Santiago also known as Santiago de Chile, is the capital and largest city of Chile as well as one of the largest cities in the Americas. It is the center of Chile's most densely populated region, the Santiago Metropolitan Region, whose total population is 8 million, of which more than 6 million live in the city's continuous urban area. The city is entirely in the country's central valley. Most of the city lies between 500-650 m (1,640-2,133 ft) above mean sea level.
Providencia is a commune of Chile located in Santiago. It belongs to the Northeastern zone of Santiago de Chile. Providencia is home to a large upper middle to upper-class population and it holds the region's highest percentage of population over 60 (22%). It contains many high-rise apartment buildings as well as a significant portion of Santiago's commerce. It is notable for its large, old and elegant houses inhabited in the past by the Santiago elite and now mostly used as offices.

Oh Stuart, about your question: where do the tourists in Chile come from, I was reading the information and after our neighbors (Argentina in the first position of course), we have people who come from the US, France, Spain, Germany and the UK at the top five.

Me gustan esos tejados en las casas. No suelen verse en esta parte del mundo y le dan un toque distintivo.

Las tejas, de greda,cemento, o de lo que sean, son de uso común en todas las viviendas unifamiliares en Chile, desde los barrios de la clase media hacia arriba y deben estar muy bien sujetas o ancladas a las vigas del techo, por los frecuentes terremotos en nuestro país. Con tanto ensayo y error, nuestros arquitectos e ingenieros han aprendido con cada movimiento sísmico a construir barrios como éste, cuyo origen debe ser de los años 40 del siglo pasado y ahí lo tenemos en piè aún, soportando los terremotos de 1960, 1971, 1985 y el del 2010
Es una estética bien colonial de hecho, típica de las viviendas más antiguas de Chile y sorprende como dices que, a pesar de que tenemos constantes terremotos, se mantienen en muy buenas condiciones.
entretenida experiencia, los colores como titando a Pastel son a propósito o la cámara no acompaña mucho?
Fue el color grading que hice para apalear el bajo rango dinámico de la cámara y además lograr un look específico, pero no logré el resultado que buscaba. Aún estoy aprendiendo.

Las casas balncas realzan los colores de las flores, se ve hermoso. Los chilenos en general no cuidan lo que se dice en ingles, "curve appeal", o sea embellecer el frente de la casa. La mayorias tienen los discos de satelite de las Tv en frente de la casa en USA no lo permiten y deben ser colocados atras o a un costado de la casa.
El problema es que las mismas compañías de televisión/internet instalan esas antenas en el frontis de las viviendas, con el fin de tener mejor recepción de la señal, y claramente la estética no es prioridad para ellos, solo les interesa sumar clientes.
No todos los Chilenos ,muchos si cuidamos con jardines la fachada y veredones

Tanto colorinche se ve tan feo. Las casas antiguas deberian respetarlas en su arquitectura, nunca fueron de esos colores.
