Ever notice how when Russia takes area its just open fields and without any real value? However, when Ukrainians take the same fields its a major breakthrough, logistics hub, etc, etc.
Because you need to… cross fields to get to settlements, towns and cities?
They’re not even “open” fields, it’s usually forests with “surprises” waiting for them.
Hasn’t been stopping them though, considering how many settlements have fallen recently.
VDV, not so elite, they've been reconstituted seven times. No StrikeGum you see.
Wet the bed, explode in the air
VDV literally stopped the Ukrainian breakthrough in the robotyne direction, what are you talking about it
Well sh .t the bed
@@thiefsleef6752 Let them cope. Few months ago, these dudes(nafoids) called VDV soldiers as dumb amateur untrained mobics with no skills, now they are labelling them as "Elite"...
According to their logic, Russia lost its entire airborne troops in Kiev.
@@thiefsleef6752 And Ukraina lost already Robotyne. Russians entered and captured already Robotyne.
You would think the majority of the experienced VDV have been killed and it's really VDV that have been rushed thru the system lacking any of the years of training.
Not only that, but as far as “elite” infantry goes, VDV were always extremely overrated to begin with imo. They are crippled by their own structure and design. I have always held this belief. They are limited to very lightly armored, death trap vehicles which can be easily Swiss cheesed by something as simple as a PKM with API ammo, and which limit the size of their teams in a huge way. VDV elements are far smaller and often worse equipped than regular Russian Motor Rifle Brigade/infantry ones. They are marketed as Russia’s most lethal, fearsome infantry units, but in many ways this really just isn’t accurate.
@@floridasoldat Yes there strength is there high readiness, and the speed they can be deployed. Its a waste to use them as line-infantry.
@@kirgan1000you’re 100% right, that’s exactly it. Russia wastes them by throwing them out on the line where they’re at a massive disadvantage. They just aren’t designed for that.

Firstly, thanks for your work US Vet! Super appreciated!
Next, having problems pronouncing Ukrainian cities? No worries! Try in PL! 20+ years on and I still "try" to avoid talking about a few cities!.. Now a few general comments:
Could we put everything into perspective here?
When the medias say "russians are advancing up to 2km per week". This is a bit faulty. Faulty because it is taken in a very limited part of the front (a few km salient here and there). It is also a stat taken over the last 2-weeks. Not since Feb 2022.
Over the last 2 years + ? That's a grand total of +/-20 / 25km advance for the ru forces. Not exactly the 30km + per DAY from back in 2003 you know where...
I keep hearing media in France and elsewhere saying bs such as:
-The Aid to Ukraine is being delivered too late.
- The russian are coming!
- (even worse on lci - french channel): "nobody in Washington believed that Ukraine will win".
-etc.
Again... In Poland there is an interesting word:
Spoko!
It means something like "relax". That's what a lot of media should do cause from one day to the next, they are reporting on the russian invasion like bi-polar right now!
Atm russians advance up to over 1 kilometer per day, and if you look at the map, there is a very important highway just 8 km from where the Russians are right now. One basic rule is, you build defensive lines with heavy equipment, at least, 10 km from the frontline, and in todays warfare with drones, better 15 - 20 km.
Ukraine doesn't want to lose this highway, Russians clearly have the goal to reach and cut it, so containing them is urgent. It's sadly not like russia just took some territory, they broke through a real, defensive line, and now it's basically open field for them, and they could flank the ukrainian defenses, and it could mean, that Ukraine will lose a lot of territory.

3rd A brigade Azov refused orders from Syrski twice now to be sent to that sector of the front and defend lol
Strike gum is the new wunderfaffen
Your mum is our new wunderfaffen
If those soldiers in training went on a cheap holiday resort flight, they're called airborne troops already.
As much as Paul is apologizing for bad pronunciation he's pronouncing vowels in a way slavs can understand what he's saying, and not crazily shifted like native English speakers tend to. It's Robotyne, not a fictional Italian village Rouboutini God damnit, and Paul gets it. Sometimes order of consonants is mistaken (reading too fast?) but other than that he's doing well. Great job Paul and thank you as always.
They are called vdv, they passed vdv school...do you remember LT Gorman, he had many simulated drops. The one on lv42 was his first real one
VDV at least has a catchy song.
Nikolai Emelin - Hold on brother is the best VDV song
There’s a lot of really good Russian war music tbh 😂 🤷🏻 check out “Kombat” by Lubeh
No-voo-lek-san-dreev-ka ... easy peasy! 😉
A problem with the advancement is, as a general rule, you build defensive lines, at least, 10 km from the frontline. In today's war better more, because drones can cover the 10 km ez.
So you want more like 15 - 20 km, and Russia advanced over 8 kilometers in a really short time, so building defensive lines with heavy equipment now is impossible in the region, and there is a really important highway another 7 - 8 kilometers from the russians.
This highway goes from Bakhmut to the south-west, and passes Avdiivka just around 8 km from where the russians are now, and you really don't want to lose this road, but it looks a lot, as if this is the russian goal with this break through: Cutting this highway.
Yes the “el33t” counter strike clan
How do you reform an elite division when all of the elites were wiped out already?
You employ combat necromancers that repeatedly resurrect your casualties of 450k.
Meanwhile, the UKR with 31k of casualties somehow has the closed borders, want their male refugees in Europe back and start creating female troops detachment.
They aren't "Elite" they are "E-late"
Interesting
By "elite" he means 'the ones that are still alive after suffering total defeat in 2022'.
Wait, they scooped them from the bottom of the sea?
how many times have these VDV units been rebuilt? at this point VDV probably doesnt mean all that much.
There is zero proof of them being destroyed... Azov on the other hand
You’re not wrong. That, and Russia wastes them by throwing them out on the line and using them as regular infantry where they’re at a huge disadvantage. VDV units are designed around their lightly armored vehicles. Their teams are small. They are designed to be airborne troops who can be dropped behind enemy lines in strategic positions with the element of surprise on their side. They are sitting ducks in pitched battles on the zero line, and an incredible number of them have died pointlessly being misused by Russian commanders trying to plug holes in the lines.
@@glintongordon6811 take your shovel and go digging around hostomel for evidence.
@glintongordon6811 the bodies? 🤣
Rebuilt? Since when?
The VDV isn't a regiment. It has 4 divisions and 2 Brigades at the start of the war, unless of course you want to tell me that Russia somehow lost 4 divisions and 2 brigades in a stalingrad style encirclement. Losses were heavy especially in 2022, but not a scale where they had to be rebuult from scartch. But yes they are overrated.
Where is all the aid theylres supposed to be getting? Whats the hold up?
They can produce 3 million artillery MUNITIONS a year, Ukraine is getting 3 million howitzer shells this year. That would include Russian rockets and mortars as well ...
Both armies suffered severe casualities in their elite ranks.
In an all out war between two equally equipped armies, "elite" units are mostly overrated. Most of their purpose comes from special missions behind the lines or in certain terrain, so apart from urban combat and our last line defensives its not that bnig of a deal.
The greatest killer in this war are artillery, drones and disease after being wounded and not some ultra trained dude with super instincts.
Those headlines like the 47th is coming or the VDV are pure motivation or propaganda headlines to boost morale.
Bro starts stuttering when he can't defend his coping 😂😂😂
There is no thing as VDV anymore, majority are dead or heavely injured. Basically mobilized with better gear

Hahahahah Love your comment about the single syllable towns! Ukraine definitely has difficult to pronounce towns for us Westerners! Even when we think we cracked it, you hear it said by the local tongue and realize it's hopeless to pronounce! Maybe it was all on purpose so the Reds could weed out Western spies because they know we can't say the names right
I thought most of the vdv died at the airport shootout in the early days of the war.
a few more new ones were trained. inexperienced
@@nsevv As paul here pointed out, those two divisions you are calling inexperienced are the ones that stopped Ukraines 2023 offensive.
Million mines are stopping Ukraine not soldiers
Bruv. You think 10,000+ elite soldiers died in Gostomel?
Confirmed reports suggest 30 are either captured or dead...
Doesn’t really matter the VDV got smashed and lost well over 50% of its fighting forces 6 month in. This VDV is a new one that green horn as F and going up against a veteran force is going to be a nightmare
Who are the Veteran forces though? This kind of assessment discounts the fact that the Ukrainians have also suffered attrition.
Lmfao, if it lost 50% of its fighting forces, then tell me, who took the flanks of Bakhmut. Who is threatening Chasov Yar... Who took control over Popasna 2.0(Aka Ocheretyne)??? Thats right, Russian shovels and Washing machine chipped ww1 tanks with Potatoes as grenades took control over them.
