked for me, thanks for the tip
Hey, my '2' button sometimes does not work right, I press it five times and it will work once out of the five presses, any idea what might be causing this?
I had that problem with button 1 on the thumb pad, I just dismantled the thumb pad section, cleaned out some dust and reassembled and it started working 100%.
i have exactly the same problem button number 2, works the odd time but not all the time.
@@asrigascanbe Try resetting your profile one to default and test it out. Otherwise just open it up and dissmantle the button area and clean it out (dont remove the little ribben cable from the chip board thou)
Hey Eddie. I’m having issues with my right click and my scroll wheel. Basically I have to press really have for the scroll wheel for it to activate and my right mouse button is like kinda glitchy where I sometimes it works and for example when I try to aim it would constantly activate and deactivate while holding down the key. Any advice ?
I have the exact same issue m8. Any news on your problem ?
How do you connect the leads with the tracker?
Hi Eddie, I just recently purchased one of these. I liked the idea of having so many buttons, but it's really hard to grip without accidentally hitting one of the thumb buttons. Do you think that if I took it apart like you showed, it would be feasible to add some sort of strap to the left so that I can just strap it onto my thumb?
Hey Bill, I can understand that. The mouse is hard to get used to. You could do that but just know you may have to use a very thin fabric of some sort because the spacing really has no give or you may have to sand some of the plastic down to make room so the mouse assembles properly (this is just me thinking about it though.)
I will let you know how I use the mouse without pressing side buttons. I control the mouse movement with my ring finger and tension/ support from the lower part of my palm for support and leave my thumb resting but not exerting any force to move the mouse. I know my mouse looks gross in the example photos but check it out if you're interested to see my method on mouse movement. It may save you from modifying the mouse.
imgur.com/a/DV4hx
How hard are you gripping it? I just tested and put some pretty decent pressure across the button panel and none press in unless i try to intentionally press.
hi Bill [happynewyear] in Razer Synapse program just edit the button and choose Button assignment 'disable' for any you want to not press ..i do this in different mouse setups so that the middle mouse press left or right doesn't do anything. i hope this still helps.. Rich.
