I love how you discredited that pressurized basket by using it as a tamping stand :D
🤣 Haha, an indirect dis. I didn't plan that. Cheers! ☕️
Such a power move
Is there a benefit to that?
@@emailromoNot at all. You can use the edge of a table or anything if you don't have a holder. As long as you do it evenly, it's all good :)
Haha, I like how messy this is and not so super Uber clean as most coffee videos are. It just seems like the more realistic side of coffee making.
Ha ha, thanks. Espresso making is a messy endeavor. ☕️ 👍🏻
yeah no piano music
Goes to show you don't need a $1,500+ plus machine and a $1000 grinder to get true espresso. Well done.
the delonghi machine is still expensive tho, and with a good filter you can always improve the quality of the expresso
I think the other expensive coffee machine are expensive because they help you gain time and be more clean . You don't need it to grind it yourself each time you want a coffee, put it in the machine, get coffee powder spilled everywhere in the process and then huge force to get your coffee done.
You put your grains for a whole amount of time in the basket. You put your cup of coffee and you get your coffee right away with real grains and not with aluminium capsules (which are limited in flavors and a too monopolistic market). With these expensive machines, which should be a minimum solid for all these tasks and compact for customers, we can have a personalised coffee. Personally, I remember going to the coffee maker and choosing the type of grain, the the intensity of roasting the beans (low, medium, high) and the very thin powder cumulated with the freshness of the coffee made in front of you. When you get home, you can put jasmine petals or orange peels in the coffee to have the flavor you want. Nothing to do with these chemical flavored aluminium capsules you buy in the near supermarket.
Well with these expensive machines (automatic grain grinder aluminum/inox materials combined with compact size and last technologies like a screen tactile buttons and use of little amount of grain to get an expresso not the whole pack you just bought to get an expresso ) you get a non equivalent experience!
@@friendly421do you research?
@@friendly421the best semi auto machines still require an external grinder (because no integrated grinder can match their quality)
They are expensive because unlike cheaper models like the delonghi they come with :
Dual boilers
PID systems
Far superior steaming
Extraction manometers
Better build quality (not plastic garbage like breville and delonghi stuff)
Maybe I'm missing other features because my machine is an old La Pavoni. But that's pretty much why the price is so different.
I've never seen an espresso with that bright golden brown color with this machine made by other home baristas. This is amazing.
Tom, you are a big inspiration and an authentic source of valuable espresso info. Long may you brew!

Hi, what’s the grind setting you used on the timemore? I have the same one!

Totally agree with you, Harry! This machine is way better than a super automatic coffee maker. Plus, this is more fun.🙋♂️

What I most like in this Video is the fact that youre using an affordable setup getting an really good looking shot. Shows that it is not necessary to spend thousands.

Hey tom nice videos! I have a question, how much clicks has your grinder for espresso?
6-7 clicks.
What a suspension...
Hi, this is absolutely amazing! I would like to ask you. We've bought the same basket and have La Specialista. Majority of time it's starts extracting nicely as yours but after a few seconds there are random "sprays" of coffee and it's all over the place. The water pressure gauge stays in the optimal zone... Would please know why that happens? Are we not grinding fine enough?

I have ims basket and also kingrinder k6 but dont know why my extraction go bigger flow at the middle stage not as your flow so smooth 😭

That sounds exactly like my Delonghi Nespresso machine. Guess they use the same pump 🤔
Hi! Most espresso machines use a similar Ulka pump. Cheers!
Do you use the "verybarista IMS Precision Basket" with the "Normcore Portafilter" or is it if you don't have the "Normcore"? Thank you!!
Hi there, yes! I use the IMS H26 basket. Cheers!
Hi, when you time the shot, do you include pre extraction time in the 25 seconds too? 🤔
Yes, I start timing when the pump starts, as that is when the coffee puck is confronted by water.
Heya Tom, do you have a recommendation for those nice espresso glasses on German Amazon? Thanks!
You betcha! Espresso Glass Montana Enjoy: amzn.to/3mMfR9G
A Dream
ive tried 3 different fresh beans, with all 7 clicks on timemore is not fine enough. need 5 but would damage burrs. i end up tamping down with all my might
im under extracting even with 6 clicks. fresh beans. 10g in, 16g out, but it looks like the water is struggling to come through the puck for 15 seconds. im guessing due to the heavy tamping
help ):
Are you sure that your beans were freshly roasted though? Which beans are you using? The Timemore is a bit difficult to dial in, admittedly.
Did you have to change any settings on the machine when changing over from using the stock pressurised portafilter vs the bottomless one?
No, not on the machine, just the grinder. Cheers!
Also that machine has no settings

Timemore Chestnut Nano. :)
Great video that shows that you don’t need to spend more than a 1000 dollars on a decent espresso setup. I just got the Delonghi Dedica and I am quite happy with it. Would you recommend switching the portafilter and basket the machine comes with for the one you use? It looks cool but is there a big difference in taste?
Oh yes, huge difference in taste! If you use a proper basket then you get a much different, better extraction, because the puck itself creates the opposing force to the inrushing water, and the extraction is better therefore. But, you will need a proper grinder.
@@TomsCoffeeCorner 👋 Hello friends ,nice espresso ! I have the same machine can you tell me which accessories you bought. I want to buy them also….

Is possibile make an espresso like this using timemore c2?
Oh yes, I’m sure it could. The C2 should be a larger version of this grinder, I would imagine.
Which ratio are you using? Also how much time it takes to brew?
I'm new in making espresso, but can't find a recipee, I always end up with sour taste or either a really weak one, never tasted any sweetness as people says on videos :(
Hi Sam, I think my newest video could be of use to you...it's about dialing in espresso. czcams.com/video/TWBo4LJpijc/video.html
Look to get a 1:2 ratio in 25 seconds.
acidity can also be from the coffee being very finely ground
Mint! What portafilter is this?
Normcore, should be in the video description. :)
could I ask you how many clicks for grinding you use form the starting point please? maybe about 6?
6-7. Cheers!
I have a question. I just bought a bottomless portafilter. Is it possible I grind my coffee too fine for bottomless portafilter? Because it’s not coming out
Yes, coarsen the grind if nothing comes out.
Hello Tom! What’s the pressure on that one?
I didn’t measure on that particular dose, but it’s probably between eight and nine bar.
25 sec 👌
How long do you grind for 11g? Espresso fine coffee with a hand grinder? Be honest please
Well, 15 grams takes me 1:30 to 2 minutes. So 11 grams maybe 1 minute or 1:15. Cheers!
How do you skip the pre-infusion on the dedica?
You can't.
whats your brew ratio with time? like total/without preinfusion
Hmm, without pre-infusion probably 20 seconds for a 2:1 ratio. Cheers!
looks great!

That was 6-7 clicks.

is it true that light roast is hard to get that type of result? only dark roast gives you that good coffee
Lighter roast requires a bit higher dose in my experience, and a little more heat...
Muhteşem
Dear Tom. I can't get my Dedica to do that. Got the non press basket, time more pro 7 grind. I get mud water. Dedica set at hot water setting espresso. What is you hot water temp if you ran a shot without the basket into a cup? Are there more adjustments to the machine? Just 😔. I want that beautiful shot.
Hi Suzanne - I am thinking of making a video of how to do the perfect extraction. It has mostly to do with the beans, and using a decent grinder. Which timemore are you using, and which beans? What is the roast date on the beans?
Wow. Tom thanks for answering back. My beans are old but I can't get the get the right grind. I got the Time more Chestnut C3 Pro. Do a video on how to set it. You have to turn it clockwise then counterclockwise and the more clicks means more coarse. It's not logical. I'm wondering if my Dedica heating is not good. I just have a connical burr w the pressurized basket. Love your videos.
Is this coffee or honey? 😍
It's ground super finely. That will give you lots of creaminess. Technically this is too fine for a "standard" espresso. But it's all about the taste.
Can you use hand grinder for non pressurised portafilter basket
Sure, you just coarsen the grind. 👍
Hello again Tom! I have a delonghi stylosa EC260. With non-pressurized portafilter and rancilio steam wand as you recommend. I always buy pre-ground coffee at a coffee shop. and I would like to do it myself, what grinder do you recommend for the stylosa that really works, preferably manual (without breaking the bank). Since I think that having a grinder I can try it with different levels of grinding. Since currently the coffee that I buy already ground, my machine throws it away very quickly. I think this prevents me from making really good coffee, because I buy 250-500g of coffee from the wrong grind and it doesn't get the best use out of it.
Which country are you in? And what is your budget?
@@TomsCoffeeCorner thanks for the time!! I'm in Mexico, my budget is between 50-100 dlls
