    Hello everyone. It looks like some sad person is now trying to impersonate me and drive you to another fake youtube channel or worse, try and scam you for money. I have tried to remove as many fake comments and I've reported the fake channel. FYI Take a look at how my RCKicks name is shown in this post to the left. This is how my comment name should look. Anything else is FAKE.

    Glad you're deciding not to do the Michelin Pilot livery. This is where I get my pedantic head on, but the body you have is an Escort WRC, whilst the Michelin Pilot was an Escort Cosworth. Similar, obviously, but different body sets with different wings, bumpers, fenders etc.

    Having a XV-01 and built it i would say the only thing better is the steering servo linkage placement ,XV-01 to close the chassis with most servos. the quality of materials etc looks lacking to me. seems too much for a chassisonly kit. Glad to see Mr T as given us bearings.

    I was glad you said you liked transplanting Tamiya's amazing bodies to a more desirable chassis when the situation arises. I have recently bought a Karman Giha body set to mount on another M rear wheel drive chassis. Still looking for a Citroen "tin snail" and a Holiday Buggy ( LOL) body set.
    Gavin I promise I will build a whole Tamiya chassis as soon as I can get another F series' chassis.

    I'd love to see a lot more.Kots coming out in the $200-250US range, with more parts like this, updates to make things a bit more modern, high quality TRF shocks, quality drivetrain, some nice blue aluminum bits, etc... would love to see some V2 type updates to other kits, as well as some new stuff, like maybe a DT04 buggy, an updated stadium truck chassis for Blitzers and such, an updated Pumpkin/Lunchbox type vehicle... bearings, universals, fluid filled diffs, and all these goodies...
    I'd buy a TAMIYA 2wd buggy or 3, truck/Beetle or 3, 2wd/4wd fun monster truck, or 3.... if they cake with some.kits with this kind of quality....
    Even to some extent, just adding bearings, CVA dampers, and a few drivetrain upgrades, and charging a bit more, would be a good start for many of their kits...
    This car does give me hope.for.some.nice goodness coming from Tamiya soon though... ordering either 2, or possibly 3 kits this evening...!

    Uggg I wish Tamiya would stop drilling their bodies. My TT02SR came in a box like that and was packed the same way. It also had hex hardware and was made in Japan like the XV02Pro vs made in the Philippines like other Tamiya kits. Oh and the blue o-rings likely go in the drive cups for some cushion. Also, i’m surprised they didn’t use the higher glass content suspension arms like in the TRF kits. My TT02SR came with TRF high glass content arms.

      I am currently trying to decide between the two right now as well lol both are very tempting. Im not a fan of how cramped the xv02 chassis is and idk about the center mounted motor but it looks like it has plenty of travel compared to ptg.

      @checky2349 Před 2 lety

      Yes, I’ve got a PTG2, it’s pretty awesome. Front body posts aren’t long enough. That’s my only complaint. I’ll get a adjustable motor mount once they come back into stock.

  • @David-069
    @David-069 Před 2 lety +2

    Hi there Gavin this looks like a quality kit from tamiya. I take it that the different size ring gears is to adjust the gearing i don’t think you can mix them i might be wrong let me know it tou can and the 4 blue seals are silicone diff seals so you can add oil to the diffs and tune them that’s something new from Tamiya.✌🏻

    • @justins_toys
      @justins_toys Před 2 lety +2

      The different gearing is for optional overdrive which I think is overlooked on this car. If your front wheels are driving faster than the rear on a loose surface it will handle very differently. The rear will brake loose nice and easy and when you punch it it will pull the car out of a slide... Theoretically!

    • @David-069
      @David-069 Před 2 lety +1

      I understand how you are thinking but if the rear diff is turning at a different speed to the front it would for sure ware the ring gears and pinions. Arrma did a similar thing where they put smaller wheels on the front and bigger on the rear of a 4WD so when someone changed the wheels too four all of the same size it interfered with the setup and wouldn’t drive properly because the diffs were of different sizes to suit the big and small wheels.✌🏻

    • @justins_toys
      @justins_toys Před 2 lety

      @@David-069 yes the felony. The gearing in that is different front to rear to compensate for the larger rear wheels. The gearing is in the same pitch but not the same amount of teeth. You can’t mess with that as it’s an on road high grip car and you definitely don’t want overdrive in the rear. A lot of the latest and greatest crawlers have overdrive in the front for slightly different reasons but it’s definitely an option in the manual in the xv02. I’ll be setting up mine with overdrive. I think it will make all the difference and compensate for not having the motor over the front axle live the xv01 👍

    I really like the look of the kit, looks like some good stuff in there. But HOW MUCH?!?! I'd be tempted if it was around the £250 mark, but with Tamiya you do tend to pay a bit of a premium for their higher end kits. I can't wait to see it built and running mate👍👍

      @@RCKickschannel I have actually just built this kit aswell, build was fun but there were some plastics I was disappointed to see were not FRP, and it lost some points from me on that. Other than the drive cups into the front and rear housings needed to be held in with tape until you fit the center drive shafts, it was a headache free build and easy to assemble. The other notable issue was my diff leaked some 10k and 30k oil, the ring gear didn't have enough bite into the diff cup. The pro upgrades were some good upgrades to be included, unlike some kits like the TT-02R?? and Type S etc still come with plastic center shafts, this Pro kit came with some good selections imo
