    Love it... The escort body is the way to go and great tips for reference.

      Absolutely my favorite rally body.

    I agree about the body, it's probably the best looking rally body you can get. I recently did the the Escort WRC custom which has the smaller wing. It does look really great but you cannot beat the original Cosworth with that big old whale tail wing!

      Absolutely, it’s the wing that does it for me!

    I converted mine to run ta05/TT02type-s suspension. it now can have much more suspension travel without massive driveshaft movement in and out of the drive cups

      Very interesting! Worth a shot!

    This kit needs more than the upgrades you depict. I've replaced the steering rack with an aluminium version (piece of crap), my rear uprights have broken and I am most likely going to replace them with aluminium version. I have the entire stabilizer set and yeah racing skid guards. I haven't had my drive shafts pop out, but if I did, I would sell this kit. The electronics I have in this kit are worth more than the kit alone, I have to say that I am disappointed in this kit. It's fun to drive but too easy to break.

      For a "Pro" level, it does seem to be lacking some stuff out of the box.

    Hi Rob! Ive noticed a lot of us were missing the limiting spacers that tamiya asks us to put into the front dampers when building, however you already mentioned limiting the down stroke.

    • @quietrc
      @quietrc  Před 9 měsíci

      I am fairly sure I put them in there, but I think even with what they have you put in there, it is not enough to keep the shafts in the outdrives.

      interesting, i have yet to run into this problem@@quietrc thanks for the reply

    the double cardan upgrade is nice, I hope tamiya release a complete kit for the xv02.
    shims on the axle will shorten the distance for the driveshaft, they fit between the bearing and cup in the upright, though you can't go too far as the hex pins won't fit.

    • @quietrc
      @quietrc  Před 9 měsíci

      Seems silly that they wouldn't. Its not like they need to re-engineer any new parts. It's all stuff Tamiya has.

    Ok so I have the vx-02 kit on hold but now I’m wound wrong if it a mistake. Sounds like it not that good out of the box.

      I would say it is the most capable tally kit out of the box that’s I’ve come across. Like every Tamiya kit (and others, too) you’ll want various hop ups based on your experience.

    Have you tried the 39 mm front shafts(from tc-01)? I have also i problem that they are off the couplings :(

    • @quietrc
      @quietrc  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I have not, but a TC-01 is on my list of chassis to build. So I could try them out then maybe.

      I got a pair of cvd's for a Tamiya GF01 Chassis from GPM Racing, they have 38mm shafts on them and they fixed the problem once you mount them into the XV-02 cvd's

      Tamiya 39mm swing shaft (part 53505) is a direct fit. Much better insertion into diff cup and still allows full movement with zero binding.
