- In this video I reveal the Saddlemen Road Sofa LS that I will be utilizing on the Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special. The Saddlemen Road Sofa is a direct replacement for the stock seat for the Harley-Davidson touring models which includes the Road King, Road King Special, Electra Glide Standard, Street Glide, Street Glide Special, Road Glide, Road Glide Special, Road Glide Ultra, Road Glide Limited, Ultra Classic and Ultra Limited for model year 2008 to present. Brown looks cool until I start considering hard bags options. I've THOUGHT of making all my leather BLACK and getting a NICE seat but I better be 100% sure it's my forever bike.

Great comparison, I want to see the video after you have used the seat for 6 months.
I will certainly be doing a follow up after putting some miles on it. I love the San Diego Customs Pro Series by Saddlemen that I have on the RKS. It is also gelcore but a huge improvement over the stock seat. I think the Road Sofa will will perform well but I will know once I put some miles on it. I'll be honest. I did 2,300 miles in 9 days last July on my '21 Road King Special with the stock seat. I had absolutely zero complaints with it. Wife hates the passenger seat so that's the only reason I'm considering a different seat.
I was the same with my stock seat until on my Street Glide Special I hit 25,000 miles on it. Then the foam was broken down and on came the tailbone pain. That's the main reason I switched out the seat on my 2019 Road King Special to the Sandiego Customs by Saddlemen. After riding with it...no more tail bone issues. My belief is the GELcore in the seat is the magic. The Road Sofa for sure will keep your lady happy versus stock. Thanks for watching. One thing I’ll say for Saddlemen is their craftsmanship is amazing. Looks like you should be able to extend those rides. Anything is better than the crappy phone seat from HD! Great job man.

I think you did a great job pointing out the main differences between the seats you had on hand.
Would have been cool to put the Road King seat into that mix too.
At 6'2" the saddlemen moved me a little too much forward for my taste but my butt liked the seating experience.

I'm just a new subscriber in the last week or so. After watching this video and a couple others I've taken the plunge and just ordered the exact same seat. It'll likely be a month before I get to try it as I live in the Canadian Prairies and we're still in full blown winter yet.

Sitting higher: on the one hand that would put my GoPro a little higher looking over my windshield.
On the downside: I come from sportbikes. I'm used to sitting IN a bike not on it. I wouldn't want it much higher.
Rick yep long rides hurt my tailbone. I totally get the desire to find a seat that diminishes that.

Excellent review Rick! I have the hammock seat now as a second seat and while I love the comfort, don’t like how it looks on the bike. I’ve considered the saddleman however, have heard it’s a bit “stiff” would be interested to hear your thoughts on how long it takes to settle or if it does over time. 🤙
They are firm but do soften up and mold to your butt over time. The San Diego Customs by Saddlemen with the Gelcore. It is awesome after 1,000 miles. It really wasn't bad even before the 1,000. Like you I never liked the look of the hammock seat either. But I have the heated version and it was nice on cold days. Ride safe and thanks for the support. 👊👍🇺🇸

How do they compare to the UltimateSeats offerings?
I'm not sure I follow your question. If you are referring to the Ultra Limited seat, I also have one of those. My assessment of that seat as compared to the road sofa would be similar to what I said about the Harley Hammock seat.
