  • Today, we put Gyeon Q2M PRIMER through the Apex Detail Review Process! Q² Primer is an ultra-light finish and SiO2 primer. It provides superb pre-coating surface preparation and an incredibly glossy finish. Its main aim is to perfect the finish on the paints which are hardest to work with, dramatically reducing the risk of scratch marks during the final wipe off before coating. Q² Primer leaves a smooth and slick surface, ready to coat.

    Urofiber Pads....www.amazon.com...
Work with a polishing machine of your choice. Spread at low revs. Work until fully diminished at medium revs. Wipe off with an HQ microfiber. If you’re willing to coat immediately after use, wipe surface with Q²M Prep after at least 15 minutes since Q² Primer has been used. Coating might be applied directly on Q² Primer without Q²M Prep wipe down after 24 hours.

About Gyeon, I just buffed my boat gel coat and coated it with Gyeon Pure. The shine is outstanding. I know Gyeon has a gel coat coating but I had plenty of Pure after my MDX was coated and I had to try it. It does work well but I found a few places I scuffed afterwards. I wished there was a product that made gel coat more scuff resistant.
I will see how it buffs out when I can get to it.

It could also cause blue staining on some paints, in my case it did on a solid white paint.. So just be mindful and check your section pass closely.. The staining wouldn't go away with gyeon prep and required fine polish (or a strong cleanser like DP prep) to get rid of it (lucky i had done half hood only).

@@paulgyro I thought Tac Systems temporarily closed down. I personally just used LVR403, it makes a good finish polish for black or dark colored vehicles. I imagine the Turtle Wax is great for what it is. If you are going for show car quality you are stuck with Gyeon or Carpro. Xtreme Solutions has a product call helios for white or light colored vehicles. I think if I was going to lay down a ceramic coating like CSL I would do the Gyeon. Use the LVR for non ceramic type of protection. Use TW Hybrid Solution as its family of TW products or maybe even Meguiars Liquid hybrid wax. I could be wrong.

@@donaldgreen9292 I love LVR403 on my Black BMW. Much easier to work with then Essence which doesn't wipe off well at all...doubles the time it takes. I was considering Gyeon but wanted a review before doing so. I think I'll pick some of this up as it cures much faster then LV403 which takes 24-48 hours. You are right about TAC Systems currently being shut down.

Wouldn't it be a bad idea to put a ceramic coating over a weaker ceramic product? Folks have always said put the most durable product down first to give it the best possible contact, not that I agree with this but more interested in your thoughts.
I've always felt it didn't matter and liked to put on a carnuba based wax first, followed by a good sealant in order to offer more protection and extent the life of the carnuba under it. Apples, and oranges to a degree but the idea is more or less the same. Folks enjoy saying the carnuba will fail faster and as it does it would compromise the sealant on top of it accelerating the failure. I feel the sealant should be able to protect the carnuba based wax under it (since it's goal is to protect the paint and block UV) if it's strong enough to protect the paint from environmental exposure it should should suggest the same for a wax underneath. Which ultimately offers a higher level of protection, and water characteristics on the outside layer, protecting the added gloss from carnuba longer.

Great Video Brian and THANK YOU for posting! Can you help me understand how to obtain better “Clarity” in my finish? I have a 2018 Toyota Tundra magnetic gray color with no swirl marks what so ever, I invested in a panel light and I try to find swirls and there just aren’t any. But I wanted to take the paint to another level of gloss. I washed, clayed, and then used McKee’s 37 360 all-in-one with orange CCS Lake Country foam pads, set at speed 4 on my Maxshine M15 pro series ll polisher, using moderate arm speed with two passes using the cross hatch pattern. This was my very first time ever polishing, and it was a great experience, had a ton of fun doing it. The gloss is very nice, I can see my reflection pretty well, but it still seems some what of a “blurry” like glossy image, not real crisp, like it could have more “clarity” to it. For my next go around, what could I change in my arsenal to get better clarity in the finish? Thx again!

Like anything, you can do it by hand, but I doubt whether the results would be as good and it's going to take more time.

If you coat your car with carpro after this and then reload and it does not get wet in the first 24 hours but gets wet with rain after that will this affect the coating? I as as i want to try this but I don't have a garage. Tks

24 hours without getting wet is fine for almost any coating. Just don't wash the car

U can but there's very little abrasives in these primers. Your better off correcting the stuff that needs it with a 3d1 or something like that. But these primers are mainly used to jewel as they say.

Similar, but these polishes in the video is better for coatings and they are more evolved in this category. Xtreme solutions lvr 403 is one of the bests in my opinion along with Brian’s

    • @jimmyallen3850

No if you use gyeon you can either wait 24 hours and not have to wipe down with IPA or you can use an IPA and wait until your done polishing.
