I've had nothing but awesome help from WoodMaxx.
Got the same WoodMaxx in 2020 new and put it on the back of my '97 JD-770. It's technically on the high side of the "grey area" of usability on it. I had to put my box-blade in the bucket for counter balance. I've used the hell out of it. I've used it to lift logs, stumps that I dug out, boulders, pretty much if it can lift it I moved it. I mainly I just lifted it high enough to load onto my old HF style trailer and used that to move it to the area I needed then used the BH or bucket to take it off. I've since bought a 35 HP LS and use it on that now and no longer use it on my 770. With the 4in1 bucket I bought it's a great help.
Be aware tho, most factory sub-frame mounts don't have a top-link mount. The factory bh mounts a different way. You would have to manufacture your own mounting system to it. I've seen a couple guys do it online.
On some different makes, the factory bh's are permanently mounted to a portable sub-mount then you mount/unmount the whole unit just like you would the other way.
As far as 3p bh issues, when looking for mine I literally looked online for weeks for "3pt BH problems" on any model tractor and only found a few that had major issues, and most of them were "a friend of a friend" had it happen. A couple did break the tractor but no one could confirm if there was a factory defect that exasperated the problem. In fact I found a couple that oem bh's broke the factory style sub-frame. Go figure. Granted not many people use a 3pt bh but there you go. So, you can max out your 3pt with an attachment, drive through the fields/roads with it raised and no problems but the minute you use a 3 pt bh in a static position you have problems?
But yes, IF I could get/afford a factory back hoe and sub-frame mount I would use that instead.

I couldn’t justify the $9k price tag for the Kubota subframe backhoe. I rarely use this one but it is handy when I do use it. I maybe use it twice a year. Im just really easy when driving around so it’s not bouncing a whole lot. I am not a fan of how Kubota designs the rear of these tractors.

I hear ya there on the price. When I could even find an OEM bh for my "old" 770 the price was horrendous.
Another "surprise" I got, I was leaning towards Kubota for the larger tractor but them and JD wanted over $8000+- more then the LS. There were only a few different dealers in my area so not many choices anyway. LS wanted around $5 or 6k more for the cab version and about the same for the OEM backhoe. I have rain gear and I already had the BH. lol The new tractor was a bit more in the want area then the need area., couldn't justify the difference.
Same here trying not to bounce it when on rough terrain. The biggest "danger" is like digging out stumps where the pressure of the bucket gets released instantly when it slips on a root. Box Blade, brush cutter, etc, basically do the same thing only to a lessor extent.

On the subject of the 3 point backhoe being rough on the machine. You can buy the kubota backhoe subframe without buying the backhoe. I have it on my tractor. It's bolt on and you can do it yourself. Adds alot of beef to the tractor frame and additional support to the loader.

Not a bad idea. I’ll definitely look into that. Thank you!

Your reasoning was more power in the backhoe I have no problem with my LX 2610 and my Kubota backhoe I dig 6 foot deep water lines plenty of power never had problems with stumps... what you're looking at is ripping the back of your tractor apart with more power... Good luck to you

Looking good. Did you buy the backhoe new?

  • @thegreatnorthwoodswithbb2863

I realize that backhoe attachment is probably much cheaper than Kubota... But that 3-point setup backhoe can be pretty rough on the back of the tractor... Better off paying more money to get the Kubota bh77 with the subframe

I couldn’t even find a factory backhoe if I wanted one. When I bought my tractor, they were on back order. I like this backhoe and it works good for what I need. It’s not as ideal as a subframe back how but I am not hard on it. Just have been using to dig water/electric trenches. For as little as I use it, I can not justify the $8k for the Kubota 77 backhoe.

@@atvrepairsandmore2482 well it's more like 10 grand for a bh77. Long as it works for you good deal.. I just recommend don't pull on anything hard
