The Faroe Islands: Timelapse and Photography

- Located midway between Iceland and Norway, the Faroe Islands are an arrowhead-shaped archipelago of eighteen dramatic basalt crags soaring straight out of the wild North Atlantic Ocean. Born of volcanic activity some 55 million years ago, these islands, still largely undiscovered by mainstream tourism, are a spectacular Nordic version of Hawaii. Settled by Vikings during the ninth century, the Faroes were probably discovered and first inhabited in the mid-sixth century by Irish monks. Saint Brendan the Navigator dubbed them ‘the islands of the sheep and the paradise of the birds’. The often mercurial weather creates an ever-changing backdrop to iconic mountains, fjords, sea stacks, waterfalls, and vertiginous coastal cliffs that harbour thousands of seabirds. In short, the Faroes are a photographer's paradise.

Those landscapes are breathtaking. Truly amazing place.
Thanks
Sharron & Martin, a stunningly beautiful film. Such clarity in the air giving vivid detail of the landscape. Beautiful time lapse images capturing sea, fresh water, cloud and light. Loved those buildings with living roofs. Just lovely :-)
Thanks so much, Gerry. Yes, we really loved the grass-roofed buildings complete with flowering buttercups too! We're planning a return visit to the Faroes next spring, as there's so much more to see and film.
You guys never fail to amaze us with your adventures and photographic skills, this is Awesome Creation :) Tim
Thanks, guys! The Faroes are pretty spectacular with lots of scope for great videography :)
Well said. Not a great place to live, wet, windy, low temps throughout the year, no seasons no trees/variate fauna and flora, no warming sun, not a proper daylight during winter (that late evening feeling for just 5 hours everyday from November to February). Simply put: just green rocks
A quality edit. On my to visit list.
Many thanks. It's a great place for photography and we're running a tour there next spring.
Beautiful - as ever! Heini
Many thanks, Heini. We're looking forward to a return trip there in the New Year.
