  • Another evening firewood session in the Southeast of England. Tonight i'm using an old 4lb Staffordshire Miner's pattern to split these Ash rounds i bucked up with the new Stihl 500i in the last video.
    Enjoy!

    Nice work! I really need to get out and cut up some firewood. I’ve spent too much time with an axe and not enough with a saw. Lol

      I'm feeling the opposite, desperately looking for a tree to process with an axe!
      It's so hot here still I've barely been doing anything physical during the day lately.

      @@elemental4rce it’s been ridiculously hot here too. I lucked out this year and have had plenty of wood to chop. I only swing an axe in the early morning or in the evening after it’s cooled down. Definitely not getting out in middle of the day. Way to hot for that lol

    Good stuff mate, that’s a really nice axe. Did you make that handle or is it store bought? Cheers!

      Store bought on this one. Nothing special and it doesn't fit great 😂

    I can imagine the shrieks of horror from the woodworkers as you split that spalted slab at 3:20!
    Any special grind or the like on the axe? Or is that ash that easy to split?

    • @elemental4rce
      @elemental4rce  Před 2 lety +1

      don't! it took me a fair bit of willpower to log up those nice lengths of Ash. Would have been a few prime handle blanks in there!

    Easy splitting is such a joy. Can use many different axes with a similar result, even if they're light. I hope to find some nice timber like this soon. Good stress reducing video here.

      Nothing like straight grained ash. That’s my favorite. Although I’d love to have a go at some of Buckin’s Douglas Fir. Looks like it pops if you stare at it hard enough.

    Wow! Cool looking axe. Looks like it splits very well. What kind is it and where can I get one?

      All in the description! I think it's a Gilpin but i can't remember offhand. VERY wedgey profile, great for splitting this wood.
