Ok, so after reading through the comments, I see a lot of you guys want more HOME IMPROVEMENT videos. I have decided to post future home improvement videos on ChrisFish since ChrisFix is mostly subscribed to for cars and I dont want to make anyone mad.
amen
I agree too but i prefer car fixes more
You should make a home improvement channel called homefix or Chrishouse or something
I guess I'll have to start watching Chris fish now.
I wouldn't even mind watching some home improvement stuff on the main channel, personally.
Maybe even have a third channel specifically for home improvement. Chris Furnish, maybe?
Or a third channel lol
I understand he's a car channel, but this guy can make some seriously killer tutorials for anything. Love it
Thanks!

I think people that are interested in fixing cars usually fix other things too. We know winter is coming and he can't film outside, so this kind of videos would be very interesting
I literally feel so confident that I'm on my way to Lowe's. Thank you, sir. I know this is way later than when you posted it. Your content still has value. My sink handle just broke 15 minutes ago. Other videos went too fast and spoke as if everyone spoke fluent plumber. I'm a nurse. The parts I speak are organs. I really appreciate you. Yes, your voice will guide me through this process. Ok, let me go to the store before it gets too dark. THANK YOUUUU!! 🙏🏾
OK. I'm back. My confidence was shaken when it came time to the little stick and hook part, but it's done. In the first attempt at water, we had a leak. 😬 But it was a simple fix that we thought we actually had right. The water hose was crooked. When I say we, as in my son and I. Honestly, this was such a good lesson in how we work together, how we communicate, and how we can have grace with one another. He's 21 yrs old and raised by my single self, and I appreciate us learning together. I can tell you now that we both know how to change out a sink. Hopefully it won't take as long next time. 😅 We had the tools but lacked knowledge. There were so many life lessons, all just from changing a sink. 🙏🏾 Anywho, thanks again. ❤
@@MsMona-qg9jxwhat a blessing!
Now THIS is what I was looking for! An ACTUAL tutorial, not just somebody showing off in a 2-minute video. This was actually HELPFUL, while not wasting my time. THANK YOU, Chris! ❤️
@catherinealexander6255
YES!! It's pretty stunning on some of these "tutorials" on YT how LONG many people can yak, yak, yak without saying a darn thing. Thank You, Chris Fix!
I'm NOT PAYING some plumber $450 bucks for this simple job.
I like that even if Chris is joking around, he still care to learn us something new and useful
Oh yeah I just realized today was April fools day. I just got done watching the video and not thinking twice
I thought this was gonna be one of his aprilfools videos lol

Thank you for teaching this nearly 40-year-old lady who isn't very handy how to do this. Took much longer than expected to get the old fixtures off, and took some major improvising to get the super stubborn old mounting nuts off, but I'm now the happy owner of a brand new faucet and drain pipe thanks to you!
Hey great. I'm a 71 years old lady and I should be more brave like you and give it a try.
Quick tip with changing sinks: the hardest part is usually having enough room under the sink in tight locations to fit a wrench so they make a dedicated tool called a Basin Wrench that is entirely vertical so it is easy to loosen and tighten hard to reach bolts.
Thank you so much. That is where my problem is.
I have that same problem. Grip pliers are too big.
Thank you. I could not figure out how to loosen that bolt in such a tight space.
Even as an April's fools joke, this guy can really break down a task in clear steps, he (ChrisFix) is a natural at this and can only wish he could teach this skill to most school teachers, so our educational system would jump to the top.

Best camera angles too. Those are clutch.

EXACTLY!
Chris is clear and concise. No time wasted with irrelevant verbiage. (Like many DIY's do.)
I have to agree with the comments that came before mine. This is one of the BEST videos on how to change a bathroom faucet. Excellent step by step directions. You just saved me from getting ripped off by a handyman who wanted to charge a licensed pulmbers prices. Again excellent video!!!!!! Thank you.
No matter what tutorial he makes, he always makes it simple and more informative, which I really love it
Not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting this year's April Fools video to literally just be a solid tutorial, where the only thing that's unusual is the subject matter being different from the usual car repairs. Genuinely, I wouldn't mind more of this!

I also thought this was a April fools prank
Same.
I mean Chris had some nice April Fools videos. The fart remover has to be my favorite 😂
As a plumber, I was super impressed. Everything was explained clearly, and install was almost perfect. However, the gasket for the drain is installed backwards. It's shaped so that the smaller side actually pulls up into the sink hole slightly. Overall a decent install, and no leaks speaks for itself.
No plumbers puddy around the drain inside the sink dono if its needed ? But I was always taught to do that ?
@@b_man3179 the new ones have a gasket, on those you're not supposed to since it can cause some kind of damage to the plastic.
@@b_man3179 you don’t need it because it has that rubber gasket built into it but the sink itself should have had silicone or plumbers puddy, but if there’s no leaks it shouldn’t matter
@@b_man3179 like others have said, if it's got a gasket, it's not needed. I've always thrown them away and used putty, but fora homeowner instruction video, the gasket works just fine.
@@loganreagan4464 lol I never trust the gaskets either i always use silicone now
Love to see you doing vids like this. As someone who works as a plumber, this is almost exactly how it would be done professionally. A few things for next time, the gasket on the pop-up drain has the beveled edge facing the sink so it seals, and it would be a good idea to hold the cut off valves while replacing the supply lines so you don't risk breaking a water line. This isn't right or wrong, but I like to take the drainage out first, then do everything else, and re-install the drain last. It gives you more room in the cabinet. All in all great video keep up the good work. I would 100% recommend to someone
Great pro tips. Due to tight space and possibly lay on our back, thus we need to use good process to make job easier. I also have my channel and for sure cars, maintenance, and money etc. are good tips to do.
Thx
Young man, thank you from an old man. You are very thoughtful about thoroughly explaining each and every step and how things go back together (in case I forget).
Well done - you will do well by yourself as well as everyone you educate along the way.

I literally just bought a new faucet last week and have been waiting to install it till I get home from a work trip. Thanks Chris, your timing is weirdly perfect as always!
Haha I'm glad the timing worked out! Let me know how this goes!

Agreed, the timing IS weirdly perfect. I'm not replacing everything like Chris did, but this was a big help for how-to on a sink.
I was kinda hoping for piston return springs part 2, but this was great.

Wow thank you very much! I called a plumber. 2 times he comes out and said what needs to be done but can't do it that day... so why come. It's a simple faucet change!!! I'm gonna do it myself and forget him! Thank you
This video is so so helpful. Thank you very much. I was able to replace the faucet with ease at zero plumber cost. Well done 😊
Awesome! I'm glad the video was helpful!
I love that even though this was meant as an April fool's joke he actually made an informative and high quality video. I'd be so down to see more home improvement videos like this in the future.
Chris, I love how easy you make things. we've owned a replacement faucet for 2 years now, and we've never installed it. (Our faucet leaked a ton and the gasket was broken) I'm 15, so I figured I couldn't do it correctly alone, but this video showed me just how easy it is! got it done today while my dad was out for errands, and when he came back he was super happy that it was one more thing off of his huge list of repairs to do. Thank you

Love your video man. I remember seeing this on April Fools Day and thought "ha that's pretty" but recently my sink clogged and I ended up rewatching this video to figure out how to fix it. Just had to clean the P trap out and it was right as rain again. Thanks Chris! Appreciate all you do!

THIS WAS GREAT!!!! I am just leaving a comment so this guy's page gets boosted and he keeps making tutorials like this!
Finally I have waited for this one for sooo long
I love this direction for the channel, the DIY thanos. Cars got me doing repairs and it transitioned to repairs beyond that. Excited to be able to expand that knowledge through you. Your videos are always a treat.
I was just thinking the same. There are plenty of DIY channels but Chris has something special that amps me up to step outside my comfort zone. He just makes it looks so easy. By the time you realize it's actually much harder than it looks, it's too late! But now you can do it :)
Thank you ! Best tutorial I’ve found for this. Thank you
Thanks!
Female here. I appreciate this lol i feel sure i can do it by myself now. Tired of calling a plumber snd esiting forever and the mess etc they leave behind. Do it myself it'll be done right
As a plumber myself I end up recommending that customers do jobs like this themselves but I've seen some crazy stuff happen when they aren't exactly informed. I'm more than happy recommending this video to anyone who needs some detailed and clear instructions on how this process works. My only criticism is that the drain gasket should have had the flat side facing the nut and the angled side facing the sink, just like the compression fitting on the ptrap
How about using Teflon tape on all water connections?
@@David-Cull also plumber's putty for the drain too?
@david You don't need teflon tape for the water lines due to them having gaskets already.
@@iamageek500 You don't really need plumbers putty on bathroom sink faucet due to them having some type of rubber gasket (it should come with one). The only place that you would really need to use plumbers putty on sinks are on kitchen sink baskets.
Thanks Asa

Somehow you are acing the topics right now for me. This week I have a faucet to replace and a quick release to add to the steering wheel in my track car. I've done these before but always appreciate your tips.
Broooooo you should keep doing this, as a maintenance tech, you could really do the apartment industry a lot of good with these tutorials! This video is awesome. All the do it yourself people will love this. I love Chris’s excitement in his videos.
Thank you for this video! I am not usually savvy with this type of stuff but I was able to swap out my bathroom sink! This video was so clear- still took awhile because some bolts were so hard to unscrew but wouldn’t have been able to do it without this
Nice video as always! One thing worth to notice: When opening up the valves for the hot and the cold water, turn them till they're completely opened and then close them a little again. If there is some biuldup happening in the valve over time it doesnt render it uncloseable cause you can then break that loose by opening the valve a little and afterwards it should be good to close.
Pro tip
Thanks for the tip!
This! I remember when I first replaced my faucet. I was freaking out because I slowly opened the water line and that was vibrating terribly. I ended up calling my uncle who is a plumber and ended up a good laugh.
OPEN WIDE, THEN ADJUST
I reinstall the p-trap and then run the old hose into the p-trap and fully open and close it a few time to flush it out ... If i cant use the p-trap im run it into a bucket and flush it out like that ...
You should definitely do more non-car oriented videos! You have a great format, and it can work for just about any type of repair or upgrade.
only Chris can make installing a drain exciting👍🏻✌🏻

Thank you! Got my double sinks changed!!! You're amazing!
Another common reason for slow drains? A clogged vent at the roof. Also, i do tend to prefer a basin wrench for water lines, a cheap tool to buy, but perhaps not worth it if you don't use it often. An adjustable works just fine, just with more colourful words in super tight spaces. Haha
Great video as always Chris. Its always great to see your video posts. Hope everyone is staying safe. Take care.
Very true about the roof vents - every winter around when temperatures dip below -30°C we tend to have ice form in our roof vents, so our drains are slower and when the washer drains, you hear it through the kitchen sink. At least those clogs fix themselves by March!

Glad the video was helpful!
I'm a service tech, I do these all the time. One other thing is, when your faucet gets a drip when you turn it off, they need new seats and seals....$10 for a pack of 10 seals and springs and you can repair your faucet for 100 years. Super simple as well. I'm a bigger guy, so I hate doing sink faucets because it's hard for my fat a$$ to get under there 😂 good video brother!
Thanks for the tip and thanks a lot!
That's a good idea to tell us about the washers and springs but be careful there are about a thousand different ones out there it's better to take a sample of what you got with you when you buy them. I like using WD-40 to help with installation. Also kitchen sinks that are one handle have an O-ring when it leaks at the stem- you use an allen wrench on the back to remove the handle to get to the O-ring.
I am also a service tech in the housing industry. If I see those old angle stops I replace those as well
