    What a lovely review. Love the accent and helpful insights. Nice video. Particularly as I am not a whiskey drinker but learning the art of Mixology I am beginning to look at the Irish nectar types. So this is a very valuable post.

    I really enjoy your review and the knowledge you share. I have to agree with you about Jameson’s and Powers Gold; I keep those on-hand and always have another bottle in my inventory. I have to also have Maker’s and Green Spot in my inventory. I’m not a fan of Kilbeagan and will not get it again. Again I really enjoy your reviews and educational opportunities. Thank you.

    I’m new to your channel and I have to say I just love it. Your reviews are spot on, plus I like that you give the history of the distillery and the area. I just had my 65th birthday last week with some friends gifting me Powers Gold and Yellow Spot. My son surprised me with a bottle of Tipperary, single malt Irish. It was their 3rd batch and it’s bottle #1 of 1,916 bottles. Sentimental in that my great grandmother was from Tipperary.
    Keep up the good work and Slainte!

    Spot on pretty much with all your choices. Tried the Waterford and definitely not enough going on. Friend gave me a blind sample of it and felt not v much going on. The three swallows is best 30€ u could spend on a whiskey when it’s discounted. Need to try Slane neat to get a better idea of it. Love red breast but yet to try yellow spot & cask strength. Also based on the three swallow I should go up a tier and try the next powers on the podium. Powers is amazing whiskey. Bought a tuath glass based on this channel and love it. Keep up the good work. Would love your thoughts on bushmills black bush. Another bargain at 26€ imho

    The Glendalough Double Barrel is quite interesting. One of the bottles I had didn’t change at all, the second one was really weird at first and got much better over time. Needless to say, they were totally different. Even with the bottle in front of me I wouldn’t have guessed that it should be the same whiskey

    Jameson Crested 10 (now Jameson Crested because it's not 10 years old and someone complained) is a gorgeous whiskey, full of flavours, smooth as silk and you'll find it between €25 to €35 in offy's and supermarkets. Definitely would recommend and worth a try at that price...

      @@thewhiskeyshed.4105 I tried 3 of the Teelings. Single Malt: is good but not impressive, probably won't get. Small Batch: not fantastic, seems very young and bright, definitely won't get. Single Grain: this is awesome, have a bottle and really enjoy, has a rounder creamier body and has character, closer to Redbreast 12. Love the channel, big fan of Ireland and their whiskey future. From a half-Irish American, cheers!

    A bit surprised to not find Tullamore Dew on your shelf. For now, it’s my go to inexpensive Irish whiskey for sharing. Also tried a Sexton yesterday that was affordable and very pleasant. Since my comment earlier, I did pick up a Powers John’s Lane and I really enjoy it. Also got my first Red Breast 12 and a bottle of Slane. The Slane is my new bottom shelf go-to, then either the Powers or RB 12. Top shelf belongs to Middleton VR and a Middleton Barry Crocket.

      I have not tried the Slain or any of the Middleton's you speak of. I do love John's Lane and RB12 equally. Also, there's nothing wrong with Powers 3 Swallow. I'd say my top shelf is reserved for RB21. I'd love to find an RB27 but at the same time, maybe not. Don't know if I could pull the trigger on a $500 bottle!
      As a side note, the Tealings Black Pits is pretty good too... if you like a peated whiskey.

    • @dalegeorge1339
      @dalegeorge1339 Před rokem +1

      Currently I do have open bottles of RB 21 and the Midleton Barry Crocket. I give a slight preference to the RB 21, but just barely…depending on the day I suppose. As far as Teeling you mentioned, I will keep an eye open for it…but the Teeling small batch I have open has been a little disappointing. Others have loved it so either my taste runs different or maybe it’s been open too long. And yeah…$500 is probably out of consideration for RB 27, but I bet it’s a great sipper!

    3. West Cork
    4. Glendalough
    *** Personal note: I am working on tracing back my Irish family lines and know that one branch (Betts/Bates, Austin & Bryan families) came from the town Clonmel, Tipperary (right on the border of Waterford) which I believe is near where your from! The other branches have been more troubling.

    For me, the standard Redbreast 12. Redbreast loses so much mouthfeel through the chill filtration and 40% abv. Yellow Spot absolutely kicks its arse.

    I think it's funny the Irishman doesn't like the American bourbon whiskey😅. This is a pure and true Irishman. (However Makers is a non traditional wheated bourbon which isn't my favorite either). I like Irish whiskey but find it to mild and bit boring. But I like these reviews because I want to like it more.
