Good old Micheal Ironside he is truly a inspiration villains everywhere.
To me, he IS Darkseid.
@@louisduarte8763 'Super, or otherwise, you are merely A man. And I am A GOD.'
Truer words
More slasher movies need Michael Ironside, Michael Ironside makes everything better
He's magical. Even his name sounds like something a from a gritty 80s or 90s B movie character would be named. Like an over the top gritty police detective who's names everyone either whispers in fear or screams in terror, like "oh God, it's DETECTIVE IRONSIDES! [cue Michael Ironsides punching his fist clean through a criminals torso]"
"sexist parrot" is the funniest bit Brad has ever done.
0:53 I've been highlighted!
While my pick didn't get selected, Visiting Hours (1982) made for a pretty entertaining episode! I'm actually a little surprised it didn't get reviewed sooner!
As for William Shatner playing a serial killer... I'm surprised the Cinema Snob didn't bring up his role in Impulse (1974). It was one of the earliest Cinema Snob episode all the way back in 2007!
damn i didint realize hes been on here that long!
@@zackearl3200 He has been around FOREVER! He had different names over time on his channel.
Brad is awesome - I found him when Spoony featured a couple of videos on his old site.
I am surprised this movie hasn't been remade but about internet content and the reaction it gets
''Visiting Hours'' is a classic. Michael Ironside was FREAKIN AWESOME!
One of Cinema's great villains
I suppose it would be nice if Shatner was the killer, but imagine if he and Ironside switched roles, pretty much everyone who saw the movie would wonder why this minor character was so much more terrifying than the actual killer.
Well he is the true face of Michael Myers after all 😏
This was rather tame for a Video Nasty. According to Wikipedia, it wasn't released uncut in the UK till 2017. The poster/VHS cover was certainly memorable.
Michael Ironside is a great actor he can usually project menacing yet also project authority he can portray either evil villains or a tough military figure you need to salute in authority. Recently I saw him in the film Nobody even if it is a supporting role he still does it with class.
3:12 I can almost see him grabbing the mic and screaming "KHAAAANDICE... stop debating and taking sides, dear!"
Gotta love how there’s a small number of Canadian actors and they always reoccur in any movie made up there.
I’ll watch anything with Michael Ironside
I agree, but I wish I didn't watch "Spacehunter:The Adventure in the Forbidden Zone".....
x2
Ah sweet, really liked this sort of TV horror.
A cameo from William Shatner and Michael Ironside with a face that you know means he's gonna be the bad guy.. 😂
Good to know this may be what my grandfather would’ve been like if he became a serial killer. The killer’s backstory nearly fits with my grandfather’s childhood to a tee. Its so weird but yet makes sense as my grandfather did have many undiagnosed mental health disorders, bipolar and sociopathy are most suspected. Also I would like to have seen Shatner is a killer role versus his good guy or cocky a-hole-ish roles.
It’s amazing to think that this came out the same year as Wrath of Kahn.
I had a chance last week to watch a bunch of movies in theaters starring Michael Ironside WITH Michael Ironside, including Scanners and Total Recall. But of course I got the flu and never got the chance to meet him. FML...
That information made me sorry for you by proxy. That would have been amazing man. I'm truly sorry you missed out on that.
The emergency! Commercial got me lol
I was a kid when this came out. Being Canadian, this movie was everywhere. Great cast-Ironside is a badass. Love this flick-saw it when I was a kid and it scared the shit out of me.
Great review, I hope that some day Snob will review Flesh Gordon movie from 1974.
Even more reasons to love Ironside
Yeah, I watched this just to see Mr. Ironside.
I actually thought this movie was too good for a funny review. I really enjoyed this one!
1982 in my opinion one of the best years for 🎦
Michael Ironside is one of those actors enjoyable to watch.
Did 911 exist in 1982? Michael Ironside is the most underrated actor ever.
13:25 Love an obscure-ish Batman ''89 reference!
I showed this movie to my mom, she loved it. 😅
Oh, nice! I picked this to watch years ago at random from a list of Video Nasties, and ended up really liking it.
Also didn't know Shatner was in the movie until I watched it. That was a surprise.
The longer Cinema Snob goes on, the more his voice turns into Vic the Big Box Voice
Love these videos from the snob, hope he keeps finding classic horror slasher
Give us 1983 in film already. I just feel incomplete without it. Lol
I love when Snob covers slashers
Glad to see you're reviewing some of the films in your 80's retrospective. Hope to see more. Fade To Black seems like a great choice.
I would love a “Fade to Black” vid. That movie is a good love letter to cinema fans and the villain (an excellent performance from Dennis Christopher) is quite tragic
Thank you for doing this movie! I remember it as a really good thriller!
Ironside wasn't trying to kill her, he was just going to interrogate her about North Korean mass kernels...Lambert tells him to save the "5th freedom" for terrorists
18:54 TFW you hear *"Sweet Jesus, Fisher! Mission's over!!"* too many times.
Lol awesomeness
I am 54 nowadays and got to See this movie for Free in theaters thanks to a projectionist freind then , After rewatching This movie nowadays right after I got out of A real Hospital A 14 Day stay After A Heart attack , A triple bypass A New heart Valve put in and Diabetes 1 on march 4th 2021 to sum it up for me , I noticed this time how lack the security was in the hospital plus people can just wander around on dark floors of the place too? And anyone can do the laundry ? If Not Almost all Of The Hallways are all seemingly empty too ?
Shatner was the serial killer in "Impulse" 1974
5:55 That Scanners reference caught me off guard
Man ironside's character is almost like a game of hitman lol
Exactly. This is a better adaptation than the real live action Hitman movies.
Interesting cast! When I first saw this... I recognized the lead actress was Michael Scott's girlfriend (Pam's mom!) from THE OFFICE. It's got a weird vibe!
Lee Grant took the role for the money so she could build a stone fence around her house and property thus increasing their value should she and her partner ever decided to sell it. In fact she confessed to taking any and all offers for the money, not because “it was an interesting part”.
1st watch was at the drive in. People don't understand that Michael Ironside was this nightmare creature that could show up in your dreams, poke out your eyes and eat your soul if you were a kid from '82-'84...
Up there with the other psychotic greats...Jack Nicholson, Anthony Perkins, Anthony Hopkins, Dennis Hopper, Christopher Walken, John Malkovich etc...
I watched so many slasher films in the 1980s. How did I miss this one???
Brad made our day again!
The parrot from Ace Ventura 2😂
Fraggles in 82? This anachronism hasn't gone unnoticed...
OMG thanks for the GH and Emergency commercials! I loved this when I saw it in the movies specifically because I just loved Ironside and his hamminess. He was blowing up at that time after Scanners - he was in a bunch of movies and of course, V. He was just a treasure to watch. LOL (Linda Purl was actually becoming pretty big at that time too). Thank you so much for doing this hilarious video, Snob! I would have a hard time choosing on the poll, but not for #1 Visiting Hours - my trouble choosing was from 2-7 choices. hehe Holy Shatner!
Amazing
Looks like an Awesome movie plus it came out in 82 my birth year ☺
Visiting Hours aka Halloween 2.5
d15:42 Well put, Brad. Just like what you and Doug said in the Black Christmas 2019 review.
Good pick for a review. Thanks!
Happy Easter Brad& Laura. 🐣🐤🐰🐰🧺♥️
Ironside has never ever been bad.
Just watch ''Good Will Hunting'' and I can't stop thinking about one of Robin Williams quote because of your title. hahah
Oh look, A movie referenced in the 'Superman 4' episode.
5:23 They're Canadians, right? Even in life-or-death situations, they're so darn polite.
Looks like an interesting horror thriller, especially for the poster.
Im glad i could make a contribution to the review. Me and my wifes wedding photo brings back memories of a simpler and more innocent time. See 1:42 for reference.
This is darkest origin story of Darkside I have ever seen.
Man I remember watching this movie I was so disappointed it was awful. I was shocking to find out this was a cult classic. I feel like focusing on the killer is very risky. I compared this a lot to Maniac but this is a lot worse.
1:02 The LORD Humongous! Warrior of the Wasteland! The Ayatollah of Rock-n-rolla!
When I saw the thumbnail along with the title of the film, I thought this might be an adult film.
I would LOVE to see a Cinema Snob review of the Wiz. It my favorite film.
I shall write a screenplay for a movie where Michael Ironside's character gets psychiatric help, and becomes an action star, while still having to deal with the consequences of his past.
Ah, the early 80s,
A time when deranged serial killers could easily make their way into a hospital.
Areas were less restrictive back then.
The mom from Damien: Omen II
You don’t have to tell me Ironside was the villain, I kind of already figured he was.
16:06, poor guy was blinded.
honestly, I would like to see you do a review of Shatner in the movie impulse.
Wait. I’m not all the way through the review yet, but are they not gonna let Ironsides talk? 60% of the man’s intimidation factor is his voice!
Was you putting the review's summary before the movie's finale a meta-joke?
It fit the movie very well 😂
My Hero 🥹🫡🇺🇸
This was almost comedic: the guy kills everyone except the one person he was planning to kill. I think there's a plot for a goofy horror parody in there somewhere.
i keep waiting for him to ask all his victims if they've ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight.
Still better than Black Christmas 2019.
You can tell it's a Canadian movie...Half the actors are from Canadian TV.
"I know"
The Shat man cometh!
I'm really surprised Lisa didn't take out Michael Ironside--she voiced Rogue on the 90s Xmen series! Hell, I'm surprised he didn't die when he touched her!
This film is also Canadian too.. the shat and Michael Ironside are Canadian
No wonder the dcau hited Michael Ironside as darkseid
I used to have this in clam shell vhs but it broke
The backstory comes off like an excuse he didn't think through... but that seems to be the case in most of these🤷🏾♀. Nice bookend👀🍿
Criminally understand horror film. Different from other slasher genre films in how the victims are adults, rather than oversexed teenagers, & the killer is not some nameless, faceless force of nature.
because he loved dad...
You say Harvey Atkin from Super Mario Bros Super Show, I say Harvey Atkin from Meatballs
I say Harvey Atkin from _'Neighbours'._ Now that's an obscure reference.
0:46- I was also hoping that movie would win the poll, because you stated in your 1982 in Film episode that it was behind Inchon of worst film of the year.
12:25- Either that or his character in Prom Night 2.
16:36- Yeah, the theatrical cut of Highlander 2 is really batshit stupid.
22:33- I'm just hoping that the 1960 movie you review doesn't make you wanna cheat on your wife.
That dude looks like a dime store buffalo bill.
"Remaquel"? Haha!
Ok sexist bird is now an on going part of the channel!
It's a reincarnated alternate universe Alex Jones.
So his dad is Two-Face?
The Wiz 😢
Idk why. But Ironside looks a lot like Jack Nickelson to me. And it throws me off ever time he says ironside.
Ironside's deep voice is much better.
18:54 ...Poppin' red pills; the source of his powers.
Got this movie confused with Scorsesi's After Hours from 1985 :S
15:25 - 15:42 replace "slasher movies" with "YA literature" and this is me.
Ironside as the villain, but this time it's Shatner and not lack hes facing off against?
No wonder this won the poll.
1983 better be "The Hunger" starring David Bowie, Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon. What's not to love about a movie featuring confused editing, lesbian vampires and Bauhaus?
11:52 Does Larry Fine Look Fine ?
5:13 More Like a Xerxes Look ?
