    This works like a dream. I've gotten rid of the lock screen ads on two 5th gen Fire 7s, a 5th gen HD8, a 7th gen Fire 7 and a 7th gen HD 8. Once I did first, the others took about a minute each. Many thanks!

    Works just tried. updated to newest version of fire OS before this and it still works. i used my PC to get the files. moved them onto a micro sd card put that card into my fire and used es file manager to install. i also used windows Powershell and used .\adb instead of adb and windows command prompt. i will stay posted if there is any ads after tonight. Thanks for the walkthrough.
    Edit: ads came back in the morning. Did not work.

    I was worried about replacing my high-end older oasis with this one czcams.com/users/postUgkxCgPI5O2AtmcHq9SJhgsCGbpAzJAJfrJp but it is surprisingly light and the screen resolution is just as good. I never had the warm light on my old kindle, but i do not use it on the ipad so I will probably not need it. I think the only thing I'll miss is the self-adjusting light, but this is so worth it!

    I used the adb command script and that works but amazon is wise to it and ad screen comes back within an hour. Is there an adb command to lock amazon out so they can't force any updates? We paid for these tablets and they belong to us to do as we please I don't think amazon should be allowed to force updates and ads on something I bought and paid for.....need a script to lock out further updates.....thank you...

    I emailed Amazon customer service. I told them my Fire 10 tablet was a gift (it was), that the ads were annoying and the ads were for apps I was not remotely interested in. I asked them to disable the special offers and waive the $20 fee for this long time customer. Received a reply a few hours later stating they were disabling the special offers "as you are a valued customer to Amazon" and they waived the fee. All I needed to do was toggle the tablet's wifi.
    This is not as sexy as the solution offered in the video, but one that I was more comfortable with. Also this direct approach may be an option for those that were not able to get the video solution to work.

      go to Amazon's website, scroll to the bottom, click on "Help" then "More" and talk to a live representative. tell them "the ads are intrusive and not kid friendly." be NICE. and if they say "it will be a 15 dollar charge." tell them no thanks. they'll ask what else they can do for you, then you just say the same thing. "could you please make them less intrusive?" they'll "talk to a manager" and then they'll "waive the fee" and turn them off immediately. you can do all of this online, without physically speaking with someone. very easy, very quick. and it works.. i literally just got done doing it.

  • @CalBruin
    @CalBruin Před 6 lety +16

    At the date of making my comment here, the process worked with some minor issues.
    1. In case your PC does not "see" your Fire Kindle, i.e. the Fire does not show up under Device Manager list under the USB, then may need to install kindle fire drivers. Do that first and reboot computer.
    2. Before or just after opening the Command window, double-click i.e. open the adb app in the folder downloaded from the google docs. This allows the PC to recognize the adb command. More specific, the PC shortcut common technique is opening the Command Window while inside the folder i.e. the folder with add app front and highlighted and then Shift-right click for opening.
    3. As suggested by another commenter, use the line
    pm clear com.amazon.kindle.kso
    instead. This worked for me.
    Curious, even after an update in September 2017, I am still on version 5.4.0. But I am not complaining so long as I have no more (irrelevant) ads on the locked screen.

      Mine did this too... download the device driver that is pinned at the top and try again. It will find your device in the command prompt once the driver is installed (will still show as "portable device" though).
