It honestly feels like RB never thought Yuki could outperform Ricciardo at all and now they don't know what to do with him.
đ€·ââïž
Red Bullâs handling of drivers continues to be a mess. 2 teams and yet no desirable replacements for Perez
Surely he gets RedBull if he and Perez continue to perform like so far
@@musculusiv4172
Despite that itâs not a given that heâd outperform Perez. That second RB seat is a pressure cooker, Perez is one of the most experienced drivers and he crumbles under the stress
Weâve seen Yuki against a competent teammate (Gasly) and it didnât go well for him. Scale that up to Max and suddenly the picture looks a LOT harder
@@Duval-In-The-Wall If Perez continues to perform like Miami/Imola I dont see why they would keep him while Yuki is banging in points.
It's still Checko's seat to lose but he needs to recover his form
Another strong weekend from Yuki! Whilst Yuki may never get the RB seat, surely his performance so far is going to allow him to keep his VCARB seat for another year. I don't think there are any better viable options for him so if he can stick around for just one more year, and then push for the Aston seat in 2026, that would probably be the best route for him.
If he has no future at Red Bull, the only value in keeping him, is to stop him racing for somebody else. đ
@@TommoOnCZcams Well they still want VCARB to be competitive and if they plan to bring in Liam then Iâd imagine they would like to keep Yuki if they can.
@@tak8261since Yuki and Liam are good friends it should be a good line up! After next year we defo should see Yuki making a push to join Aston
@@tak8261 I think Ric might be able to give more experience but Liam and Yuki would probably push each other more
Riccardo is clearly not someone who understands on a technical level and is more of an intuitive driver.
He won't provide much veteran experience so there really is no point in keeping him around.
People are to critical after 2021 season not having all the chaos. It was a fight for the win. 6/10 is a fair rating due to 0.7 gap between P1 and P2. Thatâs what people have been asking for and we got it. I enjoyed it
If that didnât happen would it have been boring yes easily 3/10. But with the last 10 laps being like that it made it enjoyable and makes us all think red Bull may not have it in the bag
Yeah no it's 2 out of 10 and that's because of the last 10 laps
I think it's rather two years of boredom with Max running away with it makes you think this was a good race because Lando got within a second of Max. I think it was a 4/10 race
yeah iâm not sure why people feel SO good about themselves after saying a race was boring. like f1 is quite literally meant to be enjoyed, telling everyone who will listen that you didnât enjoy a race doesnât make you cool it makes you look like a miserable bum. i donât get where the clout for that is coming from, but the hate culture has to stop
It wasn't really a fight for first though since at no point did Lando at least get wheel to wheel with Max. A fight implies something much closer than what we got. This was a "try" for first, nothing more. Just being realistic here. Saudi 2022 was a fight for first. This race was well below that.
I don't wanna seem like a Logan sycophant but his race wasn't terrible beyond qualifying. Him and Gasly had the same problem with not being able to catch up because of blue flags, dropping down a few seconds each. He had the older heavy floor. I didn't see his quali lap but wind sensitivity could maybe explain track limits. Not an optimal strategy/pit timing. Realistically with albon 14 or 15 would be a perfect execution with that car and the best Logan could hope for starting at 19th was ahead of one or two saubers if not dead last
It seems people aren't as big a fan of a close suspenseful race as I am. I thought this race was great! Each lap poses so much risk and reward and all the drivers were pushing to the limit. It's a beautiful venue and circuit and I enjoyed every lap. 7.5/10 for me especially because there was a real race for the win.
Excellent track in a beautiful location, completely unsuited to these huge cars. Mostly boring race throughout the field for the entire grid, saved by the ending fight for the win. Max/Lando ending elevates it from a 3 to a 5đ€·ââïž
When you say a battle for the win, itâs 2 drivers getting slightly closer together with no actual wheel to wheel battling, like what is a 3 out of 10 in your books then cause if that race isnât I dunno what is
Dont think the race was very good but it wasnt worse than tracks where the cars just fly past each other on the straights
The race was better for me in hindsight knowing that was everything Max had, if heâd won by even 5 seconds youâre never sure how much management has been done. We can be pretty sure though that the gap was minimal this weekend.
Like seeing Lando on the absolute edge in those last laps alone, oof
RB needs to quit effin around and start putting some respect on my boy Yukiâs name.
Christian seems to be the pessimistic party
Nice that you got to visit the AMRTC. They also had a giveaway for that but I didn't get chosen. But it's okay since I got invited to a tour and to watch Abu Dhabi FP2 last year, which was a bit of a fail because pretty much the entire session was under red flags. Things don't go well when they invite people to watch sessions.
I am happy that McL is challenging now. Maybe they are having the best car already.
Max has to perform at his absolute best and maybe even outperforms the car, which is enjoyable to watch.
And I am still thinking Oscar is underrated. To perform that good in his 2nd season alongside such a strong teammate is insane. And he is mentally strong as well and keeps the team chemistry intact.
Of course his race pace isnt at the level of Max and Lando yet, but normally you are having more fundamental problems to overcome so early in your carrier.
I cant wait for your takes in your video about him.
Keep it up Tommo!
Always a joy to watch your content :)
From what Iâve seen on SM, it seems like most ppl have faith that heâll get there, but heâs definitely not getting the credit he deserves for where he is right now
From Quali I defo go the feeling the Mclaren was quicker but Max just pulled out some magic, I'm no Max fan but if he's gonna win its good to see other drivers pushing him to the limits, not him coasting around with a few tenths in quali and 30 seconds in the race. Also, Piastri is so impressive for a rookie, people were saying on his first few races that he operates like an experienced driver and that still holds up now. Defo seems like he just needs to refine his race pace, and he's pretty much a ready made top driver, it's incredible.
@@chiefbeef9905
I completely agree on your point on Max.
I am not a big fan either, but I have massive respect for his achievements.
And even he seems to have more fun if he is challenged :D
Kmag did a great job, nearly at the points good overtakes and him taking the medium tires what 34/5 laps was just crazy, deg was high but we gave them tires some loving.
Had a low-key banger
Race Rating 6/10. To high in my opinion. It Was a 2/10 and thanks to Norris maybe a 4/10, but it was sooo boring
Did u not enjoy tsunoda and hulkenberg battling nearly everyone in the field?
Damn if that was at most a 4 out of 10 then most seasons in F1 have been a 1/10
It was hamstrung by the track unfortunately, it just doesn't work for racing specifically in F1.
@@TommoOnCZcams Racing got better as you went down the series - F3 races were absolute bangers
2/10 is too high imo, Imola was barely 1/10.. Extremely boring, barely any overtakes..

clanger driver was a hard decision. on one hand, we expect more from perez. but his weekend wasnt as bad as alonsos. i mean he pits for softs for the tactical removal of fastest lap from mercedes, and doesnt even get it. he binned it in fp3, a rare mistake, and didnt make it out of q1. seems like alonsos lows were so much lower than perez, and yet so much more is expected from perez that theyre on equal footing for clanger driver of the weekend
Alonso got lapped by Lance Stroll. Clanger drive was him by a mile
@@Duval-In-The-Wall didnt alonso pit like 3 times tho? at a track with immense pit loss times? like im not disagreeing with you, but the context in which we analyse these performances is important, which is the point of what im saying. perez: we expect more in relation to his teammate. alonso: we expect more in relation to his teammate. perez is always under pressure to perform compared to max though. alonso can have an off weekend like this, and its worrying of course, he made several unforced errors that snowballed into a bad weekend, seemingly not helped by the fact aston martins upgrades did nothing. perez was moreso just slow, and in his own race entirely until his pitstop, at which point no one was fighting him bc its a red bull on new tyres. but he would have gotten a better result if he had actually qualified well. but thats in comparison to max, who seemingly drove through the issues he was having with the car. the nuance matters, which is why i think its hard to decide who was the clangingest clanger from this weekend
@@iisquared77
He pit twice, and even if you remove the extra stop heâs still about a minute behind. Absolutely shocking performance
The difference here is that Perez is up against Max (the best driver on the grid) while Alonso is up against Stroll (the worst driver on the grid)
Imo losing to Stroll that badly is embarrassing for a supposed âtop driverâ
@@Duval-In-The-Wall okay clearly we have very different ideas about the entire f1 world as a whole. glad you made your opinion known đ

Interesting the way you took that Eddie Jordan clip. The way I took it was he believes the only reason Tsunoda is in F1 is because of Honda and without them he wouldnât have a seat. It felt more like a dig at his ability to me
KMag is having an honestly underrated year and has been the most entertaining driver on the grid some races. I hope Haas keep him on
Honestly, I think VCARB want someone who will help with the development of the car. Ig I had heard the team say (a race or two ago) that yuki is benefitting from Danielâs technical feedback. Sure Lawson might be better than DR but can he help the team grow in the same way DR is doing . I doubt that
the team and even yuki himself were crediting de vries with his technical feedback too. not suprsing since hes development /test driver...not sure if thats a good base for staying. it wasnt good enough for de vries
If we are looking for a feedback driver we can skip over Riccardo for someone better.
AT/VCARB have been on a steady rise of performance since they picked up Daniel, even if his own results donât reflect that

47:37 I'm pretty sure I've seen a few of these people in the McLaren garage over the last couple of years. They're wearing the same clothes as all the others, except with a Mercedes three-pointed star up at the front shoulder, which is never shown on any other McLaren stuff.
video idea...redo the points out to the top 12 and go back a year or two or whatnot and see how it would effect the standings of both drivers and constructers
I think people put Lewis for clanger driver just for shits and gigglesđ his teammate couldnât keep is hards in great shape for the end of the race so he had to pit. Lewis manages to keep his Tyres in great shape and was catching George and Toto said he wouldâve passed him George also so they brought George in⊠the Lewis hate or mentions is just because heâs Lewis Hamilton lol 30:15 . Thereâs no reason he should be clanger driver when he finished ahead of his teammate who started the race ahead. Being worried about Lewis is just a popular take to have Tommo. Youâve been jumping on that hate bandwagon and the 7x champ⊠give him a fast car and watch what he does.
Especially when you consider a certain driver had a weekend worse than any Lewis weekend the past few years
DOMS FTW đȘđŒ
I feel like I never give a lower rating than Tommo. Twas a 3-4 for me. I fell asleep in the middle đ
I feel the race rating depends on how you saw the race, I always thought Lando was managing but kinda lost hope when Charles was catching him
Before the race started Alonso was interviewed and said that this was going to be a test session for him so calling that a clanger drive is a bit unfair
That doesnât change anything, the reason he was in that position was because of his clanger qualifying
Yeah just trying to get info for the new updates. Must be such a bad feeling just driving for 70 laps with no purpose apart from stuff you don't really see.
Itâs 100% a clanger drive and clanger weekend
Crashed in FP3, fucked his lap in Q1, started last, and was LAPPED by his teammate.
Imagine that, your teammate drive his way through the field to 9th and lapped you. Horrible performance
Stop making excuses this is what you deluded fan base do EVERY TIME
The other drivers can say theyâre running test sessions too as an excuse
This is why fraudlonso fangirls are the worse fanbase with the most overrated fraud of all time
Bang average race for me, 5/10. One exciting moment near the end, maybe a little battle here and there, but pretty snooze-worthy otherwise.
It was boring until Norris stepped on the gas at the end
Part of the history of Imola is how often the circuit has been modified. Tamburello, Villeneuve, Tossa, Aqua Minerale, Variante Alta, Rivazza, and the front straight have all been modified over the years. Imolaâs ability to change and adapt as the sport grows is the main reason Imola can still be on the calendar.
So, letâs change it again. Tamburello needs to be made a heavier braking zone. Villeneuve could probably be deleted. Tossa tightened up. Do we still need Variante Alta? And Rivazza could be made a heavier braking zone as well. You could basically keep Paraltada and Aqua Minerale the same, change all the others to promote overtaking, and the circuit would still have the same basic character.
Overall I give the race a 5/10. Not too bad, nothing great, just bang on average.
As a Canadian, Iâd never heard this Harry guy before. He did an ok job, but I was disappointed they didnât get Rachel Brookes to fill in for Crofty.
NoâŠ. Lando needed more than 3 laps extra to have a chance.
Perez was 29 seconds behind Hamilton after he pitted, maybe without the off in turn 17 he wouldâve been under 20 seconds he mightâve had a chance but he shouldnât be in the position in the first place
I didnât think the race was bad at all. So a 6/10 is fair. Lando with 1 more lap, nah. 5 more laps? Iâd feel more comfortable saying heâd got him in 5 laps. Maybe. Probably.
Why are people saying George was moaning though? He just said he didnât want to give up the spot for nothing. They literally asked him. They made it about the tires dropping off which is annoying bc it was their fault - they pitted him too early the first time. They told him to stay out after he asked about giving up the position then when they told him to box anyway, he did. Without arguing.
To add, maybe if they worded it the way you mentioned vs how they actually did, he would have just agreed without questioning. But I guess weâll never know.
Your Bluetooth issue sounds like a driver issue. Your laptop has drivers that make things like Bluetooth work. Lenovo should offer a way to update and I would check that first.
5:37 Stallie Bearman
The lower fomulas should keep racing at Imola cuz they're actually good there, but Imola should be the first track to go if any of the european calendar has to go. Just consistent 4/10 races, people are overreacting because Norris got close to Max, it had potential to be a classic but you've gotta rate whats in front of you, not what could've been.
On the George issue. Heâs still trying to prove himself and win the head to head battle with Lewis. On a weekend where he beat Lewis on merit it now goes down in the record books as a weekend where Lewis beat George. Which isnât what happened.
If Lewis was in that Mclaren, Max would have been done. What do you think?
Unlike Crofty, Harry identified all the drivers correctly.
He had a banger
Could matter to George contract and bonuses. We just donât know
My low tech solution to the keyboard problem. Get a cheapo keyboard with a cable as backup so you're not stranded on stream without any way to type.
This was round 7 @tommo not round 8
Verstappen likely wouldâve got pole and the win if he and Norris had swapped cars, not that heâs that much better but just that he is better and itâs getting that close
If Lando would have won 11/10 đđđđ
I dont like top 12 getting points. I think 50% of the grid getting points is fair, points should be somewhat hard to get
Why should points be hard to get. We just want the sport to be more interesting and competitive. Half the cars are driving round for nothing. It also mean undeserving drivers can have crazy race and beat there team mate in the standings like with Robert in 2019
@@BL4K_B4BIES It's not interesting if the back markers fight over if they get 1, 2 or 3 points (if the whole grid got points).
It's much more hype if it's an actual achievment to get points for the slower teams, just like it's a big achievment for the better teams to get a win/podium
This season hasn't been fun for Albon fans. The car is either too slow to compete, or like in Imola, something out of his control ruins his race. At least I know he will be on the grid for a couple more years.
I would put Alonso clanger driver not checo
I think 2 or 3 laps lando could have won. with one lap I think he could draw alongside, but not pass.
what is clanger and banger, I'm Dutch and can't find these word with DeepL or google translate.
Clanger usually means a mistake or blunder but in this case is just something bad and banger just means something really good
Clanger is bad and Banger is good I believe.
Yeah it legit just means who had a good race (banger) and who had a bad race (clanger). My guess is that itâs just some UK slang

its horrific how everyone slanders perez after one bad race and the other he has always been p2 or p3
"Always" no
This comment section is just max haters. It truly shows that they don't care about close racing. It's pure "lewis should have won in 21 so now I hate every race"
Pathetic.
What close racing? There was none of it in Imola.. 20 cars train lapping a circuit over and over and over...
unpopular opinion...
Ferrari and McLaren are better than RB right now :D
Max is making a world's difference in that case. Pole and win in the 3rd fastest car
Who voted for $troll for the banger driver lol? Are you insane??
He battered Alonso this weekend
We saw in those last 10 laps how much better a driver Max is than Lando. Max was the one with tires that were gone. Max had to avoid a track limits penalty. Max was under pressure from behind.
And yet, it was Norris who made several little mistakes nearly going into a spin and then going on the grass while Max was masterful.
You guys are just forgetting the fact that it was almost impossible to overtake and follow on this track. Yes max did a great job but any other track like Silverstone the move was done. Lets not forget lando has less experience than max in career as well as fighting at the top. Lando might not be better but he's right up there and the only one who has put pressure on max this year.
â@@sleepypixie8828If the track doesn't permit basic racing features like following and passing then why do they race here đ, I truly don't get it.
If 5 is your average race then this race is a 2 out of 10. If 6 is your average then this is a 3, maybe 4 if you want to be generous. This was not an average race. Whatever metric 6 is far too high.
I really don't get F1 fans. The hypocrisy in this fanbase is insane. This race was extremely boring up until the last laps. It's probably not biased opinions cause you love Imola Tommo, but last year you gave Singapore a 3 or 4 rating cause you said the whole race was boring except the end, just like this race. And the end of Singapore was waaaayy better than this. Just pointing it out
Ex F1 fan here, I quit watching with the beginning of 2022, races are awfully boring, watching a snail is more fun! Ricciardo is there due to his commercial value over his actual racing, it's pretty evident now. But Horner wants allies and Ricciardo would be loyal to Horner while also being a good foil to Max's personality by alleviating the feeling in that garage. Essentially Ricciardo is a good therapy dog for the current state of RBR internally. But make no mistakes, Ricciardo does NOT merit it and is only hanging around for commercial reasons.
Kinda sucks for Lawson, the B team has a driver they donât want and a driver they do want but isnât good enough
â@@Duval-In-The-Wall Lawson will get the seat next season. But it's now a real question whether RBR even wants to develop drivers with the rash decisions they make. Wasting 2 years of a drivers life for Ricciardo is an incredibly bad decision for me. The Yuki treatment reeks of something internal, he must be a problem child, but it's a bad look when he's constantly beating the "golden boy" (35 yr old driver).
@@FreddyMacT
The Ricciardo situation is just sad at this point. Red Bull were looking for some excuse, ANY excuse to promote him to the main team, thatâs what they wanted
They basically said weâll give you a simple task, beat this driver, who we donât rate, always give 1-year contracts, and got smashed by Gasly. Red Bull viewed Tsunoda as a beatable benchmark, they always have
And Ricciardo hasnât even come close, in fact heâs been smashed. I think they will run out of patience, and we will see Lawson
Understanding this from Red Bullâs perspective, losing to Tsunoda is viewed as unacceptable, sackable, even
â@@Duval-In-The-Wall Unlike De Vries who had no appeal for them both in results and financially, Ricciardo is a harder option to dump midseason specifically with the Visa card deal.
But yeah, the whole Yuki situation is embarrassing, Horner clearly wanted Ricciardo back. The only spin for him is that Max loves Ricciardo, so this will now become a question of whether appeasing Max is more important than getting the best driver in the market.
To some degree, Ricciardo hangs around F1 beyond this season, but he's now a glorified pay driver. His obvious twerking for America will pay off, but he is a shadow of his younger years and it seems like any young driver more in tune with the current F1 rules would beat him.
@@FreddyMacT
Appeasing Max could prove important because idk where Red Bull would be without him, heâs the only part of that operation that is correct
Only took Alonso 23 years to become washed. But I fear because of his age, he'll fall off a cliff unlike Lewis who has slowly been declining.
Dude
He had one bad weekend
Cut him some slackđ Letâs see if he can bounce back or if it wonât get better again, then we can talk about his age catching up to him
@@cyancut21This is what F1 fans do
â@@cyancut21I think with Fernando it's different because he's been so incredibly consistent his entire career and never has weekends like this. I think his age has finally caught up with him and he's fallen off a cliff.
The only hope that it's not the case is that there were some reasons for Fernando's mistake in qualifying: he didn't do any fast runs in practice, and the crash in the F2 race knocked off the brake marker boards which weren't replaced, which could make sense why Fernando was carrying so much speed into the corner, he broke too late. He also mentioned in an interview after that they shouldn't have started qualifying with the brake marker boards gone because it's a different track then.

I donât even care to do my own race rating, all I know is that this was the worst race of the year
IMPOSSIBLE that this race was a 5. At most a 4 because of the ending.
Also F1 should be forbidden to sponsor young drivers. Yes I know Young drivers need the money and the support but imagine Bortoletto wins back to back championships. McLaren will not give him a seat and doesn't want to lose him except for a huge amount of money. So either Bortoletto has a good exit clause or his F1 future might not happen.
That's the gamble the young drivers make. It's the reason why Red Bull got Max instead of Mercedes.
Magnuson should be disqualified from banger drive for complaining about other drivers blocking... Mr Roadblock himself, on the verge of having too many penalties and having to sit out a race was complaining about what he does more than anyone.
