    Thanks for watching! Does your toddler push away the plate or refuse to come to the table because there is "yucky different food"?

    I am seriously considering suggesting this for my partner as well. He eats like a toddler even though he's over 30. No idea how this is gonna go when we are having kids. Like you said - we cannot expect children to try what one of us is refusing to even touch...

    This is great advice- I notice such a difference at my in-laws’ house where they pressure my 3 year old about her food. She doesn’t even want to come to the table anymore at their house because she is so put on the spot. I tell them to just leave her be, but im sure the pressure is back on when they babysit and I’m not there to say something. Ugh.
    I’m going to give the learning plate a try, I like that idea a lot!

    Another thing to try, we use a no thank you bowl. She puts what she doesn’t want in there instead of on the floor. This way we can save it. Also sometimes she ends up eating things out of the no thank you bowl

    Eating all together at one time before bubs‘ bedtime would be our issue. We can do that 4 days a week (if one of us has the energy to cook) but Thursday Friday Saturday my husband works until 8:30pm.

    Hey Emma! I love your channel and I've been an avid follower since I had my firstborn who is now 1 year old. I've also shared it with so many of friends who also love you!
    I tried all your recommendations, stokke high chair for proper comfort, letting him play/feel with food, we even eat while he eats so he can watch us chew but he still doesn't eat:( He hates being confined and I don't want to create bad habits by spoon feeding when he is playing. Any additional tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!!

    • @EmmaHubbard
      @EmmaHubbard  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi @Freny Vyas there could be a few reasons why your little one is not that keen to eat. Some reasons are:
      - grazing - if your little one is grazing throughout the day then it will be taking the edge of his appetite and also lead to him being less motivated to try new food. If possible I would recommend have 5 set meals, 2 -3 hours apart.
      - filling up on milk - some kids realise that drinking milk or juice is a quick and easy way to satisfy their hunger. This then leads to them not eating solids because they are full and can then further restrict their eating. I would recommend offering water between meals and only offering some milk or juice during a meal.
      Hope that helps!

    I am a walking example of bad parenting habits during meal time. I experienced all the bad habits parents can have when it comes to food.
    To this day I have anxiety around food, and the pressure of trying new food.

    Hi, I have a 7and a half month old. She's ebf and with solids she's basically eating everything but only if she eats it completely alone and if it's an actual piece of food no purées or anything similar to it. Basically blw which is great and I hoped for from begining but I am worried she doesn't eat anything in the end because most of it ends up in her lap or she throws it purposely on the ground. She's very easily distracted too I'd say. She also loves drinking water from her 360 cup.
    Another thing connected or not, she is waking up every hour in the night in the last week and fighting naps or has very short naps. Don't know what to do we're all going a bit crazy over here. She's crawling like crazy and has six teeth so could it be just something like that or should we seriously start working on some kind of sleep training?

    Do you have a recommendation for a good spoon for self feeding? Our LO only wants to eat themselves. Finger food works fine but purée/porridge is harder. LO is 10 months old

    Hi Emma, watched the video it is really amazing. Any tips related to one year babies who doesn't like to brush their teeth

    • @EmmaHubbard
      @EmmaHubbard  Před 2 lety +3

      Hi @Thariq Azeez brushing a 1 year old teeth can be hard. You can try a few things.
      - try rubbing a wet face washer which is on your finger tip along their teeth instead of a tooth brush.
      - try and get your little one more comfortable with a tooth brush by letting them hold and mouth the brush during the day or while in the bath.
      - sing a brief song while you brush their teeth. I usually sing “this is the way you brush your teeth. Brush your teeth”. Just make it very quick at first and then add more verses when your little one is comfortable with it.
      - I also find using two tooth brushes helpful. Usually they love to brush your teeth while you brush their teeth.
      - also think about the tooth paste you are using (if you are using any). Some of the flavours are a bit too much for a 1 year old. I have more success with Milk Teeth toothpaste.
      Hope that helps!

    This is such a struggle for me! I have a 6 month old, & my partner has an almost 4 year old daughter with another gal. His daughter refuses to eat anything that isn’t a chicken nugget, chips, a slim Jim, or ramen noodles. I am convinced this child has never eaten a vegetable in her life. It’s especially difficult when she has already basically been allowed to call the shots so there is no reasoning with her. Even foods she has eaten before & claims to like, she will refuse sometimes simply because she wants chips instead. I am concerned she is a lost cause but her 3 & a half year old body needs more nutrition.

      Hi @Brittany L this sounds a little tricky. It might be worth exploring with all parties if they would like to start using a learning plate or if t you can use it at home. The learning plate could really help in this situation.

      Hi sounds very tricky. Hopefully this tip will help. Remember for each meal to include a food that your little one does like to encourage her to come to the table. If she won’t eat any solid food I would recommend popping in to the doctor to explore why.
