    If you put the key in the driver side door and turn it backwards to unlock but HOLD the key in the unlock position - it will roll down both front windows and the sunroof. If you hold it in the forward position it will lock all the doors and close the front windows and sun roof.

    My 98 es300 went to 400k, had to change the transmission once. Eventually junked it but I just bought a used one with 250k miles for $2800. Its 2000 model platinum edition in a pearl white color. Owner recently had rebuilt the transmission and fixed the leaky power steering issue they commonly have. Hoping I can drive to 500k. One of the best cars ever made by Toyota! Legendary and built to last!

    At 22:55 you mention the acceleration is linear - I have had a 1998 ES300 for 12 years and a 2000 ES300 for 4 years (16 years cumulative with the ES300) and if you get on an empty highway and go about 25-30mph and then put the pedal down enough that the car accelerates but DOES NOT SHIFT gears ... you'll see it accelerates linearly till about 3000 rpm and then at 3000 you'll feel a boost that will put you back in your seat a bit - there's a definite boost at the 3000 rpm point. If you pay attention to your acceleration (acceleration done somewhat gently but firmly) you will definitely start to see that there IS a boost at 3000 and above. It is there ... you will start to notice it after you drive it enough.

    My grandmother has a 2001 Lexus ES300 which has two tone paint grey the bottom but the rest of the car is black. A few chips in the paint here and there but looks nice enough people constantly offer her money to buy the car. I'm 5-11 and I find I can't really get the best seating position when I drive it. Also I think the climate controls I said a little bit too low in the dash for a push button layout like that. Other than those complaints the very quiet nice riding car.

    I really miss that car. Rides so good. Still have a gs300 2002 has electronic throttle, so annoying and not as responsive and smooth as the mechanical wire. **Owned 2010 ES, 2014 ES, 2019 Camry, 2007, 2012 Highlander, 2005 ls430, 2002 gs300, Avalon 2004, 2009 Avalon... This ES car is my favorite, mine was 99, but preferred the 2004 Avalon that had door frame around the mirror, but otherwise same car and ES handles better and rides so smooth at 95mph, better than all the aforementioned cars except maybe LS, but it's so sluggish feeling. Plus all their new cars have terrible uncomfortable seats. After about 2007 depending on model.

    Thanks for sharing this. I actually own one - same year, model, but different color of course. Anyway, the previous owner’s lack of care, w the exception of on-time oil change, caused me an additional &1200 (parts/labor) for a new catalytic converter. It ran smooth prior to getting part but even better now. There’s some cosmetic issues & some other minor fixing to be made but overall, per my mechanic which I agree, this car can last another 5-10 years if taken care of properly. I don’t drive it much anyway, only 20-50 miles a week. So ya definitely this car is a keeper.
    I do have question maybe y’all can help me. My reverse light seemed to be not working. Replaced bulbs etc, but cant figure out what else to do to fix it - any advise y’all?

    • @motoring9056
      @motoring9056  Před 3 lety

      Check to see if you replaced it with the correct bulb, it needs to have the same part number/correct voltage. If it’s a correct bulb, then check your wiring by using a multimeter.

      That is a good price for a used Lexus. We have a 2001 ES 300 with 89,000 miles, we bought ours as a Pre-Certified in 2004 with 24, 000 miles and have not had a problem with it, the only things we've had to replace are the tires, oil, and filters, the usual maintenance. I would, however, disagree with his comment about the speed of the ES 300. It has more than enough power in accelerating and passing, I was pleasantly surprised the first time we took it out on the highway for a test drive which pretty much sold me on this car. Good choice on your part you will be well pleased.

    • @ronrinna7756
      @ronrinna7756 Před 5 lety +3

      P.S. No rust anywhere, the body still retains its showroom luster, the engine compartment has a seal on the inside of the hood keeping it (engine) spot clean and we have the original shocks, struts, and exhaust system. We however never left our car outside, always parked in the garage when not in use.

      There’s a lot to check. Especially if the car is neglected. You might want to have someone mechanically inclined to come with you, during inspection before buying.

      Yes, still have it. It currently has 124k
      No major problems, I had the 02 sensor replaced early this year and last year one of my oil control valve failed, replaced it and no issues ever since.
      I really keep up with my maintenance, 5k oil change intervals and actually I had the timing belt and waterpump replaced last November aswell.
