Nice build. I recommend turning your box around to fire towards the trunk. You should get noticeably louder because the bass has that much more room to develop. Big bass takes big space.
So I have a van and I have a x12 v3 and I’m still messing around with different locations/ways to point the port with that big of an airspace, what would you recommend?
@@ajwilslev9314 best would be point the port to the rear and have the sub facing up. This will give the loudest application. Generally speaking having both the port and the sub pointing forward will create a loss in db but gain in sound quality. This is just my personal experience.

Not sure where that saying came from. All the passive radiator boxes I've made between last year and this year all demolished any accolades of ported and sealed boxes I've made in the last five years. Sure-they are not cheap but on average even my dual 12 boxes are only about 3 cubes total. My 15 boxes are only about 2.5 cubes-the lowest plays a 11hz and feels like my guts are gonna fall out. SMALL space-HUGE bass. The biggest box has two double radiators and with the PRs its about only 5.5 cubes net-it sounds like 2 15s and feels like it too. Small space, big bass. PR FTW💪💪💪💪💪
I have 4 x15s atm but back when i had one i had it on a scv3k 1ohm and it was perfect, could slam all day and it would maybe get warm on a hot summer day
@@rexnhogz yup double rms, i just got my sfb 13.5k and its replacing an orion hcca 11k and is my first full range mono amp i hope i like it and dont kill it lol.
@@colewoodruff6346 they are pretty good. Clip is very sensitive to high frequency and the crossovers have to be set with a voltmeter as a starting point. And they sound better if you also use your crossovers on the head unit because they get vocals in the speaker otherwise. But they are good.
I just do stuff myself. To be honest with you sundown Xseries needs around 3 thousand watts to start moving good. Yes you will need two batteries minimum or big alternater or lithium.
Anyone wanting the X will need to be able to reliably produce enough AMP's to keep the Amplifier happy. Most stock alternator only produce about 50-60 AMPS at idle ($15 buck clamps at wal mart if you want to check your car). The 1500SFB would be enough if you did big 3, added 1 extra battery, and upgraded to an alternator that does at least 150 AMP at idle. You may notice a difference from amp to amp even on a stock alternator, but those slight variations you notice are mainly build quality and efficiency of the amp. To truly bring any subs to life above 1000 watts you need the high output alternator... otherwise, just buy an SA-10 and accept that electrical systems have limitations that you aren't prepared to upgrade, cause that upgrade will cost as much or more than the amplifier itself
@@puctbridge yea an alternator is a huge difference but nobody that builds one can answer my question how it will effect the performance of the wrx and running a short belt has all kinds of negative effects on my truck running that 8k. I mite just buy a small lithium for the wrx and call it a day. if I wanna get loud ill just sit in the truck.

we use them with 3k because as you know the amp outputs the claimed watts on 14.4 usually and also the impedance while it plays goes up and down so keep in mind. soo when using 2k amp.. well you feed is just right with 1.5k probably. i run mine on 3k brazil type Ground Zero with 3400-14.4/3000-12v claimed output, runs perfect just i watch not to clip it and we all fine, no heat, no smell at all.
@@rexnhogz nah i run it pretty basic and i think i never needed one. my electicals are stock 90amp alt, 75ah battery + yinlong 45ah lithium bank (6 cells) 0 gauge cables and my voltage never drops under 13.4 on full load. about the clip i just keep an eye on my amp indicator when calibrating the head unit.
@@rexnhogz well lemme tell you how i did mine. Big 3 is done. Alternator goes to main battery. From there i have 200a fuse and that cable goest to the rear where my lithium is. From the lithium i have cable going to bass amp with another 200a fuse (amp reccomends up to 300 but imo 200 is fine) . I have another from the lithium that goes to amp for the fronts but that cable is not fused because the front line amp haves fuse on itself.
Its 2.7 and 30hz supposedly. X12 sounds awesome in this box.i just had a box built to spec for the x12 recently still unsure how I like it yet compared to this one. This box hits the lows better but falls off up top.
Yes i just dont because i wanted a little trunk space. It doesnt show well in the video but the box goes like 4 inches to the back of the trunk. Its huge lol.

I put the x12 in my extended cab truck and it sounds amazing because the area is smaller and I put a u12 in the subaru and it sounds much better. the u12 has way more usable frequencies than the x12 and alot more sound output. but it doesnt smash the lows like the x but it is more musical to me.

bigger the better because its a very large box so dont get a smaller cheaper sub. That box needs a wide roll surround sub and a ton of power. deaf bonce apocalypse or sundown zv5

I'm about to do this with a SALT 2k and a V3 x12. I was worried about not doing a 3k amp. However I think it will be perfect. I like loud but not insane lol.
The sound of the u12 is better in my opinion it's more punchy and louder than the x12. The ds18 exl xxb is better also. I didn't like the x12 much until I upgraded the cone to spl and spiders to red nomex.
I think sundown wrote in this subs description that your box be 50% larger then sundown recommended 2.0 CU for even lower lows. There so much more you can get out of the bad boy

HA..dude ,i rode around for 6yrs in a wrx hatchback with my back seats up,clean ,and first i had sa 12's then swapped to just the one x12 in the rear hatch firing off that glass,the rear view mirror hit the glass instantly i had to take it down,yours didnt even move,i thought the car was going to break,dc audio 2.0k two bats,upgraded alt.you need to do something,your giving that x12 a bad name.damn,i knew i should have made a video.cars gone,im rocking a nsv4 18 now in my ls cam swapped blazer ftw another great ride for bass,2005 2 dr.
I think its the acoustics in the 2015 because the x12 sounds way better and hits way harder in my ex cab truck. my 03 wrx hatch I had probably would have lost the mirror too these 2015's are quite a bit more solid of a car. we will see what happens when I get the truck finished I didn't wanna weigh down the wrx with batteries and a big Korean amp. But the x12 did hit harder and knocked the mirror down in when I had it in a cheaper high tuned box.

But you have to do the wrx voltage mod to bypass the ecu. 2000 watt amps are pretty easy to hold voltage but that's about the limit on a stock alt unless you go lithium. The new wrxs have a pretty strong alternator. But lithium is on the way for this car also.

Nice build but I gotta be honest man you're losing a TON of bass through the trunk. If it's not sealed off forward you're much better off reinforcing the trunk lid and facing it to the rear firing into the trunk as the trunk will load the woofer for you.

Yea U series will have a better overall response and be louder on same amp . I prefer my x series built with spl cone and black spiders but I overpower everything to hell hahah

Those little guys put out more than 2600 watts at 1 ohm with 14.4v. God bless Sundown and their under rated stuff.
it still runs my mids and highs in my truck till this day. but it has slight fan noise when the volume is down.

The x12 is nice but it needs a true 2000 watt half bridge not a full bridge.

The ds18 is kinda the best of both it digs lower than the u12 but stays punchy and loud.

Its in a custom aero now. But the sfb2000d wasnt really enough dynamic power. And the response of a x series is still kinda flat.
