You got me very interested in Dogs of Summer! I read and enjoyed What Wakes the Dead last year, and found it to be a fascinating take on modernizing a classic! I'm at 4 books in January so far as well, and like the 4 book approach.
Dogs of Summer is excellent if you like gritty stream of consciousness & dark coming of age. Which classic is WWtD retelling? And thanks! I find big monthly wrap ups stressful and long so perhaps this is better
Fall of the House of Usher, by Edgar Allan Poe, which I would have sworn I had read when I was younger, but didn't actually remember. I think that adds an interesting take on how gender was explored, one of my favorite elements in Kingfisher's version. Also, persistently I'm trying to wake the dead with the title swap, lol. Great video, thank you 💖
OMG I've been wanting to read What Moves the Dead so badly!! Definitely gonna try to get to it this month.
Just keep in mind the beginning is a bit slow but then it picks up 🍄
Me over here having only just read one 🙈😂
