@@spec24while I don’t agree with that trolls opinion, but he is right that there is only ONE OTHER dev that has done what Hellogames did, and they did it before NMS came around.
Creative Business Unit 3 took the trash heap that was the original FFXIV and rebirthed it into the world best and top MMO, 11 years running and still going strong with another expansion coming this summer. Dawntrail!!
I highly recommend watching the No Clip documentary on FFXIV, it’s epic fall and monumental rise from the ashes. They literally burned down the 1.0 version to bring out the success it has now.

If you have a Psvr2 this game is a must buy. It looks super sharp in the headset and has tons of content.
PSVR even gen 1 is fire. I have loved every single title I've played on it.

No joke I dumped like 50 hours into NMS because I was so annoyed after 5 hours of trying to enjoy Starfield.
Tbf it was more hype than Starfield too at launch.

It’s crazy how far NMS has come. I remember when it launched, I spent only a few days on it, got bored and left it on the shelf. I picked it back up last year. It’s unrecognizable. It’s amazing how the devs stuck to their guns, turned the game around, fulfilled their promises and beyond.
You don’t see integrity like this anymore in the industry. Scams, unfulfilled promises, abandoning projects because things don’t pan out. Hello Games has expunged the black mark on their record in my book.
I may buy this game simply based on your recommendation and the way you framed your praise for the developer.

@@charlesshamseldin9555 high praise I suppose. I’m simply saying that Hello Games had the option to cut and run like so many other devs could have and do, but the fact that they stuck to their guns and delivered in the end makes them all the stronger in my opinion.
I bought it yesterday in the sale to play it on PSVR 2. Glad to see my money has been well spend.

They did lol. You forget that games have been consistently releasing in alpha states, complete with "road maps" and obligatory twitter apologies from the dev team. Cyberpunk, redfall, starfield, fallout 76, arkham knights, suicide squad, the avengers, anthem, halo.
Publishers took notes indeed.

Last bonfire came out last year. It's a lovely small game that feels a little like zelda and a little like journey. I bought it just to support Hello hames for all the content they put forth in nms, but was pleasantly surprised for a change of pace. There earlier Joe Danger games are awesome throwbacks to excite bike and trials games as well

It's also just really weird wording. Who calls a free trail as a feature "free to play". I get it, it's literally free to play for a while but the phrase is broadly understood as being completely free permanently. Did putting "Free trial" not sit right with the marketing team?

i'm gonna say that im so proud of the devs, the amount of passion they put in this game for years gave me respect for them and i've forgive them years ago, because they respected they promise at the end. i wish them a lot of success

It wasnt bug riddled. It was just lacking a lot of features. Bugs were fairly minimal

Before the upgrade, it might be running the PS4 Pro/Xbox One X versions.

Just this Expedition, it sounds like. Otherwise the wording makes no sense. Also, the game needs some sort of monetization since all updates are free and there's no MT's, so it must still come with a pricetag for the main game. EDIT: Seems it's the main game being free to play for a limited time only.

How is this still going? I feel like there is a new update every few months. And they have been at it for years... and it's all free?
A small team of like 10 people that developed and published the game themselves, sold a million copies at $60 by Day 1(so including preorders). It gave Sean and the studio immense financial security so they could do what they wanted for a long time. But of course that wasn't it, the game has managed to sell well enough since to where there's genuinely never been any need to even think about charging for updates. The money they've brought in to date will probably be enough to sustain their studio and employees salaries for the next 10+ years, even having expanded some.
They just make money off of sales of the game. Truly a crazy concept in today's gaming landscape!
The big payday at the start certainly helped though.
