I'm honestly confident it's just a troll cause if you look at the other categories besides the Starfield and Red Dead 2 ones the rest make sense. I remember looking at the voting opportunities and chuckling that they are able to be nominated. I didn't vote for it but I see how ppl do for the memes. Lethal Company was really the only thing I voted for in its category.
That was from fan votes. Sony didn't have anything to do with that. Many publications even gave RE4 Remake Playstation GOTY. Spiderman 2 won cos it just popular. I don't even think it was that great personally but the general public thinks so
I just saw starfield with the the most innovative gameplay , started laughing my ass off and searched on youtube if someone made a video about this. It's so obviously bought in xDDD
Starfield and RDR2 were most definitely everyone jokingly voting for an award they knew would never deserve. Thing is, too many people did it as a joke and that's what caused them to end up there, at least from my point of view
Naming these "awards" is quite a stretch. Like the Oscar or Emmy "awards". When I was a youth, they taught me that awards are special things not everybody is entitled to. Something that you must earn through extraordinary, unusual, uncommon, and unique levels of effort and/or ingenuity. Things that represent widespread acknowledgment of sacrifice and achievement. That's what awards used to be. Now they simply amount to unearned prestige certificates granted or sold to permit better leveraging of falsehood in product marketing. They represent widespread acknowledgment of extraordinary abilities to deceive for the sake of nurturing the flow of money at the expense of costly or risky undertakings such as achievement, effort, ingenuity, and sacrifice. They are coronation ceremonies the nobles rely upon to re-crown themselves periodically whenever they perceive any lowering of their prestige. Their purpose is not to showcase new talent. it is to bury and eliminate that talent because of the formidable competition it threatens to bring. Every crappy AAA game boasts about winning 10 to 20 of them on the cover art. They are even won from tribunals consisting entirely of people who never played any of the games because they admittedly dislike playing video games at all and become annoyed when their audiences suggest that playing them is relevant to formulating judgements and comparisons between them. I will suggest you start awarding them the attention they are earning and deserve. Because you are not criticizing awards at all. And they certainly will not change because you are. It is more prudent, imho, to ignore them in the hopes they will eventually vanish forever. Word of mouth is the best award anyways. Nothing works better and you don't need a ceremony to do that.
They killed the online in 2022, labor of love my ass! "In July 2022, Rockstar announced Red Dead Online would not be receiving any more major updates, instead focusing on smaller missions and the expansion of existing modes as development resources were withdrawn to focus on Grand Theft Auto VI."
When I would watch your starfield streams I would low-key be kind of bored. That's when I knew it must be even more mundane playing it. Don't know how that game was $70
Or at least been nominated. It’s won a few times iirc, but it definitely deserves to be in the spotlight for how much that studio has put into that game.
i also voted for deep rock galactic seems like the best option out of those. Strafield the fallout in space won innovative gameplay is comedy gold especially since there are jokes abotu fallout just being skyrim with guns bethesda games are cookie cutter open world rpgs that just getting more simplified with each release and kinda running like different theme so it isnt obvious or something.. i voted for shadows of doubt in that category cuz i like detectives like columbo or sherlock holmes and we dont really have much games that would like fully get into the genre i guess the closes would be la noire.
Me and my friends stopped playing Red Dead 2 a couple of years ago because it stopped getting new content. Crazy to see that it somehow got the Labor of Love award. This is why I stopped caring about game awards a while back. Play what you like even if no one else likes it, and support indie game devs when they make a good game. Also crazy to see a procedurally generated loading simulator be the Most Innovative game apparently.
Make sense. Have you seen the games they voted to be picked? I know there's a few who deserved to be picked and the games that was picked was the ones that everyone knows like fortnite, overwatch, etc. I'm pretty sure the words for RD2 would of been the same if the other games would of been picked. It's a joke. Hell the game awards even started on the same day with E3 cause of rivalry. Which I didn't know at the time. I went to their live footage and text "E3 let's go" and I got muted for it. And I'm sorry as much I like Hideo Kojima, his games starting to feel like it's not any good. The online based invading for MGS5 is BS cause of hackers and konami nor steam/playstation doesn't want to do anything about it. Death Stranding story needs to be reworked with some parts of it. There I said it. Sad many indie games gets brushed aside cause usually they aren't popular and plus half the indies games has a agenda to it. Plus other rewards like IGN are rigged. At the end of the day who cares? Enjoy something that you like. Who cares what anyone thinks.
What front lane of innovation Starfield, Whaaaaat how can it be so like whaaaat, that is blatant mis information of games in some of these nominations. Starfield is less innovative than candy crush and general mobile ads, and it won. The Authenticy of steam, has fallen. what a complete disingenuous statement, blatantly lying in the fore front of people faces, and if people would buy it because of the award as in its use as a selling point, that's trait up fraud in many ways Like Starfield is less innovative than Mortal combat on the Gameboy and general fighting games, how delusional people are. This is why gamming sucks, because the developer who actually do effort and actually deserve the rewards are putted below then the most generic absolute trash game of the likes like Starfield. this is so sad, and I think I will just much more doubtful to buy anything steam offer from now on, because clearly just because it in the podium doesn't mean it deserves to be there, and that's clear with some off these games.
So, Internet Historian has a video on this platform titled "Any poll's a goal". In that video he talks about a few cases where companies tried to gain the favor of that fickle mistress called viral marketing, and it backfired hilariously. Other examples not featured in the video are, including but not limited to, the famous "Boaty McBoatface" incident or that time when Mountain Dew almost named its newest flavor of soda "Hitler did nothing wrong". I think these two winners of the Steam Game Awards are in a similar boat. People with an internet connection and a point to prove purposefully voted the most absurd and unqualified entries in those two categories to prove to all of us how worthless these award ceremonies actually are, and we're taking it way too seriously.
LOL the people bitter about Baldurs Gate 3 winning a ton of awards is absolutely wild and makes zero logical sense. I hope it keeps winning so the industry gets a wake up call that people want COMPLETE games with no microtransactions.
Never said it did? Just saying that games that are complete are rare so shitting on a game just because you didn’t like it doesn’t make sense. There are plenty of games I don’t like, but I understand why people like them and can objectively say they are good.
Well sure is a lot of PlayStation ponies, making videos about a silly award. Why don't you all go play some games? Oh wait, that's right. You don't have any.
Sadly only people who play triple a games vote for the games they know, When the other indie games are some of the best most innovated games this year yet they lost cause people don’t know theym
Literally halted my stream to catch my breath because I was laughing so hard at Starfield being nominated for innovative gameplay.
Starfield was innovative, never before have we had a space exploration game that doubles as a sleeping aid
nah, it couldn't even innovate with that. No Man's Sky beat it by 7 years
I agree, it is a farce and sad to see these games receiving these awards. Glad to see you making a video again, hope to see more vids from you Fanta!
Thanks! I hope to be a lot more active this year!

Best soundtrack is The Last Of Us? How does that make sense?
Last of us part 1 won best soundtrack over Pizza Tower and Hi Fi Rush. PIZZA TOWER, AND HI FI RUSH.
Where the fuck are they pulling this data from.
Thinking they both got fucked by funny puzzle game (cocoon) for the best debut indie in the game awards
And here I thought Sony giving themselves a GOTY award for Spider-man 2 was the saddest awards moment this time around.
I don’t think it was a paid for award, I think it was memed to victory. Also, people just vote for the names they know.
Starfield was my worst disappointment of 2023
Starfield and RDR2 were most definitely everyone jokingly voting for an award they knew would never deserve. Thing is, too many people did it as a joke and that's what caused them to end up there, at least from my point of view
Hardly surprising when it was all started back when NFS Heat of all games gets nominated into "Best Soundtrack" category in 2020 Steam Awards
I think the labor of love thing was people trolling rockstar.
like... if they get the award they will pay attention to us and we get updates xD
Even no mans sky is a labor of love.
The annount of content they added post launch for free is insane
As a player of RDO I started my ass off when it won the Labor Of Love like bro that game is dead asf

Honestly no man’s sky should have won the labor of love reward.
Or at least been nominated. It’s won a few times iirc, but it definitely deserves to be in the spotlight for how much that studio has put into that game.
most innovative gameplay award : starfield
game of the year : the day before
..........
The last of us for best soundtrack? Nobody else going to point out how stupid that is?
The sound track is great wdym

The labor of love should’ve been cyberpunk or no man’s sky
I’d argue against Cyberpunk since it launched broken and their fix was with the launch of paid DLC, but it’s certainly more deserving than RDR2.
@@FANTAVISION a lot of the updates they made are free and you don’t need the dlc for it
Awesome video yay
It’s because only the most popular games win cause it’s 100% fan voted and a bunch of them are clueless and only know triple a games
pizza tower was robbed..TWICE
yomi hustle got completely robbed tbh
Damn I haven’t seen you since last year. Time flies. Happy new year.
lol happy new year!

All the people who voted The Coffin of Andy and Leyley if only as a joke I don't believe for a second it wasn't a finalist
You have no idea how these awards work, huh?
They’ve never been this bad before.
Damn YT not sending me notifications.
Do you have the bell activated on my channel? Just asking to see if that’s not even working anymore
Red Dead Redemption II was incredible, except the online. Starfield can get buried in the desert like E.T.
It WAS incredible for the single player campaign that came out years ago, but then they neglected it almost immediately.
People who voted for RDR2 thought the year was 2010.
Rdr2 came in 2018
@@Crocc101 That it did, however Undead nightmare got released in 2010 - for rdr1. which was also the last Single player DLC for any of their games.

Not going to lie sometimes I voted for games just for the troll factor.
Your right mehgate 3 over hogwarts is a joke
LOL the people bitter about Baldurs Gate 3 winning a ton of awards is absolutely wild and makes zero logical sense. I hope it keeps winning so the industry gets a wake up call that people want COMPLETE games with no microtransactions.
@FANTAVISION um hogwarts had zero seems your knowledge is lacking of your defending mehgate 3 on purpose.

What gpu you have??
gr8 vid
Well Fanta it is actually a meme, people voted for it to be ironic
The problem is it’s very not funny and Steam should legitimately have some quality control when it comes to the nominees
Starfield is not a bad game.
Red Dead devs are laughing
Fallout 0.5 in space shouldn't win ANYTHING !!!
How's White? Is he posting videos?
Fantaa do you not understand that this was a troll award. You're not supposed to take it seriously. Many have pointed it out
That’s cope
Like I said, even if it is a joke, it comes at the expense of indie devs and more deserving games.
Trash options for the nominations.

Just for the memes
Remnant 2 should have won
Remnants valid but YOMI hustle is genuinely one of the most creative concepts for a game I've seen in a while
I voted for Starfield because it was the only game in that category that I actually knew lol
OOF
Fair play.
That's actually fair.
Only one even remotely capable of being recognised was remnant 2
