- Sometimes your mind feels blurry, unfocused and you just can't think. In this video, I talk about how to deal when you're just feeling out of it, ie, mind fog. I also talk about it in the aspect of Sluggish Cognitive Tempo Tempo (SCT) [or Cognitive Deficit Disorder (CDD)].

I have adhd and I always zone out and have brain fog, I can relate
@Black Hole medication
I always think about the important task I'd have to do everyday. But, it's just hard to do, zero interest, I'd check news, then youtube, TV series, something that catches my interest then the next thing I know 3 to 4 hours had just past and I haven't accomplished anything.
same struggle , i'm so sick of this ..
Me 3
Watching Ron White memory expert channel.
Also, I find self talk to be super-effective
Example,
I know I need to do this
watches few videos later...
"Oh no" If I'm not gonna do this I'm going to feel depress later
Then,
I start doing the task..
Basically, My goal is to make myself feel better everyday...
Surround yourself with organized people that could act as your "accountability watcher" So, you would think like "oh, if I'm not gonna do this I will disappoint him/her"
Hope this helps
@@userone7057 It's not. You don't understand the disorder. This is exactly the kind of advice that is completely useless and actively harmful in perpetuating stereotypes of laziness or lacking being able to do basic self care.
@@wintesrain I have add/sct. Working class. Working as a part-timer. My mother refused to acknowledge my symptoms when I was young. My career trajectory is still shaky. I only took the battery test. Can't afford therapy and meds. You could've emphatize my plea at least or give supporting details to your opinion, it's annoying. I have to rely on willpower/discipline/conscientiousness all the time. It's still a struggle
I know especially the point that everything is boring. There is not really anything in the world interesting enough to catch my attention
I know that feeling and I absolutely hate it. Being so apathetic
I feel this so much
Please make this SCT popular everywhere. Now I know why I can't study well or work. Yeah mind fog has been there since 3 years old.
Thank god I found this video.. this are all the symptoms I had all at once I turned 12 years.. it took heavy toll. Interfering in studies, family communication, understanding work, colleagues, task to complete at work.
Your videos are so helpful. I just watched the Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria and this one too and I'm so relieved that I'm not alone! I honestly thought I was just broken for so long- thank you for showing me that I'm not!
I’m going to a family thing to check if I have ADHD but now ive been watching these videos and i think I have brain fog too. No matter how hard my brain try’s I just can’t explain it to anyone and it always feels like my brain just sits there and I also have a little bit of anxiety. I just feel like my brain always works at 40% capacity not 100. I’m 13 and I usually don’t feel like I’m actually using my brain at school but when I really try especially in math my brain actually physically hurts and I get so much stress during the school day and until I can leave I feel like I have a hot weight on my chest and it gets harder and harder to breathe during the school day. Sometimes I feel like i have 0 energy and I can’t do anything and sometimes when my adhd kicks in I’m super hyper and can’t stop moving. I also have these huge thoughts in my head that make sense but I’m forget them. Also I can never win arguments because I lose and go blank right in the middle of them. I feel like I’m high or hype all of the time. Nobody can actually understand unless they have it. Edit: I’m 15 now and I’m all good 👍
Bruh, this is a bit relatable
What did you do
.
1) go for a walk
2) change your monotonous routine
3) destressing
4) medication / counseling
I can relate to most of what you said, i feel like i’m on autopilot and like when i watch a video or a movie i feel like i’m not really able to focus on the video/movie i’m watching. I can go to work and do everything without much of a problem but i just don’t feel like i’m really there. I have something called Visual Snow which is a disorder that really fucks up my vision with tv-like static. I’m quite sick of living like this to be honest. I pretty much always feel tired and when i concentrate on something i almost get a headache like my brain struggles to keep up with what’s happening on screen when i watch a video or a movie
i walked to the kitchen 3 times to try to eat. kept doing something else. eventually i reheated some noodles. left it on the table and went upstairs forgettinh completley. came downstairs again, made myself a ham cheese sandwich with much effort, to sit at the table to find my cold noodles. every task is like this.
Have you done anything to overcome this?
hey you! yes, you. stop scrolling and watch the video first. papa bless
Thanks :)
this is my third time reqatching this because i keep going off in random flickers of thought, and the words im hearing from this vid i am hearing but i am not able to listen
my brain literally feels foggy like i can’t see the images that i used to see in my mind and i can’t retrieve information during exams like it’s like locked away and it uses SO MUCH energy to think so i’ve just given up doing anything because it uses so much effort
For my part it also depends on what and how much I eat, without having any official food intolerances. For example if I allow myself a solid breakfast, with lots of buns, meat and cheese, I certainly will be tired and brainfoged the rest of the day. It could be one little "mistake", which then ends up in a "timeless" chaos.
Sounds more like insulin resistance and high blood sugar if it's impacted so much by heavy meals and carbohydrates.
Solution?
@@528Chris talk to your doctor about possibly being diabetic
Your description was dead on thank you.
I’m in the SCT group on facebook
Take L thianine and iodine you will notice the improvement.
I'm painting, and my paintings seem super charged when they're finished, but sometimes I miss a detail or two, and embellish others. I think it makes the pictures more artistic and intriguing.
But the lethargy and apathy and missing key details when you're booking a flight or working with some application is de-motivating.. It feels like there should be a plus with this condition, because of compensatory mechanisms that develop to manage.. We shouldn't need to sleep more and feel miserable more easily when we get sleepy.
Shouldn't? According to what? Nature is not fair, and this is simply how we are.
@@GhostSamaritan Ok, last sentence was a bit silly, but as I said compensatory mechanisms.. I've been thinking about it and I reckon with time I get a good result but it just takes longer to get there. And my pattern recognition and ability to make connections has something to do with it.. I've learnt how to make fruit mead or metheglin during this COVID period without buying any domesticated yeast or nutrition, preservatives. I went from bottom in Art and English class to top after a couple of years.
Thank you so much
You have a really interesting accent, I can't place it. Thank you for the video, very helpful.
It's Irish with random Americanisms.
I've had it off and on, you know, every once in a while, not a problem. Recently it's been every day a lot of the time.
Thank you
For me I never have brain fog, I have a lack of it, it's just constant thoughts lol
How do u stop these racing thoughts? I hate it and over thinking i smoked weed till my brain is dead
Been trying to find methods other than just smoking. Or gaming.
Hahaha same 24 hrs a day my brain keep firing thoughts
@@stonervisiontv1388 my man me to self medicated with weed for 17 years but in the long term it's shit you waste a crazy amount of money it's bad for you body and your mental stability will be way worse
Thank You
Thank u!!!
I use Sage tablets and this indian plant, Brahmi.
Brahmi capsules: helps with the fatigue and sluggish side
Sage tablets: Helps to 'focus' my mind and relieve the foggy side more
Also Korean ginseng can help with energy at times
Thats not to say it always helps to the same degree, as nothing ever does. Very fluctuating with what does and doesnt help or make things worse. Find high strentgh ones and look at credibility of the product (lots of crap online).
Definitely worth a try.
And most importantly, I try to have a lie down and rest - to calm my mind and reduce stress.
You could perhaps read a book, if you're able or simply listen to some music. The important thing is giving yourself that much needed break.
Without this I find it hard to refresh myself
This is so hard to explain to people and try to get them to not personalize it.
This brain fog is the biggest reason I drink coffee. Without caffeine, I feel like I'm walking around all day in a dream state.
So am I self- medicating by drinking my morning cup of joe? (I do not take ADHD meds.)
Caffeine does nothing for me mentally, it just makes my heart beat faster and my muscles tense up.
Coffee makes me nervous and causes panic attacks for me
Ltheanine is brilliant for it because it focuses you and calms anxiety i got it at my local health store also iodine is really helpful for brain fog and dry hands .
Clearly this is a Thyroid issue.
Thanks!
Agree, if iodine is helping with dry skin and brian fog, see to your thyroid health. Be sure your doc checks a full thyroid panel, not only TSH. If nothing’s showing up there, check your “reverse T3” - most doctors don’t. You may have to find a functional medicine doctor.
I got both
Have Pervasive Atypical Developmental Disorder (ASD?) & possibly ADD (both of these diagnoses' I found on childhood hospital paperwork...but now I'm wondering if I have SCT too. Describes ME so well. (I'm 47)
I find it difficult to focus my gaze on things when I have that. I get this from playing too mich video games
I’ve felt these a few times and they suck!
I have no idea how to know If I have ADHD (inattentive type) or just SCT ? Please help If you can !
I’m like the biggest slob I’m always too tired. Lazy and hard to fight it. I know I need a stimulant.
I don't even remember the beginning of this video. Help me
Is anyone like me? I basically do literally everything but the task i know it is very important to do? Like I know that i must study for an exam and i know i will. but im keeping myself busy to the deadline! Its like i really cant do something about that😀
At 2:50 you said we tend to not feel things wrong with us until it's too late- is this a symptom of ADHD? What exactly is it called and where can I read more about it?
It's another part of 'Emotional Dysregulation' that comes with the executive dysfunction in ADHD.
Thanks for the response! I would love a video about this aspect of ADHD.
@@damnshitashley hey check Russel Barkley lecture on ADHD and sct for more info . His website is good too.
That is true. I didn't bother trying to change things until I felt uncomfortable and things were starting to get more difficult. Basically getting older and no longer being excused. This can be where most problems start to begin
SCT is it widely accepted in medical all around the world. Coz my psychiatrist and different psychologists are like primitive in Malaysia. Always diagnose inaccurate for all us..
My brain is big foggy rn
I thought it was Concentration Deficit Disorder (CDD)
It's known as both. Experts are trying to change from SCT to CDD cause SCT makes the person sound mentally "off".
ABCs of ADHD No, I meant that you said Cognitive Deficit rather than Concentration Deficit
Oh, bleh, you're right. Thanks for pointing it out :L
I didnt follow you from 01:00 since i cannot cencentrate.🤔😥😣
Same, lmaooooooooo
Bruh same
Can you guys remind me with replies that this exists every couple of weeks or so? Thanks :) My fog has been getting worse and I tend forget things I know. Lol
@Scott Thank you Scott!
Still exists.
@@GhostSamaritan Cheers!
