    I bought a 2000 Lexus es300 2 years ago for $1136. Literally everything I had in my pocket with 151000 miles. Insurance totaled it Dec 17 2021. Put full coverage on these people. I got back $4,298.66 after my $500 deductible and insurance sold my car back to me for $687. Im rebuilding the front passenger side rn. Its been a great car and its still and gonna be a better car. Currently has 177146 on it. I had no idea a 21 year old car with the mileage was valued at over $5000 in my Area. Wheeling WV. My insurance is American National. FULL COVERAGE PEOPLE. Great car with great value. Hope this helps.

    Also, the ES300 badge was in the wrong spot. On the 97-99 they are on the metal part of the trunk and on the 2000/2001 they go towards the bottom of the right tail light. In 99 you had the Coach edition, then in 2000 you had the Platinum Series and then in 2001 you had the Coach edition again. I had a 99 Coach and my current 2000 platinum series. Plus 3 more. You have a lot more mechanical knowledge than most people to help fix the minor electronics, electrical and mechanical issues to have yourself a nice running Lexus for quite some time probably at a great price. Hard to say how many miles you have on the replaced engine though. Would be good to inspect the timing belt. I have the 1999, ES 300 that with regular periodic maintenance has been running great at 180,000 miles. Mine developed the clearcoat fading and bubbling that I restored watching CZcams just using rattle cans, sand paper and buffer.

    I miss this car, loved the design, esp the back headlights, mine had Lexus chrome rims, it had like 165k miles when I had to retire it, sold it to the mechanic and I think it was clunked since it was apparently unrepairable, mechanic couldn't fix it, and he brought another mechanic buddy/shop owner to look at it, they couldn't fix it either. It definitely had problems with the O2 sensor, got different O2 sensors, code still persisted, wouldn't go away, they was also saying the catalytic converter was likely busted as well... maybe it would've survived if I took the worn 2000 to a Lexus dealership, but I think the labor, parts and repair would've been pretty expensive, so I didn't bother
    Sadly, it wouldn't pass smog in California cuz of the CEL, and probably IMO the most strict smog check state in the US, or else I still would've been driving it to this day, but it was definitely old, well-used, showing its age and from my memory, the last car report I looked at years ago, I was like the 6th, 7th, maybe 8th owner or something... what was I thinking... bought it because I thought it would've been reliable, also got it because of the chrome rims... but mine turned into a money pit tbh, the original struts were blown, so the previous owner replaced them with like the cheapest available $50-100 struts, it feel like an earthquake inside while driving on a bumpy road, esp if there were cracks, whole car was shaking side to side, but I just got used to it lmao

    • @jimmyjimjims7483
      @jimmyjimjims7483  Před 7 měsíci +1

      The maintenance is no worse than a normal Camry honestly and I sold this car to some guy who gave it to his wife and she still drives it to this day. As a general rule for me I don't take road trips in my own cars, I rent one that way if it breaks down I don't have to pay some outrageous tow bill I just call the rental place and get a new car. Realistically you shouldn't take a vehicle with over 140k miles on a road trip longer than a few hours away because the likelihood of it having a failure is much higher than a low mileage car

    • @SnoopDoggyDoge
      @SnoopDoggyDoge Před 2 lety

      if you’re trying to get the cigarette lighter in the front, you have to pull out the trim around the shifter to access the screws for the pop out cigarette lighter. once you do that, 2 philip’s hood in the trim. you can pull out the front cigarette lighter and check the connections if it’s not a fuse box issue

      @@emansfveranot this model of lexus. The LS is the winner bit expensive & sucks on gas.
      [same engine era as camrys]
      The 3rd gen es300 was better than the 250 but their 1mz-fe engines were mid-low quality. It overheats & sludges up too quickly and needs oil change every 3-4k miles. It leaks oil too and repairing it is impossible like the 2gr-fe toyota engine, you would have to replace the entire engine with another one from junk.
      The 00-01 years have bad transmissions and they don't age too well. I had one before. The radiator & hose kept blowing up every few years. This car right now is just too old to be reliable today. It will last less than 1 year if you picked up a used one (you will notice problems within the 1st month). The es300 ends at 2003, es330 had the better engine, but all of lexus engines up until the 2020s i think has t-belts & interference engines, so watch out! I would avoid any cars older than mid 2000s.

    I recently purchased a 2001 Honda Accord lx. I bought it from a family member and they put another motor in the car (used) basically. When I start the car it’s fine. If I drive the car it only gets up to 45mph and it doesn’t have anymore power. It runs raggedy from the cold start but once I start it. But after the engine warms up it runs smooth. The code is air fuel ratio sensor. The guy that put the engine in says it’s the ecm computer could you help me out which I looked online a bad computer has your rpm not goint up mines does. And the car cuts off if I hit the accelerator while it’s in park I can start it right back up and it’s fine.

      Take it to the Lexus dealership. Or the Toyota dealership if you want to save the money. I know taking it to the stealership mechanic can be expensive and seem super shady but those mechanics are trained to work on those vehicles and those vehicles mainly. Especially older mechanics who have been with Toyota for 25+ years who were trained on these when they came out. It’s a last resort if you really can’t figure it out.
