- In today's video, I reflect on the video game No Man's Sky (2016). It has changed a lot since its release, and I recently played it on PS5. It was super enjoyable, however, there are still some issues with it! #nomanssky #ps5 #videogames

I’m 600+ hours into NMS, one of my favorite all time games. Was definitely rough at first but I’ve had years of great memories with the game and I’m so proud of Hello Games for their commitment to the title.
That's a lot of hours! Keep it up.
I played no mans sky back in 2016 for about 80 hours😭😭😭 the set pieces got me ngl. It never gets okd to see how beautiful space is. I got it again today on pc and holy fuck. I dont want to stop.

Watching NMS go from bare bones nothing to one of the biggest sci fi games out there to date was like watching a kid growing up. Seeing NMS Next update get teased was absolutely awesome and to be honest i really do kinda miss the early first person days of the game (playing the very first iteration on Christmas Day was a blast aha) but im glad its come so far, better late than never i suppose. As someone who played this game on and off ever since it first came out, i really gotta get back into it and give it another good go. I hope Starfield can evolve like this because i love sci fi to death and there’s nothing i hate more than wasted potential. No signs of slowing down, so proud of Hello Games. Brilliant video 💙
Thank you for the kind words! Yeah, NMS has changed for the better.
A small comment: when you access deserted storage units it doesn't _give_ you dirt. You need to remove the dirt in order to access the contents. You can throw away this dirt or choose to save it, as it can be refined into other things or even sold at a small price. After you have removed the dirt it will give you the contents of the box.
Thanks for sharing this. It's super helpful
@@oliversmuharalternatively you could just read the text that's in the game and explicitly there to tell you exactly this lol. This is not some hidden mechanic or w/e
@oliversmuhar you can also use this scrap to trade with a certain trader
@@Ace_Bandido808 Thanks for letting me know!
I preordered it back in 2016 and played it launch day too. I feel u bro. But after this year anticipated Starfield, replayed NMS and boy was I happy 😊
Hell yeah. I'm happy for you!
I'm one of the few people that actually liked No Mans Sky when it came out! It was a fun game for me back then and is even better now!
Starfield brought No Mans Sky back to the forefront of gamers minds!
i started playing NMS in early 2022 only in VR and being in 1800+ hours since then. It's a total blast in VR and nothing really compares to this experience.
That's a lot of hours!
Its honestly overwhelming how much there is going on with this game. Im about 50 hours in and ive yet to get into fleet management or expeditions. I just started with my settlement
I love this game very much. It's been more than 500 hours and I haven't explored all of its content.
WOW! That's a lot of hours
@@oliversmuhar I have over 2000hrs on ps4 and xbox.. still finding things I have never seen:)
Ive noticed alot of these videos lately. The sad part is that this game has frankly been very good for years now.
starfield Effect
Fair enough. I haven't played Starfield, so I think it's just a coincidence. I've liked No Man's Sky since 2020 or so.
I’m thankful for all of these NMS in 2023 videos. They made me buy the game yesterday
@@oliversmuhar Funnily enough, HG *did* say that around the time Starfield released has apparently been their best in several years? :V
No Man's Sky is a must have game in 2023!
I started playing No Man's Sky on PSVR2 a few days ago and my god, its blowing my mind. This game must be experienced in VR.
I'd buy the PSVR2 just to play No Man's Sky....seriously.
That's awesome! I didn't know it had a VR option. Would 100% give that a go
PSVR2 is an experience!
Dude I know right?? I played it on PCVR with my Quest 2 and holy crap the immersion is INSANE, and once I got used to the controls it just feels so natural!
does it run good on pc now or you just have a really good rig? from what i've heard it had pretty poor performance @@LinkDragon512
The boxes give you dirt. ... are you walking away before you recieve the contents. You get rust from green boxes (because theyre rusted shut) BEFORE you recieve the contents. You just need to pause for a second or 2 before you leave. Same for technology modules which are gunked up with various gloops, you recieve viscious fluids or goop before collecting the main rewards. The 'dirt' can be refined into usable resources.
Thanks for the tip!
The animal crossing side of me is obsessed with building bases lol. I'm also not ashamed to say I turned crafting and money and fuel to free and I have no regrets. The game is so addicting and even without the challenge of gathering resources the game is still fun.
This man said “30 hours of experience that it is” meanwhile I started a 2 weeks ago and I have 100 hours and haven’t even touched the main story past getting exo crafts
I don't have enough time 'cause I'm trying to videos. But that's awesome!
Just bought NMS and I’m having a blast. It’s gorgeous and fun to play. Great job to Hello games for all their efforts, hope you’ll keep on improving this gem.
Hell yeah. I hope you have a good time.
There's like, 5 alien languages-each with hundreds of words to learn. The more words you learn, the more you can understand what the aliens are saying. I'm not sure this would do well with voiced lines.
it was like a scam when it's released, but now it became a master-piece after thousands of patch.
Yeah, that's a good way at looking at it!
*thousands of FREE patches... that makes a big difference in my eyes, they stood by it and made good on their promises, for no additional cost
That's a good point
Wasn't a scam it was a wave of misfortune.
People forget that Sony is the scammer.
These guys wanted to make a game. Corporate pressure called it good enough, and wanted the release ASAP.
As always, HG took the reputation hit, but it was corpos pushing that failed it.
No Man's Sky and Stellaris are my go-to games now.
Sure everyone sees a theme.....
after this year and Starfield loading screens, replayed NMS and DAM was I smiling the whole time playing it!
I'm happy for you!
Day 1 player and still love it and I'm sometimes give out things to other players on the anomaly
I build a massive city in the game one day and it was so much fun. I also love roleplaying as a robot pirate/mercenary and blowing up large with friends fleets lol
That's awesome, man! Keep it up
Nice video. I'm a day one player, and one of the rare people who loved the game at launch. I've played it since then on multiple systems, have a few thousand hours into the game overall, and am still completely hooked. This game is amazing. There are quite a few quests to follow and complete, but the real meat of the game for me lies in exploring and collecting things. There's always some perfect ship or multitool or other thing I'm trying to find/upgrade/max out. New content and expeditions are added at a pretty solid pace, which helps keep things fresh.
One of the things I love about this game is just how many ways you can customize the gameplay/difficulty. If you want a more "cozy" experience, you can turn off damage and pirate attacks, turn on infinite resources, and just relax. If you want a super challenging experience, turn all the difficulty settings to the max and lock the game on permadeath mode. Or anything in between those two extremes. There aren't many games out there that can be either the coziest of cozy games or the toughest of survival games, but NMS pulls it off perfectly.
I have a few different saves that I switch between depending on what sort of experience I want that day. My main file has all my equipment maxed out and is pretty relaxing to play now. I also have an "Iron Man challenge" run going. Iron Man runs require permadeath turned on and all difficulty settings bumped up to the max. You have to completely ignore your starter ship, and you win if you're able to survive and max out all of your suit's inventory before leaving the first system. The difference in how I play the game on my main save versus the Iron Man save is immense. I love that NMS allows that level of variety.
I'm glad you decided to give NMS another chance. It's cool to see so many people jumping into the game in recent weeks. Hello Games has released so much content - it really is a totally different game today than when it first released. Thanks for encouraging others to give it a shot.
Thanks for the awesome comment and story! NMS is great. I'm glad it's found a strong fan base who (from all of the comments I've received) seem passionate and helpful. I think I'll give it another go after their next update. By then, I should have enough free time to give it a good go
It's way better now on psvr2. It got me back into NMS both in vr and even playing outside of vr which is a feat in itself because after playing vr I don't play non vr games anymore but this game I make an exception because I know I can come back and play in vr.
That random junk you get from random boxes, you convert it to other type of junk using the portable refiner, then into another type of junk, then into another type of junk, then into nanites. Nanites are very important in this game.
Residual Goop > Viscous Fluids > Living Slime > Runaway Mould > Nanites.
Residual Goop + Faecium = Gold
Poop + Poop = Gold, that's how this game works
Thanks for letting me know. Poop = Gold is a game fact
Loved your review, maan! You're super chill, funny, and overall relaxing to listen to. Great vibes.
Thank you, I appreciate the kind words!
Rusted metal scraps you can find in boxes i actually reccomend you keep coz you can refine it into a butt tonne of ferrite dust which is helpful for obvious reasons
Ehhhh, i dont, easier to just get in your ship and do it that way (or buy from terminals)
I was one of the few who loved the game from the start. That vibe you feel now, I felt from the very beginning. It's a very, very different game now, but many of the changes haven't added to that initial feeling for me. 1400 hours in, and still playing.
Hell yeah, that's awesome! Yeah, it's always had a feel, I'll be honest
my biggest issue with the game is an in-ability to hide space stations, and other peoples bases from your teleporter like in the dsicovery tab. i understand we have filters now but i still want to be able top delete an entry from the list as an autisic person its really overwelming to have 20 space stations ill never visit again permently on my teleporter, i always make new game files when it gets overwelming, its ironic because it causes me to focus less on exploring the glaaxy and more of trying to see how little i can warp to avoid being overwelmed with choices everytime i go to a tele. if they gave me the ability to hide the bases and stations from the list i would be more likely to put more then 30 hours in a save file. i know its a nitpick but it bothers me enough to influence how i play the game. ive had the game for years, and dont have a save file with more then 30 hours on it. im obviously a minority because if it was a common complaint it would have been fixed by now. ive considered learning how to mod for the sole purpose of fixing it myself. but that probably wont happen. It bothers me so much i would be willing to spend money on a dlc that included nothing but the ability to delete entrys from the teleporter
i would suggest saving a system you wanna revisit to your "Wonders", so if you go to a portal, you can know exactly the name of system you're looking for
No mans sky is a great sandbox
Hi! I am also re playing it and loving it. Collect all the "garbage" you get from opening random abandoned boxes, they can later be transformed in Nanites in your base!! you require a lot, but it is convenient!
Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate the tip and will look into this!
3:00 bro you move the slime/dirt to get the nanites . they flash on your screen at the bottom.
Thanks for letting me know.
Yea. Im so glad I came back. It's been 3 years and it is an incredible game now.
its still is better then starfield nms rules space genre❤
Exploring and talking about things with the boys, Relaxing.
the junk you get from opening things can be refined into nanites, thats why they come from all the boxes
I see. Thank you for letting me know. I look up Nanites and see what I can make with it
I think a reason why they probably won't do voice acting is ddue to the 4 alien races, 3000 potential learnable words in each language and that you will need multiple voices for variation. Would be very cool though
Yeah, I totally get this. It would also be super expensive to pay the actors. But, you never know, right!
THREE THOUSAND IN EACH!???
WELL FUCK...
I got a lot of words to learn.
Good luck. You have a lot of space stations and autophage camps ahead of you.
I was thinking this too. Voice acting would actually be immersion breaking in this game. The reason for that is the sheer number of systems that exist. There's no way Hello Games could hire enough voice actors for players to *not* start hearing the same voices again and again at each station, which doesn't fit the narrative at all. You're supposed to be meeting countless members of each race as you visit new systems - not the same members over and over again. HG could potentially voice the few aliens you meet more than once (Nada and Polo, for example), but that would just raise the question of why they can speak while others of the same species can't.
Voice acting is great, and I'm usually eager to hear it in more games. But as someone who's played and enjoyed NMS since launch, I just don't think it would fit in this game.
@@nicked_fenyx fair enough. I get your point
good vid man! keep up the good work
Thank you. This means a lot!
More the 2000 hours. Just need 1 damn expedition done, hope they do another repeat!!
I think it would be really weird if they added voice acting to the story to be honest , but idk
Fair
You should cook food. You can unlock the thing you need In the anomaly, and find food on all kinds of planet's you can use meat, plants and much more to try our cooking over 500 recepies. You can give one guy in the anomaly food and if it’s high quality and he gives you Nanites
Cool!
You actually went to a different galaxy after reaching the center, but yeah, the same concept
Thanks for verifying that. I knew I was slightly off
The inventory management is fine i.m.o
fair
Put the Junk in a refiner!
Rusted Metal gives you Ferrite Dust. The others are in a sequence that ultimately gets you Nanites.
Thanks for the tip!
Take some mushrooms and play in VR
there is voice acting in the game they are aliens after all they talk in their language not ours, this is like star wars would you believe in a Wookie if he talked like a human.
Good point. Maybe it need robotic voice acting, like a translator?
One thing that I wish hello games would add to no man’s sky is, immersion……I wish there were hands on animation to open things up or to craft things or to fix things, instead you just get a screen with a bunch of text or a picture and that’s it! I wish you could actually see your players hands moving around and grab things!
That would be awesome. This could be possible, maybe for the 10 year anniversary, but remember, Hello Games is a tiny studio. Like they're 1% of Bethesda Studios. But, yeah, fingers crossed as this would be sick!
@@oliversmuhar the only thing I can say to that is the fact that over the past years, they have been able to send out a hell of a lot of bug fixes/patches and a ton of extra content they didn’t charge extra for so, I would say adding this hands-on animation thing could definitely work, the question is…. have they thought of it and would they do it!?
@@derk4737 Fair point. I guess only time will tell
I bought it after they updated it a few times
Now it's had tons of updates and fixes, it is my main game currently and cannot stop playin. I absolutely love it, and now I can play it in the Steam Deck! Only until now I've looked up and it is playable offline, I've missed out so bad for so long lmao
Playing it on the Steam Deck would be dope!
love just treasure hunting for upgrades or setting a goal like mastering an alien language, haven't finished the main quest but there is something kinda off that explains the strange lack of realism but wont spoil here....16/16/16/16.. You are not Alone.
Just like Skyrim and Cyberpunk 2077.
Wait so can I buy a Xbox one game disc and update it to next gen graphics?
I'm not sure, but that's what worked on my play station
yes
Voice acting would'nt really work considering learning the language is a big part of the game
Fair enough
I dont think this game hasn't any real ending. You just keep playing by landing on countless world. (still looking for the one with all the dinosaurs) untill you get tited of it.
Have any real astronauts played this game?

Thank you for the advice. I will keep this in mind next time I make a gaming video
I think you should've played for a bit more before posting this, because the problems you had iron themselves out after you get to mid-game. And trust me, it's more than 30 hours....this isn't launch NMS 💀💀
I never said it was
@@oliversmuhar
Didn't mean to come off as a dick, if so, I apologize, I just don't think you have enough free time to really indulge in the mechanics and gameplay loops for am accurate assessment, like how you thought the crates only gave dirt.
@@neronah7349 All good. I get your point. I def don't have the free time to full enjoy NMS. But, if I did, I would make another video. Hopefully, one day
Bought recently and found it buggy as hell. Controllers constantly disconnect, markers disappear and the game crashes due to poor optimisation in VR. Sad as its got serious potential.
Fair enough. Someone else said it was good in VR, but that sucks that you're having optimisation issues. Game crashes are the worse! I hope it gets better for you.
Me too, I know its a part of VR to have to constantly fix things (been playing the dev build of far cry vr for the last month which had much less bugs in development) but this is a deal breaker. Hopefully Hello focuses on fixing bugs in the near future instead of producing updates. Its a great game that would rule VR if optimised.@@oliversmuhar
It didn't work in VR for me until I finally updated my 7 year old PC. Unfortunately VR requires new graphics cards to run well.
must be a PC player 💀💀
Did you just say 30 hours was a good time for this game? This is like scratching the surface of the tip of the ice burg.
Good point. It's a surprisingly massive game and a lot of fun!
