  • The movie shows a ride with freight train #5135 from Landquart over the famous Albula Line of the Rhaetian Railways to Samedan. The train is pulled by GE 6/6'' #701.
In part 3, we see the train operating from Solis upgrade towards Tiefencastel, Surava, Alvaneu, then crossing the famous Landwasser viaduct until the train reaches Filisur.
The Landwasser viaduct is 65m high, 136m long and is being crossed by about 60 trains per day. On its way upgrade to Filisur, trains crossing the viaduct enter into Landwasser tunnel situated in a vertical rock cliff. The viaduct has a grade of 2% and is curved. The radius of the curve is 100m. To allow me to better film the crossing of the viaduct, the train driver slowed the train to 30km/h during the approach and crossing of the viaduct.
    Enjoy!

Jaw dropping beauty! The excellent state of maintenance of the Railway plant and of the adjacent structures illustrates the value that Switzerland and its peoples rightly attribute to its Railways, 2017/05/03.

Great ride and scenery. It's 'mountain side or slope, not flanks' in English. I would say, ' the track bed requires constant adjustment due to expansion/contraction, erosion and other environmental factors'.

Loco needs a Wabco WA-2 horn. That way it sounds like a derelict Silverliner II from Philly.
