I think that this process, it's not fair. My wife it's an amazing Biologist and researcher. She got accepted in a Post Doctoral program in the Smithsonian Institute, and she is now under this administrative process. She sent all the information require, and she didn't receive any answer from more than 80 days!. She is very worried about it, because the deadline it's in January 2023. Hi .. I have got 221g . I went for a drop box appointment . I went for my H1b renewal. I was in usa and came to india for my personal vacation. In my case nothing is changed either the location nor the employer or the client . I went for drop Box April 20 and got 221G on May 3rd asking for filled LCA. good afternoon, I faced an unclear situation for myself, I was interviewed in Frankfurt and the consul said that the visa for you and your family was approved, the passports will be issued in a week. After the past week, we did not receive a passport, and 10 days later we saw on the website the status that our case was under administrative inspection.The difficulty is that the email address specified in d160 has ceased to be valid and there is no access to it anymore.Perhaps the consulate requested any documents and we did not provide them. We wrote several letters to the consulate with different statuses to receive a response and they replied once that the case was being checked. How to find out what to do now, it seems that the matter is at a dead end, because we do not understand what exactly they want from us since the mail does not work and the one we wrote to the consulate did not ask for any additional information?

Hi Rob, I attended my H1B visa interview on 22nd February, 2024 at US embassy in Accra. My passport was kept by the VO and i was made to pay the reciprocity fees. I was then given a white paper saying that my case has been put in administrative processing. On 26th of February, 2024 the embassy called me on phone to ask for my degree certificate number and student Id number. Since then, i haven't heard from them and anytime i check my status on the ceac platform, it says "refused ". In my case, how long is it gonna take for my visa to be approved? Thanks so much.

Mandy is a former visa officer, she should have explain step by step insight process that what they check during this process and why it takes too long to complete. It is only for NIVs and finally booking appointment, paying fee and go ahead. But this video is not very helpful

Hi Rob, I am a new immigrant green card holder under eb3 visa. My dependants had thier interview in home country in june 2024. 221g was given due to pre visa medical not done, which we did and submitted everything. Ceac status says refused since the day of the interview. Now when i emailed embassy for follwup on thier case/passports collection. They sent us the passports with no visa, and no explanation document or any letter. Ceac still says refused. I dont what to do now? Does it mean visa is denied?

Hi, I am in a similar situation. My admission letter says that I will work as an RA as well. The officer told me that due to my the nature of my research they need to put my visa on administrative processing and they asked me to submit a research plan, my admission letter and a cv with a list of publications. It has been 60 days now since my interview. Another friend was also appointed an RA and was in the same situation, but she got her visa after 52 days.
My visa interview held on 2nd January 2024 at the US Consulate Of Hyderabad,India. After the round of interview my assognd visa officer said that "CONGRATULATIONS YOUR VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED" and kept my passport with him. Hi Rob, I actually had my visa recently placed in 221g. I was already in the United States and got my H1B approved, I just wanted to go outside of the US to an embassy in order to get the H1B Visa stamp on my passport. I had the interview on March 22nd and everything went well, the interviewer even approved my visa on the spot and said everything looked good. It wasn't until the next day that I got an email stating that now my visa was placed on Administrative Processing and I needed to fill out the form DS-5535 which I submitted immediately. I am still waiting for it and I really need to return to my job. Any recommendations on what to do?
Yes i face the same challenge but they gave me also visa approved paper and they stuck in 221(g) paper also to check DNA checking in laboratory i did DNA test in 2014 result is positive

How about this. I needed nonimmigrant B2 visa waiver of ineligibility. I went to interview with every possible document plus... But they simply said don't need them and everything looks fine. 221g form asked for information and documents which I provided at the same day. Received confirmation email the same day, few minutes later. Since that, hold yourself... 19 months my application is still stuck at AP. Any clue...?

When I collected passport, there was no stamping but there was 221g sheet. In that sheet they selected a check box asking to appear for interview on 5th August. What could be the reason? I already hold H4 (expiring in August) and B1 visa.
We had 221g for k1 visa for pictures of her deceased husband funeral and receipt for the funeral we send the documents on the same day of the interview it been over a month I called and had my case escalated to post I called and emailed periodically and they kept her passport and I confirmed they received the documents

When the interviews done the embassy officer gave me the letter (white letter and typed "your us visa has been approved"). Hello! I was verbally approved in Montreal back in January, but the officer kept my passport due to my medical not having arrived yet. I received confirmation that they received my medical documents only 2 days after my interview. It has been 7 weeks now and I haven't heard anything. Could this delay signal a potential issue with my application? This waiting is so stressful 😢
@@JordonxoxShawxox I got my visa almost 2 months afterwards (March, 15th). We did contact our congressman 1 week prior they emitted the visa, so my advise would be for you to try and do the same as I think it really help our case. Best of luck!

got a 221 g in Toronto canada and yes born and raised in Canada.. the officer checked off investment (substantial, proportional at risk, irrevocably committed) then wrote next to it "summary". He handed back our passports and told us to email the information. what does that mean? we are wanting to start a home renovation business in florida .

I had an immigration interview with my mother and father in law on 2nd may 2024. My wife is a US citizen. The consular officer gave all of us 221 g slips(no documents were required) and two boxes were ticked 1) administrative processing 2) passport (submit via courier) The consular office didn't keep our passports Since 2nd may 2024 our cases got updated two times. Hey Rob thank you, it was indeed a great video. So I had my IR1 interview at US embassy mumbai. So in our scenario the Visa officer asked me 20 questions, my husband is in US since 21 years he moved there with his parents, Visa officer asked me what was your father in laws age when your husband moved to US. I was not aware as I never asked. I said I don't know I never asked. Visa officer said your husband didn't told you important information. And in the end he gave me 221g white slip. Slip says unfortunately they cannot give me Visa as my file is incomplete. Also the officer was kind enough, on asking he said we will be re- checking on whatever you said now. I am confused. Can you pls guide on this.

I think you can say you are more passionate about the course you are going to study in the US that is if you switched course but if not then you have to talk on things like teaching strategies.
Hi Rob, I interviewed on March 14, 2023 (IR1), and received a green paper with 11 items (221g). I added 11 items and sent them back on March 16, 2023, but as of October 26, 2023, there was still no result. Please let me know when the visa will be approved. thanks a lot!
Hello thank you for your videos they are really helpful. I had my interview yesterday and the consular said that the interview went well but my application was put on Administrative processing. She said that she didn’t know why which got me confused. All I saw was that there was a lot of typing during the interview after which she handed me the 221g form and told me to check my email from time to time. What could be the cause. I recently changed my I20 after filling the first ds160, then changes were made as I had changed my degree. I then filled another ds160. When I went to the interview I used the new details. Could that be the cause.

I applied together with my wife and children for an F1 visa for myself and F2 visas for my wife and our two children in Colombia - South America. The interview was on August 1, and there I was told that my visa was approved, but for my wife and children, I was missing the children's birth certificates and our marriage certificate. I was given a 221g form with instructions to email the documents, which I sent on the same day. On August 5, I was informed via email that they had received the documents or had forwarded them to the officer in charge. Taking these things into account, when I check the status of their process, it still says "refused," even though I have already received my F1 visa. Do you think there is a chance that my wife and children will receive their visas before the start of classes on August 27?

Interview on may 3rd 2022, got 221g for more court documents and tickets citations. I dropped them off yesterday 06/09/22. My visa will be approved when? I didn’t need any other documents except court papers…..Guatemala city embassy replies to my emails on a daily basis. But I did learn I will inquire every ten days. However, it's been stuck for about a month now after sending a document acknowledging proof of domicile for my daughter who's the petitioner. I have to mention that she lives in canada with us, but she is also domicile in the US. In the CEAC portal, we've noticed that it's been uploaded but not accepted yet. Question. At the interview I was told I was approved and got a letter stating that I was gonna get everything back in 10 days. When I actually went to collect I got the administrative letter on the white piece of paper. Why would this be? It states that no further action is required and I should just be on standby to provide an updated picture and hold on to the same letter I got back. This case seems to be the odd one out and I’m hoping for some clarity because my letter requests that I don’t reach out before a three month period from my interview date elapses.

We had our family immigration visa (F31) interview on 19th March 2024. The officer gave us a 221g slip and ticked some documents that she asked us to submit. She also ticked on the box which said to send passports via courier. After that our visa status showed refused. We submitted all the ticked documents on 15th April. Our case got updated on 23rd April but still showed refused. It got updated again on 25th April then on the 29th of April but still shows refused. Any idea why

I have been thinking whether to write an email to NIV or not but after watching this video I sent email and got a reply. Today I sent my passport, will update you once I get my passport with visa. Hi Rob,thanks for the 221g refusal discussion. My son's case is very different the VO told that the Sevis fee which was paid is not updated in their website. Vo told that reschedule the visa appointment after paying. In this case how much time they will take for reschedule, only 20days is there to attend the college. It was happened 24/04/23 today.

Hello sir, why does ceac shows the message that all your documents are received and approved and consular officer refuse the visa after the interview asking for additional financial documents? Also the officer didnot mention anything on what to do next? Should i wait to hear from them thru email/CEAC message or upload new financial documents right away in ceac for further processing? what does it mean by officer has adjudicated and refuse your visa? Its so much hassle that these officers doesnot explain anything at all. Also my refusal paper doesnot have administrative processing ticked and my passport and rest of the documents were given to me right after the interview. My visa class is IR5. Hi. I got a 221g on January 2022. 6 months down the line,i got a letter from councilate asking me to get a notarized withdrawl letter from my employer and drop it along with the passports for my case to be considered further. This is a employement based case

I called the cosulate after being approved and say mybstatus changed to refused the same day i called to follow up on my visa. Not sure why as i was honest and niw 2bdays after the refuse status no email received for additional documents
Hi, my visa stuck under the administrative process for more than 3 months. I talked to a lawyer and we filed a "writ of mandamus". The US court approved the writ of mandamus and we sent a message to the US visa office to mandate a response on my visa within 60 days, maximum. If your visa is stuck for more than 60 days and the visa office did not give an answer for why there is a delay. I highly recommend talking to a lawyer about this option. From my experience of traveling the world, the US is the worst country regarding visas. They are super suspicious about everyone and they are trying to protect the country from everyone even if the US southern border is wide open. Hollywood movies got them right!

Hello my fiancé had his interview on 3-26-24 in Mumbai the officer kept asking him if he was married before n his answer is non which is the truth n proof can be easily found. The officer gave him a 221g form n told him to wait for an email n said not to worry that everything is ok. We haven’t received an email but noticed the case was sent back to NVC under administrative process. We r worried as we don’t know why it was sent to NVC and if there will be a positive outcome from this. Do u think the case was sent to NVC to investigate if he was married ? Which he hasn’t been?

I think that this process, it's not fair. My wife it's an amazing Biologist and researcher. She got accepted in a Post Doctoral program in the Smithsonian Institute, and she is now under this administrative process. She sent all the information require, and she didn't receive any answer from more than 80 days!. She is very worried about it, because the deadline it's in January 2023. We don't know what else we can do!

Hey rob thanks for the informative video. I just had my B1 visa interview as a TCN from US Embassy in Bangkok on 15th December 2022. I was issued a 221g White slip with reason as other. The VO wrote admin review. Also i was aksed when am i flying back to my country. And i answerd 20th December. After that he said, we will let you know before that. I am really scared my case doesn't get hold up for long. I am in a third county US EMBASSY.

Hi .. I have got 221g . I went for a drop box appointment . I went for my H1b renewal. I was in usa and came to india for my personal vacation. In my case nothing is changed either the location nor the employer or the client . I went for drop Box April 20 and got 221G on May 3rd asking for filled LCA. I have submitted the LCA to the email provided in the 221G letter. It’s been 10 days I have not seen any change in my status. So could you please suggest what can be done in my case

good afternoon, I faced an unclear situation for myself, I was interviewed in Frankfurt and the consul said that the visa for you and your family was approved, the passports will be issued in a week. After the past week, we did not receive a passport, and 10 days later we saw on the website the status that our case was under administrative inspection.The difficulty is that the email address specified in d160 has ceased to be valid and there is no access to it anymore.Perhaps the consulate requested any documents and we did not provide them. We wrote several letters to the consulate with different statuses to receive a response and they replied once that the case was being checked. How to find out what to do now, it seems that the matter is at a dead end, because we do not understand what exactly they want from us since the mail does not work and the one we wrote to the consulate did not ask for any additional information?

I attended my H1B visa interview on 22nd February, 2024 at US embassy in Accra. My passport was kept by the VO and i was made to pay the reciprocity fees. I was then given a white paper saying that my case has been put in administrative processing. On 26th of February, 2024 the embassy called me on phone to ask for my degree certificate number and student Id number. Since then, i haven't heard from them and anytime i check my status on the ceac platform, it says "refused ". In my case, how long is it gonna take for my visa to be approved? Thanks so much.

I am a new immigrant green card holder under eb3 visa. My dependants had thier interview in home country in june 2024. 221g was given due to pre visa medical not done, which we did and submitted everything. Ceac status says refused since the day of the interview.

Hi, I am in a similar situation. My admission letter says that I will work as an RA as well. The officer told me that due to my the nature of my research they need to put my visa on administrative processing and they asked me to submit a research plan, my admission letter and a cv with a list of publications. It has been 60 days now since my interview.
Another friend was also appointed an RA and was in the same situation, but she got her visa after 52 days.
How long is too long. When should we sue for a decision. It shouldn't be this hard . The philipines NBI sent the letter of explanation on June 25
My visa interview held on 2nd January 2024 at the US Consulate Of Hyderabad,India.
After the round of interview my assognd visa officer said that "CONGRATULATIONS YOUR VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED" and kept my passport with him.
But as now when i check my passport status on the CEAC PASSPORT TRACKING website i see that it is showing "REFUSED"

I actually had my visa recently placed in 221g.
I was already in the United States and got my H1B approved, I just wanted to go outside of the US to an embassy in order to get the H1B Visa stamp on my passport. I had the interview on March 22nd and everything went well, the interviewer even approved my visa on the spot and said everything looked good. It wasn't until the next day that I got an email stating that now my visa was placed on Administrative Processing and I needed to fill out the form DS-5535 which I submitted immediately.
I am still waiting for it and I really need to return to my job. Any recommendations on what to do?

Hello, I did my interview yesterday and the VO told me so far all is good about my application and gave me a form "collecting your US VISA" to use to retrieve my visa from DHL office. Checking my visa status on the website with my case ID I saw "Administrative Processing" . What does this implies. Thanks Rob

How about this. I needed nonimmigrant B2 visa waiver of ineligibility. I went to interview with every possible document plus... But they simply said don't need them and everything looks fine. 221g form asked for information and documents which I provided at the same day. Received confirmation email the same day, few minutes later. Since that, hold yourself... 19 months my application is still stuck at AP.

Hi, thanks for sharing the useful information. I recently submitted my documents for F1 Visa in a Dropbox appointment in Chennai. After 2 days, i got message to collect my passport. When I collected passport, there was no stamping but there was 221g sheet. In that sheet they selected a check box asking to appear for interview on 5th August. What could be the reason? We had 221g for k1 visa for pictures of her deceased husband funeral and receipt for the funeral we send the documents on the same day of the interview it been over a month I called and had my case escalated to post I called and emailed periodically and they kept her passport and I confirmed they received the documents

Well if it is refused then it seems like a denial. If it is still pending as 221g then there is possibility for either way according to this video.

got a 221 g in Toronto canada and yes born and raised in Canada.. the officer checked off investment (substantial, proportional at risk, irrevocably committed) then wrote next to it "summary". Hey Rob thank you, it was indeed a great video. So I had my IR1 interview at US embassy mumbai. So in our scenario the Visa officer asked me 20 questions, my husband is in US since 21 years he moved there with his parents, Visa officer asked me what was your father in laws age when your husband moved to US. I was not aware as I never asked. I said I don't know I never asked. Visa officer said your husband didn't told you important information.
And in the end he gave me 221g white slip.
Slip says unfortunately they cannot give me Visa as my file is incomplete. Also the officer was kind enough, on asking he said we will be re- checking on whatever you said now.

There is no perfect answer. What’s matters is telling the truth in a way that makes sense to the VO. How you would explain it?
I think you can say you are more passionate about the course you are going to study in the US that is if you switched course but if not then you have to talk on things like teaching strategies.

Hello thank you for your videos they are really helpful. I had my interview yesterday and the consular said that the interview went well but my application was put on Administrative processing. She said that she didn’t know why which got me confused. All I saw was that there was a lot of typing during the interview after which she handed me the 221g form and told me to check my email from time to time. What could be the cause. I recently changed my I20 after filling the first ds160, then changes were made as I had changed my degree. I then filled another ds160. When I went to the interview I used the new details. Could that be the cause.

I applied together with my wife and children for an F1 visa for myself and F2 visas for my wife and our two children in Colombia - South America. The interview was on August 1, and there I was told that my visa was approved, but for my wife and children, I was missing the children's birth certificates and our marriage certificate. I was given a 221g form with instructions to email the documents, which I sent on the same day. On August 5, I was informed via email that they had received the documents or had forwarded them to the officer in charge. Taking these things into account, when I check the status of their process, it still says "refused," even though I have already received my F1 visa. Do you think there is a chance that my wife and children will receive their visas before the start of classes on August 27?

Interview on may 3rd 2022, got 221g for more court documents and tickets citations. I dropped them off yesterday 06/09/22. My visa will be approved when? I didn’t need any other documents except court papers…..Guatemala city embassy replies to my emails on a daily basis. But I did learn I will inquire every ten days. I and my wife was recently interviewed (DV lottery) in April, and were issued 221g to submit additional evidence with my spouse and we did on 1, May and they give a small paper that says they would get back in 60 days. Till now our case at Ceac is still READY

Hi, thank you for your video. In my case, I've been filling for a US immigrant visa which is now at NVC. However, it's been stuck for about a month now after sending a document acknowledging proof of domicile for my daughter who's the petitioner. I have to mention that she lives in canada with us, but she is also domicile in the US. In the CEAC portal, we've noticed that it's been uploaded but not accepted yet. Question. At the interview I was told I was approved and got a letter stating that I was gonna get everything back in 10 days. When I actually went to collect I got the administrative letter on the white piece of paper.
Why would this be?
It states that no further action is required and I should just be on standby to provide an updated picture and hold on to the same letter I got back.
This case seems to be the odd one out and I’m hoping for some clarity because my letter requests that I don’t reach out before a three month period from my interview date elapses.

Good morning,my name is udeze Sunday in Lagos Nigeria and I went for my k1 visa interview and was given a 221g form and requested for some additional documents including my passport and I provided it and submitted it at the DHL office…and when i submitted it at the DHL office ,I was given a white paper telling me when to come and collect my approved visa …and my status changed to passport is with the us embassy /consulate…so am still waiting till when they would contact me to come collect my passport back…so pls I need more insight on this

We had our family immigration visa (F31) interview on 19th March 2024. The officer gave us a 221g slip and ticked some documents that she asked us to submit. She also ticked on the box which said to send passports via courier. After that our visa status showed refused. We submitted all the ticked documents on 15th April. Our case got updated on 23rd April but still showed refused. It got updated again on 25th April then on the 29th of April but still shows refused. Any idea why

Hi Rob, this is great video. Upon you guys suggestion, I sent out an email to follow up on my 221(g) after 3 months of client inquiry. To my surprise, I got a reply asking to submit passport. I have been thinking whether to write an email to NIV or not but after watching this video I sent email and got a reply. Today I sent my passport, will update you once I get my passport with visa. Hi Rob,thanks for the 221g refusal discussion. My son's case is very different the VO told that the Sevis fee which was paid is not updated in their website. Vo told that reschedule the visa appointment after paying. In this case how much time they will take for reschedule, only 20days is there to attend the college. It was happened 24/04/23 today.
You can reapply for visa interview anytime, so just do it as soon as you can after payment is cleared

Hello sir, why does ceac shows the message that all your documents are received and approved and consular officer refuse the visa after the interview asking for additional financial documents? Also the officer didnot mention anything on what to do next? Should i wait to hear from them thru email/CEAC message or upload new financial documents right away in ceac for further processing? what does it mean by officer has adjudicated and refuse your visa? Its so much hassle that these officers doesnot explain anything at all. Also my refusal paper doesnot have administrative processing ticked and my passport and rest of the documents were given to me right after the interview. My visa class is IR5. I been is a 221g process for a k-2 visa for 14 days already it keeps showing the dates changing but still the same refused status. All they asked for was a birth certificate because we didn’t have the original. I have been waiting two Weeks for some sort of Change.

Hi, my visa stuck under the administrative process for more than 3 months. I talked to a lawyer and we filed a "writ of mandamus". The US court approved the writ of mandamus and we sent a message to the US visa office to mandate a response on my visa within 60 days, maximum.
If your visa is stuck for more than 60 days and the visa office did not give an answer for why there is a delay. I highly recommend talking to a lawyer about this option.
From my experience of traveling the world, the US is the worst country regarding visas.
They are super suspicious about everyone and they are trying to protect the country from everyone even if the US southern border is wide open. Hollywood movies got them right!

Hello my fiancé had his interview on 3-26-24 in Mumbai the officer kept asking him if he was married before n his answer is non which is the truth n proof can be easily found. The officer gave him a 221g form n told him to wait for an email n said not to worry that everything is ok. We haven’t received an email but noticed the case was sent back to NVC under administrative process. We r worried as we don’t know why it was sent to NVC and if there will be a positive outcome from this. Do u think the case was sent to NVC to investigate if he was married ? Which he hasn’t been?
