Shoutout goes to Sara Leen for being a best friend and granting me a copy on my birthday 2 days ago, which ironically was also my 22nd birthday. Anyway, I did it! I am the first dude to post the ending! Somebody did post the final boss fight but not in it's entirety, so that's also a first. - Hry

Brevon is like an eggman boss that doesn’t hold back
No robots
No minions
No deity of legends
Just you and the villain
No holds death match
The worst part about his final form: he doesn't just kill you, HE GIBS YOU. Very few other final bosses give you that level of overkill. Hell, he even goes out of the way to gib you if you died with the normal fall down animation.
It was so satisfying to kick his ass after having been gibbed 50 times by him.

According to the credits, I died 70 times on that whole level! I think I got maybe 4 game overs from just the final phase alone, but you're right that the finishing blows really made it worth it!
He will toss you around after his three bombs are thrown. He only tosses you, but when he fires his gun, he will slash on his next move. the best way to dodge it is by using your special attack while facing him to evade the attack. it works for all characters.
I died 29 times on the final level... and died 84 times total as Lilac

Now I can actually take this bad guy more seriously. He may hide behind his troops and robotics, but he can go hand to hand in combat. He doesn't just let his troops do all of the work, he DOES the work. Robotnik was just a scientist who I doubt can throw a punch without high tech.
Ivo can throw a punch, though, capable of breaking huge solid block of ice, or kick G.U.N. robot into pieces. Even Maria, his 12-year old terminally-ill cousin, could slap G.U.N. troopers unconcious and break crates and robots with the same slap (Shadow the Hedgehog, two-player co-op). 'Guess such strength runs in blood. Still, Brevon is more than capable of killing Ivo, when he doesn't have his robots around.
caav56 Not to mention, Sonic 2 shows that Eggman is faster than Sonic (although it’s still debatable whether that’s canon; I even have Sonic walk slowly just to not see Eggman outrun him). In his Egg Mech, he can fly better than Tails and apparently is as strong as Knuckles. This guy is literally Team Sonic.
But Brevon is much more skilled, and I’d say he can beat Eggman.

Brevon: So anyway, I started blasting.
To defeat Brevon: He will only throw you around for the most of the fight. When he fires his gun, be prepared to dodge. The best way is by using your special move while facing him. this will cancel the attacks out and you receive no damage. This method made the fight much easier for me.

Brevan's ability holds up to his capability through the story as you see it. He isn't killing other important characters with one hit for no reason as you can see in this video. One melee hit will seem to secure his inevitable victory for most.

As a funny note I should mention this was done before they nerfed Brevon's final form by making him not hurt you up close from what I remember, they nerfed him like week into the release.
I MOST LIKELY will get Freedom Planet 2 when it comes out and finish it quick and post the neat stuff.
If I remember right, I like how when your last move is the dragon charge, it immediately goes to that ending smash, it's waaaaay more satisfying, especially after loosing to him so many times.
Yet another game convincing me that gaming's real future lies in indie titles.
I agree with this, especially if this game sets a bar for the indie platformers that everybody will mostly abide by. Because it's really high quality.

honestly, Brevon is one hell of a villain! way better than any of the Sonic villains i've seen.
This game is an example of what kind of 2d platformers need to come back. Nowadays in indie titles we get extremely hard stuff like Super Meat Boy, Spelunky, La-Mulana and such. I'm not saying they're bad. In fact I love those games. But Freedom Planet and Shovel Knight are setting an example for what TYPE of platformer really needs to return more often.

Yeah he's a tough final boss by my standards. He's the kind that EVEN if you know his openings, he still will be a pain to beat. Normally I would cut out the fails but the music was too good hahaha.
Yeah that music. It's the only reason I still hammered away at beating him, but then he's a REALLY good foe to begin with, I was surprised of how well they developed him in the game. Cause he really could back himself up. He had that, I can do it, because I can and he could XD. It also caused me to remix his tune lol couldn't get it out of my head.
He's so fast that you cant see his patterns hell him catching and throwing you was the most unprepared moment I had

The final boss is the best I've ever seen, Lord Brevon's voice is awesome, the level design is pitch perfect, boss fights are the best I've ever seen, and the final four levels? Good golly!!
This game for me ranks right up there with Shovel Knight, Shantae and the Pirates Curse, and Cave Story (

Man, like alot of others are saying, I love how Brevon can walk the walk and once he loses his machines, he's just as dangerous. When I finally got to him and got through his first two phases after one or two tries, I knew shit was real when he's the ONLY enemy in the whole game that can grab Lilac out of a Dragon Boost. I love how his pattern is different than most of the bosses where he just goes full ham and charges after you over and over.

I remember playing this game for the first time. I died 31 times, and 16 of those deaths were from this stage alone. And I was play on Easy. EASY. But it was worth it.

I lost WAY more lives with Carol than Lilac. I didn't get here with Milla in Classic Mode just yet. I wonder how that'll turn out with her low health.
I wish she had an Adventure Mode too...even though she was with Carol mostly.
This game is fun. I'm glad I bought it.
Milla will get her Adventure mode sometime in their future. Torque and Spade will also be playable.

This game is comparable to a Sonic game in terms of quality... and I'm talking about Sonic Mania.
Honestly it's a notch above Sonic Mania simply because it didn't rely on levels from old games like Mania did.

Welp, after seeing SomecallmeJohnny's review and this video, I'll definitely be checking this game out when I get the chance. Although it was Sonic inspired, this game seems to have some originality going for itself and sure as hell looks like it knows how to please fans of 2d platformers.

THIS GUY. Jesus. Brevon requires speed, precision, and skill. He's probably one of the most difficult final bosses I've faced.
For the record Freedom Planet is a fun, cheerful, sweet, sugary, and light-hearted with the vile and evil villain Lord Brevon who's the worst video game villain compared to M.Bison from the Street Fighter series but is even worse than M.Bison and fights differently from M.Bison in some ways but Lord Brevon's cape attack is compared to M.Bison's psycho crusher for some matter. Lord Brevon may use machines in battle compared to Dr.Eggman from the Sonic the Hedgehog series but Brevon can also fight in combat on the ground and Lord Brevon is a lot worse than Dr.Eggman who's just a scientist. Where Lord Brevon who's a warlord. The final boss Lord Brevon in the Freedom Planet game is intense, epic, and is one of the hardest boss fights in video games and it will take everything you've got to defeat Lord Brevon. More importantly Lord Brevon crossed the line and went too far mutating Lilac's cute friend Milla and turning Milla against Lilac which angers Lilac and goes after Brevon. When Lilac defeats Brevon she angrily gives Lord Brevon a major beat down big time when he crossed the line and went too far for hurting Milla. Mind-control is one thing but mutating is going too far. When Brevon's begins to self-destruct he escapes and so does Lilac in an escape pod. Lilac and friends are happy that Milla is alive as she recovers and everybody looks up and sees that the kingdom stone has changed form and the world and the earth is saved from the vile and evil monster Brevon and everyone has their lives back and Prince Dail becomes the new king in his father's place. Torque thanks his friends for helping him and he tells his friends that they will all see each other again and says goodbye to them and flies back to his home planet. Freedom Planet is the best retro game ever compared to Sonic 3 and Knuckles.

Tell me, who canonically saves the day exactly? Lilac or Carol or both? It can't be Spade cuz he buggers off after the second last level, not Torque cuz he stays behind and not Milla cuz she gets caught by Brevon.
mrwizzardknight I think it's both really, as for Spade well, he's coming with Torque and Milla's Adventure Mode later this year. I might actually record Spade's exclusive final stage (yes he will have a different final stage/boss apparently). The new content's meant to come out probably much much later this year, it's public info.

Yeah I can only imagine, although this was recorded before they fixed up Brevon's last form few weeks into the release, because he could insta-kill you with his blade. It was a bug where the damage was dealt every frame cue suddenly taking out your entire lifebar.

I fucking hate this bossfight. Not because it's hard, but because I've accidentally quit on the third phase 4 fucking times when trying to restart after losing too much health, and had to replay the whole fucking level multiple times as a result. Still haven't beaten the fucker yet.

The game was originally a Sonic Fangame, but changed to being the developers own original title with Genesis inspired game elements. Mainly that of the original Sonic and Sparkster.

+Jared Groebner No, its not the same. Speed is not a big factor here, rather combat is. Sonic is speed, platforming and timing. I perfer Sonics Final Bosses of the original over this... as they arent a cluster and are very difficult to do with no or even some rings in Sonic 3K bosses. Both are very good, lets just see what Mania has against Freedom Planet
