HaHa I feel ya. If the bottle is not full that helps alot. Half to almost empty works best. With my alcohol I put it in a needle nose tip bottle and only put about an 1/8th in it. When the bottle if full it shoots out and makes a mess.
#1 It's cheap. I use it to play and make cards. So I am thinking yupo would not work well. If I had more expensive material I would not feel free to just play and sometimes make a mess. #2 it works. But I have found that not all Glossy photo papers work. I have heard staples makes one that will do good but Kirklands has been my go to. I get mine from Costco.com not amazon.

For the leaves, did you not use any isopropol…..
no just the Marabu green. Not all Marabus will do this well but the green does great. Tim Holtz and pinata do not do this. Just Marabus.
What type of ink are you adding to do the splatters? Is it the Indian ink or the acrylic ink?
mostly acrylic ink. bombay and indian ink work well too.
The flower is beautiful but the flecks took away from it. 😕
It can sometimes, but you don't know until it is too late. Ha Ha
