I was once part owner/employee of a Blues bar in Galveston, Texas back in 2001. There was plenty of Blues music, locals, and members of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club. My favorite time was after closing when I was cleaning up. I would pour me a glass of Jameson and play Frank Sinatra's "In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning". It was so peaceful and quiet. Just me, Jameson, Frank Sinatra, the waves of the Gulf of Mexico crashing on the the shoreline, and my thoughts meandering in a serendipity of early morning loneliness.

Very cool and poetic story...Did the late and enigmatic Texan John Dawson Winter III ever play in your club?

its smooth and buttery. First time drinking it and I am very impressed. It is cheap and commonly available. I am new to whisky but this is the first one I really liked.
Vanilla, butter and that's about it. It isn't complex but a fine choice.

a drop of Jameson when you can't fit anymore pints in you, sounds about right lol

You can't go wrong with a good old bottle of Jameson for an every day dram. Inexpensive, smooth, more than good enough to drink neat/on the rocks and great tasting for the price. For an affordable every day whisk(e)y that can be sipped, my go to is either Jameson or Johnnie Black. However, recently I found Bushmills 10 year single malt on offer at £25, so I thought I'd see what all the fuss is about... honestly... give me a dram of Jameson anyday; it's just so smooth and easy to drink.
The best tasting whisk(e)y's are those that taste best to you, and although it's slighly off subject I'd take a bottle of Johnnie Green or Gold over a most single malt scotch of a similar price any day. Again, The best tasting whisk(e)y's are those that taste best to you.
Thanks for your review; I really enjoyed watching.

I'm not an avid whiskey drinker myself, but I gotta say that out of the few that I've tried, Jameson has been the best one so far, very smooth and mild as you said, very good in cocktails. just had an AMAZING whiskey sour with Jameson whiskey. Nice review!

Jameson was probably the first decent whiskey I recall enjoying many years ago. I've long since moved on and expanded my taste but I always keep a bottle of Jameson on the shelf. Its not top shelf Irish by any means but it's a nice easy drinker to have on hand. One thing though, $20 a bottle US is long gone, it's around $30 now.

I cant resist a channel about Whisky. I watched your video on the band saw box and enjoyed it. Just thinking about trying my first one. I am just finishing up my very small, pretty complete and efficient wood shop at my Nebraska Camp. I call it my camp as when i retired from the fire service I sold everything and became trailer trash (full time RV) and this is where I keep my trailer. I'm here for my obsession which is upland bird hunting. I love that you have your Whisky channel in your wood shop. I usually sip a little whisky in my shop at the end of the day. Looking forward to watching several more whisky videos.

After watching your reviews I’ve finally subscribed. I like your way, the Irish accent and the toast. Keep up the good work. Oh, and based on your review, I picked up a bottle of Slane. Nice, but the jury is still out.

One of my favorites when I drink Irish, but I have to say I’m more partial to Redbrest or Knappogue. With that said, they are substantially more expensive.

John lovely drop of whiskey. Bit like you used to finish the night off with a nice whiskey and most pubs I used to drinking used to have Jamesons there. With other whiskeys to. But also used to have a whiskey chaser with most points are used to drink as well on some nights. I think that’s because I’m got Scottish blood in me my grandad was Scottish. So carried on the tradition a wee dram

Never took another thought when someone asks me if I'd want a drink or a shot of Jameson.. I keep a half gallon on me at all times. I've dived into the green spots and powers, also the redbreast which I fell in love with. I keep Jameson on hand at all times and it's always been my first go too.. Nothing like what you like. Great review btw, for a great whiskey 👍🏻😉

totally agree with you, it's a good budget whiskey, tho I'm more of Powers fan myself (and redbreast of course but that's not even comparable, usually I only have that when celebrating something), gold label is my usual house whiskey, tho I usually grab a bottle of Jameson if I've run out and don't want to wait the 8 days for systembolaget (the government-owned off-licence) to get it in from Ireland!

Great video and history lesson John...I always drink a bottle or three of Jameson when I am on a P&O Cruise (they always seem to sell it at a reasonable price) Cheers

Another great video. Keep it up! On a side note, I haven't tried it yet, but I found where I can get Redbreast 12 here in Colorado. Looking forward to trying it. Probably not that hard to find since it has a 96 score, and was rated the best Irish whiskey in the world. $52 a bottle, so very reasonable. Probably have to pick some up to celebrate the end of the dark ages here in the US. Sorry, to any fellow yanks I may have offended.

Well put together John... Jameson, everyone's had it at some stage, like you said, it depends how and how much😉.I must say though that I prefer kilbeggan as my budget whisky, but without Jameson we probably wouldn't have kilbeggan back in the stores.

Have you tried Powers gold label ? Nicer than Kilbeggan imo and roughly the same price

Jameson is ok, its an mass produced Irish whiskey it won't blow your mind but its not bad. If you want a really nice Irish whiskey get Redbreast 12.

great channel, I can immediately see that your reaction is about the whiskey itself and not the views. Have you ever tried Canadian Club? Is it comparable to Irish Whiskey? "Zum Wohle!" from Germany.
