What if Alpha investments failed? What would he do with product?
File bankruptcy, then restructure into Beta Investments.
Hard for it to fail unless paper magic completely fails. Then I guess Rudy will have deal more with his other businesses.
aethertech Can’t wait for New Phyrexia Investments
Your presuming he HAS product.
Obviously you don't listen to Rudy, it's called diversification lol
Rudy when you broke into my house you left the lights on, that's really inconsiderate.
Ha, you had it easy.
He cleaned out my taco drawer, clogged the sink with arm hair, and made my neighbor's jealous by riding out in a carriage made from booster boxes of Fallen Empires.
And he left the light on.
He did the same to me, except that when he made my neighbors jealous by riding out in a carriage made from booster boxes of Fallen Empires, I liked it.
Rudy’s bottom line: If it’s not wrapped in a wizards factory seal, it’s toxic and should be avoided... welcome to my LGS of only sealed product! Please don’t even open the box in the shop...we don’t need that toxicity here.
Hold up.....are you saying I shouldn’t be investing in used binders??!?!?
Rudy shows Akroma, Angel of wrath binder. Me with the nostalgia wanting it badly enough to spend $20 bucks on to have one again. Rudy says it has no value. Me 😢😭
Rudy, Start including free used binders in large Patron orders! De-clutter your life man!
Just a binder reminder: you have to hire a binder minder or your gonna hafta hire a binder finder.
Reminds me of the CD binders everyone had in the 90's. You could get expensive leather ones, plain black ones, hardcase, whatever. If you left one on your car seat you might find your window smashed and your CDs stolen.
Many magic the gathering players ask the question, what’s the best binder for ABUR inventory?
Rudy says: This is what we had [holds up a 3 ring binder]
Me: Cries in my Djinn, and wastelands riddled with damage from rubberbands
press F for all the poor souls
The "Snakeskin Binder" is a Legion Dragonhide binder they're one of the best on the market, I put all my foils in them and then use the less durable Ultra Pro MTG themed binders for my non foil sets.
Toxic inventory and Ultimate Masters in the background ^-^
This was one of the best Rudy videos ever. I don't even play MTG but I love watching this guy.
Rudy should make an eBay listing for all his used binders. You spend a set price of like $10 and he just sends you a random binder he has. Bet it would sell lmao
Rudy is a genius. Makes a video about how binders are toxic to store inventory while simultaneously making a sales video for binders. Those emails won’t be for people trying to sell him their old binders, but requesting ones they saw in the video. Lol.
Ive kept my cards in the same binder since i was 5, 30 now. Its a Harley Davidson Leather binder, that zips up. Its held up well.
Imagine a whole three rooms just full of cheesy taco old Rudy binders!
Finally I get to kick back, and watch some alfalfa investments 😎
Great video, enjoy the inside baseball discussions!
I'm always happy to have a chat (or be chatted at) with Rudy. I'm completely unaffiliated with Magic itself (since it got banned in my middle school in '94), but have recently been reintroduced to the LGS's and playing with the current incarnation of Legend of the Five Rings. I wish I could put thoughts together into concise but comprehensive morsels so easily.
What got you banned?
@@Suavek69 Not me specifically, but since it was all kids playing at lunch, a lot of cards would go missing as people 'looked' at everyone elses collections, so they (the school) decided to just end all of it entirely.
Thirty seconds in and I had to pause...laughing hysterically at the 5 mins to 40 yrs analogy. Genius!
Everybody knows it's near impossible to start a LGS that does really well, especially with Wizards going digital and direct.
As a person with near zero interest in opening a game store, I appreciate your game store videos because it helps me judge which lgs in my area I should be emotionally vested in by seeing which do the things rudy suggest and which dont.
Binders are undoubtedly a luxury item, I've been enjoying my UG apparel but shit's expensive and I understand why the LGSs don't pack them in quantities, I guess this isn't any surprise, the stores that actually have years on the market have found out this by themselves.
lol im listing some binders tonight too funny. big collection of the original marvel comic cards
Binder? I don't even know her!
So my collection of BGS 9.5 Trapper Keepers won't see me through retirement??
😬
Same as the playmats, there is one big 9-pocket binder I had since my old yugioh times in 2003. Only the binder for the "I trade this cards 100% and later refill it".
Well, it worked very well and I didn't need any other binders. I traded often for my main decks.
Rudy, I guess 3/10 and 4/10 are the deck boxes and special sleeves right? Got it.
What I'm surprised in Japan, in Akaihabara there are 5 card stores on the same strip and have a full set of display of cards unlike in West. You could walk in and see all the cards in the set without battering an eye and most of them have about 3-4 stores, though Magic takes a step back as Vanguard, Yugioh and Wiezz schwartz take the main stage and are massively popular. They have a massively different mindset than in the West.
Next month
Timmy's used Binders is opened for business
Wow Rudys upgrading he has a bunch of empty binders to go along with his cardboard boxes lol.
yah i got some of those khans binders from you...i got a bunch from dave and adams too before i got them from you...i went back to buy some from dave and adams and they were out..i was like wtf...then shortly after that i see you make a video and you bought them all up...i was thinking about buying them up as well...they had them for like $2.50 each..a hell of a deal.
First floppy taco fan. Dammit I love my fancy binders but the value is admittedly not worth $20+. I worked at my LGS for 3 years, but I was back of the house in the "online Shipping" Dept. It was the early 2000's and it was great starting the online biz from the ground up. I was 1 of 2 people but in 3 years I was there ... I became the supervisor and there were 3 other workers. Today the online Shipping is dying hard because it's hard to get back good condition cards and to turn it for a profit. Only the big online houses are just making it.
Think he was talking the binder itself, not cards in it. And if I misunderstood you I'm sorry
Anyone remember when Monster first came out with side loading pocket binders and they were like $80???
Also... I mean, I did play during Onslaught block but, come on, Rudy.... That's Akroma... Not "an angel."
I use an O-ring binder myself cause I didn't want to spend all that much on a fancy one. Had one lying around and just bought some 9 slot pages for a few bucks.
Also Rudy you have a Phyrexia binder that was on your bookshelf I want.
Eventually I just got to the point where I don't even sort shit anymore. Everything gets tossed into longboxes with all sorts of random cards. I found a pocket of Future Sight foils randomly in what I thought was a box of 9th edition commons. It's so disorganized now just the prospect of sorting through them to even see what I have seems like too daunting a task. I know I have a bunch of 3rd Ed. Dual Lands SOMEWHERE, but with a gun to my head I couldn't find them for you.
I understand the message, but as far as the used binders I would put the nice ones in a bin in the store for like $5 each and maybe some of the dingier ones in a free bin in the store. From my experience customers love a free bin or a take one bin and will often come back just to peek in the bin and more than likely buy something else. If they were really bad maybe throw them away, but even then some people are thrilled just to get something like that they need for free.
I am down with the zipfolios from ultimate gear.
Coming soon...Alpha Investments binder giveaway!
Then a month after this video was released.. a few of my local LGSs closed down due to COVID shutdowns.
Holy crap that's alot of binders!!!!!!!!!!!
Rudy has ALWAYS replied to my messages on patreon
What tier are you?
I miss the days of store credit, my 2 LGS don't do them. The worst is near mint cards that are actually worth stuff and not your nonsense bulk junk. Some of these owners are so stingy that it hurts them, others go to pound town.
Devin Scott your store doesn’t do store credit? Can you resell your packs to the store?
Carrying cases for video game consoles are very similar. They are usually in terrible shape or very dirty.
Binders just incidentally appear in my life. What people who visit don't know, is that those Internal Revenue Code binders are empty or hold Magic cards. Why throw out good D ring binders? When you have 4 shelves of them, you find people to give them to. Usually a school. I have never had one turn a box of binders away.
Side note. If you're in a business and have inventory that can be multipurpose but for whatever reason you can't move, a local non-profit exists that will take it and write you a receipt. Free clinics need binders, too.
Hey Rudy is investing in reserved list cards just like desolater magic said and essentially like Tulip Mania in the modern day ( 90% investors trading to each other and 10% rich people with gardens)
Donate the binders to schools and write it off as a donation
jar spencer i has to scroll down way too far to see this suggestion
what would a school do with card binders?
If the binders are in good shape, donate them to a school and let them deal with them. Frees up space for you and you do good for the community.
'Im not going to sell you binders' ... Proceeds to have an infomercial for his different binders.
I'm surprised there isn't a Lion's Eye Diamond lying around there
I would just throw junk like this into prize pools for anything just to clear the space. That or honestly trash em.
rudy I'd buy some gently used binders from you
*near mint
S T I C K Y
Kreygasm
Its not worth it for ruby to get them graded then also pay shipping fees. Looked like there was some 9.5 gem mints there too.
If I'd live in florida I'd come over and buy some... at an appropriate distance
Rudy, As a little Timmy I dare you to review the random taco e bay mystery booster packs!
Wow...... I've never once thought my binders would hold any value. People are strange
''I Guarantee you'' Rudy here at Alpha Investments :p
Mtg original binder are FANTASTIC
Do you think that if you have a large surplus of binders, it'd be worth it to clean up the cheaper ones/can't be sold and just give them away at the store? Obviously probably not the ones with the metal defects though. I feel like it would be good way to keep people in the store longer or maybe bring a couple new people. It might be good PR too
Rumor has it that RUDY had his Store built out of MAGIC Cases.
A fallen empires binder would be amazing.
Scan those all those 3 Musketeers bars separately so you dont get electrical interference
Card shop bundles!
Thanks rudy. If id have listened to you before this i should have known. I bought a couple of binders (with cards). Just a couple of hundred dollars. You never now. But yeh i got rinsed. Thankfully my sealed position is more stable. If anyone reads this please let me know, 5th dawn sealed for £300. Deal or no deal? Its in east asia so i can collect while on vacation 🤣
That sticky stuff on the binders ain't no taco sauce Rudy.
I would maybe carry card sleeves but I can’t think if anything else I would use personally enough (if someone buys a single- I would put it in a sleeve), that I would want to carry. Like what is the turnover on binders or playmats, really? I would carry energy drinks. Those will sell
Binders are really dangerous....you can pinch not only your fingers but other parts of the body with those binder ringers
I love your channel Rudy ♥️
Love*
you could edit your comment
Anton Wittmann thx
Next Episode, when ? i did enjoy the series... T-T
Actually I remember Rudy DID do one giveaway before on this channel. I don't remember the exact product but you actually did give one thing away. Deckbox maybe?
What learned was Timmys Binder was "Sticky" .Eeeewwwww! Wash your hands Rudy.......
I really dig these
Have you thought about putting them into Patron bundles?
Rudy! I'll buy any gently used floppy tacos you have laying around.
I want to open a card shop called timmy's emporium
It's not like one bad set can kill the game ..... Hasbro says hold my beer here's magic 30th lol
Yeeep
Rent is tough for LGS.
Hi Rudy! I have a alpha lightning bolt, and i want to sell it for try to get a pair or maybe 3 challenger decks of 2020 in april, but i dont know where sell it or how much could it cost. Can someone help me pls?!? I want those decks for play with friends, cuz i ended playing at 2014 and i sold almost all my cards except that.
Put those binder and playmats up for sale I'll buy a few
These 50% shops (end of vid) are surly closed right now :/
IMO you should never buy the cheap floppy ones or sell them for that matter. Should stick to the style of the Dex protection or the stuff from Ultimate guard. Those will hold up for years and years.
I’d buy a Rudy angel binder
One day the magical 4th layer will exist and my single cards would have achieved omnipotence.
Ring binders are the best option.
Think hard ......as to why.
My store is just starting up so I'm a noob but things are going great doubled my investments in a month cross fingers that it keeps going good
try pausing at 0:13 and using the arrow keys to jump back and forth 5 seconds. 0:13 - 0.18 - 0:13 ands on..Is Rudy actually a computer generated animation?
"2017-18 was Nasty" said Rudy, in February 2020
Binders are a bit of a luxury. Sleeves though always needed, I'll be riding my few thousand lightly played all the way to my retirement yacht!
1:30 Rudy! I'm sending you my old cards for sale, and I also have three pairs of used underwear that look really good, on which I want 30 bucks a piece.
Binders bad....and yet I have a dozen empty that i no longer use......
How much for my used card sleeves?
Have to love the "subtle" UM boxes in the back..
Use the binders for a charity drive, put one card of varying value in each binder, then sign the binder..auction each one off on ebay with the money going to something philanthropic you care about and want to raise awareness to
Amazon has to be killing LGS’s on these though right? I love the guys at my favorite LGS, but I’m more apt to buy these types of things covered in this series on amazon, not only due to size of selection, but better prices even with shipping a lot of the time! Anyone else do the same?
Nope, always support the LGS unless they're extorting or unfairly pricing. None of them will ever be able to undercut Amazon. When you're buying these kind of things (like binders) from Amazon after shipping you might be saving like what, a few dollars? I'd gladly pay a few more dollars for something I know is coming from my LGS and will support them. You can't play Magic at an Amazon shipping center. I wish more people shared this sentiment.
@@Kuubudaraa I completly aprove that, I'm just getting into playing at my locals and if it's only for prereleases I would miss those type of events. Luckily I have friends to draft with or playing different formats ect. but I learned sooo much on my first prerelease it's a great place to get taught a few things about drafting/deckbuilding.
Kuubudaraa when it comes to decks, packs, and sleeves I typically do support my LGS but play mats and other such items amazon just appeals to me a bit more. I understand you can’t play at Amazon, which is why everyone in our groups try to support local stores when they’ve got what we need, but when they don’t we just find an online source.
I own a store ( Not lgs at all). I understand very well the concept of profit% however. Most brand new magic boosters/box will be in the 10-20% profits in best case scenario. Selling accessory's like sleeves and binders at 30-50% profits will help you have a better end of month average profit%. Most store owner I know cannot "live" with their main product only, margin on main popular products is so low these days.
100 Floppy sandwich baggies @.99$
1,000 rubberbands @.99$
100,000 failed LGSs owners @$100,000.00+++ in debt for life
(Primarily from binders stock)
"I'll spit in your soft taco to sweeten the deal. Oh, and here's a free binder. So yeah."
If someone had an Ultra Pro Darigaaz Binder, I would pay for one....mangled the rings on mine, need a replacement in good condition.
toxic taco bell party packs
I’ll give you a spire frog for all those
Spore frog 🐸
