My two favorite vocalists on one stage. I've grinned watching that until my face hurts. I can't sing. Never could. Sometimes, however, I have what I call singing dreams. In those dreams I'm on stage and I always have either Luther or Patti's voice. I love them that much.
Listening to this makes me realize just how much I miss Mr. Vandross. I swear that last run ran up under Patti's little dress & made her jump. I felt it too.😂

Ive never heard her sing this song, badly...I love the duet of this, that she's done in concert with guys like Luther, Eddie Levert and even Michael McDonald (I saw them do this duet in 1990, when Patti perfomed at the Universal Amphitheater in LA). But NO ONE has surpassed the original, sung and written by Brenda Russell...her original is LIGHTS OUT.

Thank the amazing Brenda Russell for this classic and timeless composition. This song is over 40 years old and still sounds amazing. I love her original version from 1979, to Roberta Flacks version a few years later and Luther after that, singing it his own way. What an amazing song.
Wow! I didn't know that. However, if Reberta Flack covered it makes sense because he sang background for Reberta. You can hear his vocals in the song "Heaven Can't wait for Love".
@@zlovelyady yea he sang back grounds for her and she encouraged him to go solo. Brenda released it in 1979, Roberta in 1981 and Luther a few years after that. There is a video on you tube of Roberta singing her smooth jazz version, also very nice.
