For those interested in who I am you can find below a short presentation.
My name is Daniel, I am an electronic engineer who started some time to work with wood. Wood was a passion of mine since my childhood when I grew up with my uncle who was a woodworker.
When I was about 35 I bought a CNC machine and made several things with it.
Working with wood I needed some cutting tools so I had to buy hand planes and chisels. They needed to be sharpened so I have discovered whetstones and I have another passion now: sharpening. I like sharpening and I discover how relaxing is to sharpen a kitchen knife. I am not a specialist, I am a self though from what I read and from other people's movies.
On my channel, you can find movies with what I do in my workshop: sharpening, some woodworking, repairing things, and whatever I have to do and I consider to be interesting for you.
I am sure that you don’t like all my movies. There is no problem, it is normal. :) If you would like to tell me your opinions please be civilized. :) But I hope that you like them at least 99.99%. :)
Thank you for watching and as I already told you in the movie please support me with a like, comment, share, subscribe, etc. Any of them are important to me.

Finally someone who has an objective approach and not paid to lie. I see you really like to sharpen with stones. I wait the review and hope to be surprised. I saw a youtube vid with a guy(Deak Csaba) removing stone (15000 grid) material with his fingernail, I cannot believe that. Curious to hear you about the real grit as we can see a difference with shapton glass stones. 1000 grit proyan has 9.1 microns , shapton 14.7 microns. 🤔 probably due to the measurement tools Chinese/japan 😋. Thanks Daniel to share precious feedback. 👍👍👍.

I sow that video too but he was trying to sharpen with a 15 k grit??? Not finishig just sharpening. And regarding the fingernail, if I try it on a Cerax will do the same thing.

Yepp, I was not trying to sharpen on it, never ever said that.
The title says: "..hardness test review", so it was about the hardness of the stone, because in an another video someone asked if these stones are hard like Shapton or not. That is why I uploaded that video, to show how hard is the 15k one.
About the softness of the stone, I think it was clear, that I'm so disappointed. Shapton 16k, Morihei 12k, Suehiro 10k+, Ken-syou 10k, Naniwa Super Stone 10k-12k, good luck even scratching those with your fingernail, not to mention digging material out of the stone..it just won't happen.
About paid lies..well, I don't understand why @androiddemars1635 mentioned my video with "paid lie" within one sentence, I can assure everybody that I'm not getting paid by anyone after that video.
Lastly, please let me to dislike something which I don't like. I have my preferences when it comes to sharpening, I know what I'm looking for in a stone, and Taidea Proyan 15k was not that which I'm looking for.
Ps: today after I saw this video, I picked up the stone again, to see If anything changed since I bought it and tried it out. I spritzed some water on the surface and started to polish one of my practice Yanagi, and after a minute or so, lots of cracks appeared at the edge of the "stone" going deep, reaching the glass itself.
For me, this clearly means, that this "stone" is nothing but polishing paste glued to a piece of glass, because sitting in one place for more than one month and loosing water, probably it dried up soo much..and when it got some water and pressure, it cracked to pieces. Simple physics I think..
You can like it, actually I hope you do will like it, but I won't buy it again, none of the Proyan series..

I never had a chance to test them so I can't have an opinion on them.
You scratching them with your fingernail doesn't tell me anything. That is the reason I never commented on your video at all.
I am still wondering why you bought a 15k stone. I have tested in the past some no-name and also Taidea stones and they do a decent job. But I didn't went higher than 8k. 15k is overkill on a knife.
But might be that proyan are very bad. Just wait for the video and you will see my opinion too. :)

I bought it, because I was curious. I had a couple of other higher grit stones, and I wanted to compare it.
/I buy stones, knives and lots of other things out of curiosity, to feel what they are like, and nowdays whetstones and knives are my hobby/
I have also tried out "cheap" Taidea combination stones, and yes, for the price, they do a decent job, just as you said. This was mainly the reason for what a "cheap" stone can do that costs a third of the price of another.
Again, I hope you will like it, and you will find the happyness using those stones, because that would be the point, wouldn't it? ;)
Waiting to see your sharpening review!

@@deakcsaba7737 So sorry, I did not want to hurt you, I said that Daniel will not promote a stone if he does not think it it's a decent stone. That's why I like his reviews. May be it will be nice to see you reviewing the stone :), I am sure it could be very interesting.

On Aliexpress they say to soak this stones for 5min.

    • @DanielWorkshop
      @DanielWorkshop  Před rokem +3

Probably something is lost in translation. Manufacturer is saying on the instruction paper that there is no need for soaking. One I start using them I will see if they are soaking or not.
