  • So with over 10K Miles I thought it was time for a final review of my Saddlemen Heated Road Sofa LS. I really don't have many Cons when it comes to the Saddlemen Road Sofa. I absolutely love the seat and given the opportunity I would definitely buy it again.

    came across this and agree 100%, only things that need mentioning for those considering this seat. You will be higher in the seat then say the oem RG or SG (not ultra's) seat (about 1/2" or more) , so your bars and your shield might be slightly out. As well there is very little side support on these seats so you will find yourself using a few muscles you might not be used to when staying on. I have had for a few months now and had to re-learn my sitting on the bike but i do enjoy this seat (with backrest) thanks.

    I’m sure there’s another comment posted in response to the wet butt issue, but I just wanted to mention that it’s due to the perforations in the lattice stitching. Explained to me by Saddleman while at their tent in Sturgis this year. Picked my seat up while I was there in Sturgis (Road sofa W/ carbon fiber) & rode back to Texas, no problems. Ass felt like a million bucks! 10/10. Great review sir. 🤙🏼

    Great review, 10K Miles, doesn’t get any better than that. Besides the water retention if it gets wet, the other “con” I would be concerned with is the back rest, way, way, to easy removal for the one time you park & come back out and your back rest is gone. They need to figure out a not so convenient way for removing it,,
    $1K is a lot for a seat & then additional cost for harness that should be included at that price. Thank you bro for taking your time on this, great video.

    Hey man very nice video !! I just picked up this seat at my dealer too demo. I have a few questions I would like your input on. How long did it take too break in the seat and how much of a difference was it after it was broken in? Also they didn’t have the heated version of the seat in stock and only had the non heated … I have heated grips but I barely use them as I wear gloves and I don’t usually ride in super cold weather . Do you think the heat is a must have or something you can pass on. And how has the leather held up too this point now I’m pretty good with taking care of my bike and I don’t abuse it or really ride in anything crazy. I just want too make sure the seat is worth the price . Thanks man and keep up the good work on these videos … 🤘🏽

    • @SinisterClutch
      @SinisterClutch  Před 2 lety +2

      The break in for me was around 1K. It’s firm but comfortable. Don’t expect plush like a pillow top mattress. But I do a lot of riding and it didn’t take long. I chose the heated seat with all the long distance riding I’ve done. I’ve been in Colorado in August and it be 50 but then get into the mountains and the temperature drops even more. I do ride in cold weather too. If you don’t ride in the cold weather or in situations where it could get cold on a long trip then I say pass on it. I’m like you I take care of my things and I treat the seat with leather protectant a few times a year. Hope this helps! Take care and enjoy the ride 🤙

      @SinisterClutch  Před 13 dny

      @@michaelroy925 Yeah I use it if I’m caught in the rain. Any seat with this kind of stitching will soak up water. I actually sprayed some waterproofing on the cover to help with water resistance. There is some little slipperiness with the leather treatment but it’s not bad and eventually goes away.

    Great review! I've been looking and once I have the money I'm going to get a new seat. Been looking at the Mustang and the Saddleman, seen where you commented having or riding on a mustang and you didn't care for it. Can you elaborate some for me? I love the stock seating position, so definitely want to keep that as close as possible. I've had aftermarket seats that were firm on our fjr and as you know very soft on our harley. I feel like I'm wanting something in-between the two spectrums. Just hoping to find a comparison between the two. Thanks for any info

      @SinisterClutch  Před 2 lety +2

      The Mustang was too wide for me so it pushed my legs out further versus the narrow Saddlemen Road Sofa. I have a better footing when I stop with the Saddlemen seat rather than the Mustang I tried. The Mustang seat was comfortable but I really didn't like that aspect of it. If you can do a demo that would be best because I was told I could keep the seat two weeks and still return it. I would confirm that with any place that will allow you to demo it. Of course it has to be in the same shape you left the store with it. It will feel stiff at first but you have to break it in. So keep that in mind. Hope this helps and if you have more questions let me know. Take care✌

    Hi! I don’t know if you will see this question - I am looking at this exact seat, it’s THE best looking one! Do you find the buttons for the heat to be easy to accidentally turn on (and therefore ugh- run down the battery)? 😮

    • @SinisterClutch
      @SinisterClutch  Před 11 měsíci +1

      No I have never accidentally turned the heat on. There is a plug n play wiring harness that I also did a video on. The harness allows you to cut off the power once the ignition is turned off. So if you do accidentally hit a switch then when the bike is off so is the power to the seat. I have well over 25K miles on the seat and still loving it. Trust me you won’t have an issue. Hi, I just bought my Saddlemen Road Sofa LS with back rest and it arrived yesterday. I have not used the seat yet but I have a question I wanted to ask you. So when I installed the seat on my bike without even installing the back seat I saw wrinkles near where the back rest goes in, in size how big the wrinkle is, is like the wrinkles covered 4 diamond cut. Did that happen to you when you bought yours? Also will it wrinkle more I use the seat special on the driver seat? Just wanted to ask you how does your looks as I am sure have put more than 10 K since this review.

    • @SinisterClutch
      @SinisterClutch  Před rokem

      It settles in some but not a lot. I’ve definitely gotten use to it. How narrow it is makes a difference. It doesn’t push my thighs out like a lot of touring seats. I’m definitely flat footed when I stop. I’m 5’10” so hope this helps. If you can demo one that would really help.

      @joshlowe670 Před rokem +1

      @SinisterClutch I'm 5'8", but I've only. got a 28"-29" inseam. So, finding a good touring seat has been challenging, to say the least. I guess I'm gonna have to see if my dealer offers demos of saddlemen seats or not. Honestly I would really just need to put it on the bike and have a seat. I would instantly know if it's gonna be too tall or not.

      It will sit you up higher about 2 inches but with the break in over time it will probably lower you around half inch. I recommend demoing one or if you can just sit on a bike with the seat.
