    If you have an RX 5700, then it's most likely that there is the same tier model above it in an RX 5700 XT form, and if so you will be able to force flash that into an "RX 5700 XT" (using atiflash which I will show you how to fully do in today's how to/ tutorial).
    This will grant you performance somewhere inbetween that of a regular 5700 and a 5700 XT (though more on the side of the 5700 XT). So in order to do this we need a few small apps and some command prompt commands :).

      @@nephilimslayer in wattman, or what is used to be, basicly in the performance tab, to undervolt properly you need something to stress the gpu while you lower the voltage, i use heaven benchmark in windowed mode to i can easly have acces to the amd software. So while the benchmark is running liwer the voltage of your card step by step ie: 0.05 steps, and at each stop let it run for like 1 min just to check, do it until you get artifacts or your pc crash. If it does so go back like 2 steps just to be sure, (you don't want your pc to crash in the middle of a game :p) also undervolting doesn't damages the gpu the crash and artifacts are just the results of the gpu not having enough voltage it can't broke that way. And lastly while your testing your undervolt, close everything in the background, so that you don't have a crash wheb your is maybe updating something

      Cpu : ryzen 5 3600 or 2600
      Mob : Msi b450 PRO-VDH max
      RAM : 2x8 GB corsair vengeance 3000mhz
      Psu : corsair VS650 650W

    5700 PULSE USERS! I suggest undervolting your card too with a max of 1000-1050 mV cause 1200mV is overkill. Worked for my Pulse flashed 5700XT. With this, and an aggressive fan curve (around 60-65% max speed) my max temp was 62-64 degrees under 100% gpu load with clocks reaching up to 1890mhz (way more than amd’s artificial locked frequency boost). I use MSi afterburner and also set the limit clock to 1905mhz. Any higher and it’ll be too hot and will throttle itself.
    If anyone else got better results on the 5700 Sapphire Pulse please let us know,
    As amazing as this card is, it’s sad that Amd stomps it’s potential for greatness

    I have the xact same RX 5700 model from MSI. I did everything what you said and it helped a bunch, ty. On the other side my temperatures raised much higher to 79/80°C (before the bios update it rarely even went above 66°C) and junction temperature was just shy of 100°C going around 98/99°C. Also fan curve is A LOT more aggressive. This is great if u want free performace but I dont think it is rly worth it. The GPU is great as it is especially for 1080p but if you are using 1440p monitor I think those frames that you get can then make some difference if you dont rly mind those higher temperatures.

    After the shitstorm that is the RX 6000 series card releases and not being able to grab a card, i'm seriously thinking about taking my saved up money and just buying a custom full water loop and flashing my 5700... crank up my components as much as possible. It's the reference blower style card as well so no more thermal throttling (even though it rarely happens, it still do happen from time to time).
    I got a feeling that it will take a while for GPU stock to get back up to speed so I think i'll be sticking with my 5700 for a while.

    Technically if you have a GPU with a VBIOS switch and the flashing fails for whatever reason, you don't need a second GPU to recover it. Simply turn off the computer, flip the switch to the 2nd VBIOS, boot into Windows, flip the switch to the "broken" VBIOS and simply proceed to flash it with the original VBIOS. Hopefully someone finds this useful.

    HEy brian great tutorial video as always man. tks.
    For me as much as i want to support AMD i had to put my rx 5700 pulse for sale cause i have had it with the driver issues , i mean i tried , the card is a great card , and it was running with less issues than some people out there with the adrenaline 20.1.2, as soon as 20.1.3 came out i installed it and my pc transformed into a buggy pile of s....! got back to my old GTX970 and became a happy man again, and as crazy as it may sound there are some games where i can actually have more performance. never had AMD card before and when i decided to change this all driver thing gets in the way and ruins my experience and downgrades my opinion on AMD software. so for now, "fanboyisms" apart no AMD for me.

    • @FrapsMo
      @FrapsMo Pƙed 4 lety

      @@AdamSmith-gs2dv That's wrong! The card's hot spot sensor will stop the card from getting hotter than 110 degrees . AMD has said that the 110C heat is completely normal for the 5700 series. However, a better cooler can give you a higher boost. I have tested my reference card for several hours with 98-99% load, with hot spot + 110C.

I am having a problem where mine crashes to a black screen then my PC resets as soon as the GPU hits 70c. I know this is the problem as I can duplicate the issue when doing tests on furmark. Is this a problem you have ever experienced, and is there anything you can suggest on fixing this issue? I am considering taking the back off and seeing if changing the thermal paste helps at all as I have heard that can. Anyway thanks for your time to anyone reading this and I appreciate any advice. Built the system in December and this just started happening last week.
