I saw your eyes
And you made me smile
For a little while
I was falling in love
I saw your eyes
And you touched my mind
Although it took a while
I was falling in love
I was falling in love
I saw your eyes
And you made me cry
And for a little while
I was falling in love
I was falling in love
Falling in love
Falling in love
Falling in love

2024 - this song still awesome!💥
WORD! I am seeing them live next month.....
I saw A flock of Seagulls on Thursday, 2/16/23. Glad to experience live music from my childhood when I was 10.
I think this is just a timeless song
@@liamgillett9068 It's timeless because it's "Space Age" as the tittle says. It still sounds pretty futuristic.
2045. This song is awesome!!!!!!
There will NEVER be a time like the 80s ever again. How Lucky we were for those who got to experience it. What a Time it was!
I REALLY wanna see what it was like. I'm 14, but LOVE the 80s. I'd love to live in the 80s for a week.
I was there and loved this when it came out but to be honest I would trade that for being 20 again.
@@catemills5696 you didnt miss anything. You have your youth plus you still get to enjoy 80s culture. I would gladly trade you your age for mine.
The 80s was a magical time to grow up. I absolutely loved the New Wave music of the late 70s to the mid 80s.
Let me introduce you to 80s nostalgia & retrowave...you're welcome.... 80s are always with us because they're ETHERNAL. Just play some nice synthpop or italo disco :)
They took 25 words and just over 3 minutes and made a masterpiece that is still being played 40 plus years later.....ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!!!
You speak the truth,my faithful,ahem like-minded companion
ok home many times did he stroke the guitar
it has nothing to do with words, thats what our current simple brain thinks that word counts make something great.
He played this song using a Irish penny.@@musicland2024-gq2pb
Those who were not around for the 80s missed a great ride.
Man did they ever.
Forever thankful to be Generation X🤘
@@Sanguine_AddictionHell yeah!
If the producers of Stranger Things can include this song into a future season then the younger gen will appreciate it
was born in 70 so wow what luck for me - am stuck in late 80s forever so the future and now can just F O
There are certain 80s songs that give me an overwhelmingly painful and bittersweet sense of nostalgia. This is definitely one of them.
Amen to that
You just described this song perfectly in how it affects me when I hear it.
i was born in the 90s but i get a similar feeling listening to this song probly cos my dad raised me on 80s movies
Good job explaining
Perfectly Said.
That guitar melody is so simple but so memorable. You don’t mistake it for any other song. And when Paul Reynolds switches octaves it really makes your heart swell. An amazing song from an amazing decade
I'm playing along right now Louie. Good vibes, brother
🤗🧡💛💚💟
Indeed, well said!
I think the guitarist listened to some Alex Lifeson growing up. The guitar parts sound very early 80s Rush, like Signals/Grace Under Pressure. Not saying this guy was a good as Alex or anything, but I totally hear Rush in the song.
@@michaelburkhart4574 Well what you are saying might be true both albums you cited came out after this song was made.
My wife and I danced to this at our wedding for our first dance. I told her I was going to marry her after two weeks of dating. Here we are 10 years later, and here is this song, still absolutely crushing it. ❤
I would have loved to seen the faces at that reception....😆
God really blessed me with allowing me to be born in 1969, so from start to end of 80s music and movies along with tv shows are a full memory and it was the absolute best of all these. My band is an 80s rock cover band and we get booked while other bands are trying to get a show once every 6-8 weeks. People including teenagers now actually know the music and it’s awesome to see how our generation of things has totally impacted them. Thank you God
Nice but you missed the 60's, the greatest era of music.
I won't forget, in 2018 my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. I made a lot of mistakes in my short sweet time I had left with my dad. We always bonded over music. His memory was so perfect. He could tell me when and where he wqs and what he was doing when he first heard any music. This among other is one the songs he showed me and opened up to me about. He passed in 2019, he lives with me every day in the music he showed me. I'm so thankful he showed me the songs that made an impression on him.
What a great set of memories. Remember him well, through his great taste in music.
Music will always walk with you.. fortunate
Just got choked up reading that. God bless you and your father in heaven
Los padres entregamos parte de nuestra vida al hacer conocer ésta música a nuestros hijos...es algo maravilloso el legado que te dejó❤🥲
Thank you so much for sharing ❤️ the 80s were an age when anything was possible.
You would never have known the magic of the 80s unless you experienced it first hand.😊
Those of us who played vice city got a little taste of it
yes i experienced the 80's the first half was the most magical and it felt like i was living in THE TWILIGHT ZONE, i thought it would never end it was really magical
@@tonydisanto6730 I graduated HS in 88, and in so many ways the 80's were a fantastic time. So much good music, politics weren't so overbearing, and everything made a lot more sense back then.
Agreed. Early 80's was a great time to be alive man.
Never had a worry...😎
With great hair brings great responsibility. This love song soars and soars and soars.
Totally agree👍
Like the hair!
All bout da hair, but I cry for the pre-Reagan era. I was there. It was fun
mike score the singer great song writer
Paul Reynolds MADE this band. These riffs are AMAZING! I was 21 whe this came out, and while all my friends were into Zeppelin and Skynyrd, they didn't get this music. But I couldn't get enough. The New Wave was a hell of a ride!
Same here...I was much more into the New Wave stuff like FOS and Echo and the Bunnymen, the Church, the B-52's...God, it was one awesome song after another...
Paul marco esta banda dando un sonido inigualable, junto al gran bajista eran un gran complemento. A flock of seagulls icono de los 80s
I liked it all!
As the old adage goes, 'Don't be sad that it's over. Be grateful that it happened'
52 years old now .. the beginning of this song still gives me chills!!! Literally brought tears to my eyes. Took me back to a WONDERFUL time! ❤
Love this song so much!!

A time sadly passed , I'm 53 and miss the 80s so much , the song is another level compared to today's insincere songs,
Me too im 52 and with great memories of the good times.
Im 64 and I absolutely concur with you Debra , I miss the 80’s sooo much 😢 ♥️
ya heard of NWA?
Paul Reynolds is a guitar genius and riffmaster. The whole band is amazing
The dude definitely started winding it up right here 1:33. His solos were a great compliment to the keyboard. I miss waiting to see what video came up next.. those were the days..
Nah, the undisputed “genius and riff master” is and always will be Tony Iommi. With Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix tied for 2nd.
@@InTheMindOfDavid Of course. But there are far more! For example, Steve Clark, Slash, Angus Young, etc. But Paul Reynolds, even if he is not a rock guitarist, belongs to one of them thanks to his unique and exceptional style. After all, it plays as if you were really hearing Flock of Seagulls
80's music just has a type of magic to them
TOTALLY!!!✨🥰

Paul Reynolds was 19 when he wrote those riffs. 19!
I love how it's melancholy and happy and longing, all at the same time. I still feel it everytime i hear that intro start.
God bless that dude.

This is one of the most nostalgic songs ever recorded, assuning you were around at the time. Life is short, youth even shorter. Wistful feelings and dreams never to be relived. That's life.
And then The Edge stole his sound and based his entire career on it
@@waz3128
Yes he did!
@@waz3128 oooo, that's pretty low. No, just kidding! Paul Reynolds is amazing and completely underrated. I don't think people give enough credit to New Wave - some of the best guitar pieces, in fact, came out of 80s New Wave songs like this; great guitar was not the sole province of strict "rock" bands.
God I am so in love with that guitar tone
The '80s really was a good time. We got to enjoy the innocence of an older time without cell phones, yet the beginnings of many new technologies.
The New Wave sounds of the 80's still the best era...
It was the most fun!!
New Wave and Synthpop are definitely represents 80s music
It was purity it was so creative
80s rock n roll

one of the best and most underappreciated songs of the 80's!
That was childhood
This was not in a movie. If you’re talking about the 1990’s movie Career Opportunities, this song was not it in. Someone thought it matched a scene where Jennifer Connolly was in. And the most under appreciated song of the 80’s.

Paul Reynolds was so young here, what an incredible riff!!
Paul Reynolds' atmospheric, textural guitar work is so underrated. We were so spoiled in the 80s!
I would think that any millennial that’s into Angel and Airwaves, The Bravery, The Killers would have discovered Flock of Seagulls a longtime ago. AnA pretty much sounds like this. But if you’re into that Kanye West crap, you’ll never know what your missing.
VAL13C man, I just discovered Flock of Seagulls TODAY. I’ve heard I Ran before but never knew who it was by.
I manage a business centre in Liverpool and we have a chiropodist who has a space here. A very rambunctious guy and lady came in, and she had come to get her feet done.
I got talking to the guy, and he said he played bass in a band, blah blah blah so has every older guy. When I said I was American, he said his band was quite big in the states in the 80s.
I had never heard of this “Flock of Seagulls” but told him my drum kit is next door, so we went through and he drummed for a sec, then grabbed the bass across the stage (the centre is a part of our church, so all instruments are there). So we jammed for a couple minutes and went back to the business centre.
Had a good chat, and when they left, I started YouTubing and Googling this band to see who he was.
When I found this song, it got very real for me. AVA is one of my favourite bands, and to hear this sound in the 80s, which CLEARLY influenced the AVA guys, I found it amazing to have met a guy who was a part of influencing them. ‘Twas a good day today!
Paul reinolds he is jew shalom for jerusalem.
The Edge totally took his playing style...
@Paul Beharrell I don't think Paul Reynolds has ever been underrated. We all know the kind of virtuosic guitar player he is.
Something about this song that goes straight to your heart and soul
I love 70s and 80s music.
The guitar sound is perfect for this song in my opinion, it still sounds futuristic all these years later.
I feel like the keyboard synths definitely add to the atmosphere.
It really does!✨🎸✨
love when a song makes a 57 year old man 18 for a few minutes ....
Me too 🥰🙌🏼
I hear that!
👍👍👍
I was probably 4 or 5 at the time but this song still gives me the chills. songs from the 90s, a little less but they still had impact. I remember little from the 00s and 10s even if they were good or catchy. There's no magic in most music these days
Yep I agree great time to grow up I was 17 in 1981 I'm fifty seven now this music is eternal
I love this song so much I’m crying 😭😭❤
Every member of this band should be very proud of themselves for making one of the best pop songs of the 20th century
It's so true what they say "you don't know how good you have it until it's gone" the 80s was a magical decade.
Every decade since 1950s was magical. Even 2010s.
Truly magical. This song makes me yearn for my younger years.
Thanks to the internet you can relive it!
Best time of my life!

80’s was amazing I was so lucky to have lived those days of my life. Now if I could go back..
me too, ever notice how people posed in pictures in a light hearted way back then, now today people pose like they are kylie jenner wannabees!
Sometimes I cant believe it was 30 plus years ago. We had the best music of all the generations. No cell phones, you just left and came home when dinner was ready. Everything was better. My 501s and my boat shoes or Nike's and my button up shirt with a belt. Gel in my hair.....ahhhh.....
Mary Alatorre I agree with you so much.......what a great time. We did something called “talking to each other.....”
I don't know about you...but, there is a specific time, I would definitely go back to, and relive it all again, except with out all the detours, and pot-holes.
The 80's us when the world was completely set on fire.
Growing up as a kid in the 80s was amazing! The decade was a mix of optimism, innocence, coolness, and pure joy. Sadly, there probably will never be a decade like the 80s again. 😢

I just love Paul Reynolds's "cool as a cucumber" vibe in this video. Playing massively iconic guitar riffs like it's nothing; showing people how it's done without overplaying the part.

I was born in 1988, what were the best aspects of that decade, besides zero political correctness, and synth wave/electronic music?
@@allisvanity...9161 "besides zero political correctness" Well, we could stop right there. However, politics and the destruction of our freedoms aside... Movies from Kubrick, John Hughes, Spielberg, John Carpenter, James Cameron, Oliver Stone, Ridley Scott... Music of many genres from a record industry willing to take risks and invest in artists for the long haul. Early home computing kicked ass. Dungeons & Dragons and the like, i.e. physically getting together with friends and having a ball without spending a lot of money. But probably the most important aspects are the things we didn't have: cell phones and social media. We were free and the stupid little things we did and said as teenagers wouldn't become public and permanent and ruin the rest of our lives.

I'm 61 and I got to listen to music in the 70's as a teenager and in the 80's I was in my 20's . There'll never be 2 decades of music like that again. I mean, Flock of Seagulls were one of hundreds (thousands?) of amazing bands that I got to listen to and in maybe 15 or 20 instances, I went to concerts and saw some of these bands live. I saw Flock of Seagulls and The Fixx in Toronto in the early 80's - they were amazing - and I'll have these experiences to the day I die. Today there's maybe half a dozen bands that I would go see as there just isn't the level of talented musicians as there were in my younger days. I think a lot of people my age maybe don't realize how fortunate we were to live through the 70's and 80's music.

Paul Reynolds is the most underrated guitarist EVER!!
RedHannya
👍 yup..
Chris Changstein Yes! I believe Paul was 14-15 when he joined AFOS and he was around 16-17 years old when they hit it big with I Ran (So far away)
It's really sad he had a break down though and couldn't handle the rock n roll lifestyle + I think he had an alcohol problem. If you watch the VH1 bands reunited episode for AFOS they talk a little about what happened. =\
Chris Changstein No problem! Paul Reynolds is seriously one of my favorite guitarist !
U2's Edges has spoken about him in glowing terms. I've read that Reynolds was just a teen at this point and the pressures of the biz took their toll on his health.
underrated is an #understatement.....
The 1980s had to be the best years of my life! The clothes, music , movies what an experience it really was! Songs like this will always be cherished!!
Timeless brilliance.
The guitar part in this is outstanding. It doesn't sound very complicated, but it doesn't have to be. The tone and feel of it is incredible. Nailed it with this song. I could listen to it over and over and over again.
Oh the guitar riffs are amazing..
aparentemente, pero jamás he podido replicar el sonido de la guitarra de paul en esta canción.
Simple and powerful. What Paul Reynolds did, bringing so much emotion with just 3 notes, is what other guitar players could only dream of.
