One of my favourite songs of the 80’s. Still love it today. The guitar solo is the finest on any pop record from the 80’s. What a sound. Paul’s sound defined AFOS. Class.
Where would this song ever be without Paul's guitar style and creatively composed little parts, it's like a second vocal line it's so pretty, he really made the bands' sound work so well in the early days. Great band.
Just me speaking, but the guitar was the first "line" that I was following. Paul Reynolds proving that you don't have to be overly complicated or play a million different chords to be a really, really, really good guitar player. Certainly one of the best guitarists to come out of the early MTV era, and that statement might be selling him short.

Yeah but these guys did pioneer the use of drum machines. There's a really good interview with them - all four of them - out there somewhere and they talk about it.
It's funny: in some ways I measure a band's worth by its lack of success. You only know that they are pushing the boundaries if they have a few failures behind them. These guys did but they never really gave up which says a lot of positive things.
Brings back so many memories from the 80's. Who would've thought back then that their singers hairdo eventually would be adorned by a future president of America.

The first time I heard this I was living in Suva, Fiji. It came on the car radio and I was nearly catapulted out of my seat. I loved it from the first few notes and sat mesmerized, listening. I still love it today.

What a grand time for music. I was fortunate enough to see Flock of Seagulls at the 1983 US Festival. I was close to stage left all Memorial day weekend.
This takes me back to 1982 driving from Pennsylvania to Maryland to go to the club Deerpark Lodge, in my 1971 Karman Ghia convertible, down the highway with this tape in the cassette player and this song blasting as loud as possible...ahh, good times...

Yeah but these guys did pioneer the use of drum machines. There's a really good interview with them - all four of them - out there somewhere and they talk about it.
TheThirdMan agreed. I had two of their albums. was probably the only guy in the area who did.
It's funny: in some ways I measure a band's worth by its lack of success. You only know that they are pushing the boundaries if they have a few failures behind them. These guys did but they never really gave up which says a lot of positive things.
Marty Pollock man playing machines
1:13 80's chicks were the hottest .)
More hairy
That blonde IS hot...but she has the most un-80s haircut of anyone in the room. So I'm not sure what you are getting at.
Never have there been any hotter! The big hair, the hats, it was heaven!!
2:20 ❤
ok boomers.
REYNO!!! He's like a superhero. Without his guitar he's Paul. Strap on the axe and he transform's into REYNO the guitar machine!
Brings back so many memories from the 80's. Who would've thought back then that their singers hairdo eventually would be adorned by a future president of America.
lmfao..!!!!
Ha ha ha 😆😆
I miss the eighties! And the seventies! Paul Reynolds is incredible.
Not only was Paul Reynolds one of the best guitar players of the day he started a HS revolution with the long peroxide bang blow dry look haircut; he plays so precisely & effortlessly it's scary!
Chase RR he was 15 when he joined the band and the sound he is why this band worked. The bassist said he was a star the moment he plugged in and hit the first chord.
6 notes only on lead
@@humbledb4jesus There is more to guitar than your basic minor pentatonic players. Paul played like no one else did
Amen !
Yea he owned it
Now this is what i called music and the audience is having a blast...80's fuckin' RULE!..RAD BABY!🤘⚡🔥...2021 and still listening...Wicked!🤘🤘🤘
The. 80s. Will. Never. Die. As. Long. As. We. Keep. Listening. To. The. Songs!!😉👍❤️
Paul Reynolds was such an underrated guitar player
Completely agree, and he is probably like 20 years old here.
@@russellfellows7632 17 year old
Yeah he was if not the best lead guitarist of the 80s 👌
Used an English penny instead of a plectrum.
@@staceyhalliday9484
Better than Eddie Van Halen?
Paul Reynolds is great
NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING like the fucking 80's man. The music, the fashion , the club's , the life.
Don't forget about the cocaine man
@@Rush23 never forget the cocaine
The music and the 80s where the best I'd go back in time to that again 🎉
I'm 66 . Good music is timeless. It keeps me ..."young". 😎✌️
Me too
Reynolds is a good guitar Player
As an 80s kid, im embarrassed to say i never saw/heard a live version of this song before. They are awesome!!!
As a child I wasn’t sure what ‘tawny’ eyes meant. I changed the lyrics to ‘I never thought I’d meet an owl like you’.
I’m a roofer now. Customers often catch me getting my groove on up on their roofs to tracks like this on my 80’s playlist.
Great track. One of the really powerful ones for nostalgia.
2:21 It's the 80's so those were real!
+Super Kyle 2:22 So were these...
+Super Kyle real and spectacular
hahaha
not necessarily
BOOBIES!
Excuse my language but im not english : can we fucking bring back the eighties again ? I hope I spelled that correctly but Im Italian ;)
Too right!... and you spelled it correctly!
Give us back the eighties and the nineties and I will be satisfied
And yes you spelled it all correctly
Ateies, korrectly ??
You sure
Lol
Live... one of the best songs of the 80's and still stands up to time.
I was 4 in '82, I'm still stuck on 70's and 80's. Most of the years after are just bits and pieces.
VICE CITY, COCAIN, AND LAMBORGHINIS
DJFREEBASS and MEMORIES

Vice city got raaaaaaped after school
And don't forget Don Johnson 👍
1:11 what a beautiful 80's girl
She is your mom
Back then sure, but not now.
@@makypine4829 Better looks nice for some time than never.
Nowadays, she just wants to scream at her kids soccer coach
What an amazing time to be alive! I was super young but I remember this and many other great bands on MTV when they actually played music videos.
Doing this live !!! I'm impressed 👏 !!! Thank you all so very much !!

the gutarist is good
he was still in his teens when he cut this track. a talent
He was seventeen years old.
If I could only talk to my high school and college 80s self: dude I hate to tell you this but this is time of your fucking life. The greatest decade ever. Best music. Best movies. Study harder and party a little less but not too much less. You’ve got the Hottest chicks. Greatest president. Best dudes you’ll ever know and hang with. Get me a time machine!!!
Sorry but there was NO WAY IN HELL the 80s had the best movies. Also the president was still shit lmao, just less than today. And music is debatable, there are some absolute bangers today. Still a pretty great time period
You're right. I thought I was miserable, struggling then. The struggle was real.
60s got the best president my dude ! ;)
@@rodger3352 hah true
That guitar is pretty awesome, no doubt. But let's give a little love to that bass line. Pretty solid groove going on there -- makes the spare guitar possible.
What a sweet guitar sound! What a rhythm and drive! That`s a real MUSIC!
The first time I heard this I was living in Suva, Fiji. It came on the car radio and I was nearly catapulted out of my seat. I loved it from the first few notes and sat mesmerized, listening. I still love it today.
Living in Fiji ? Wow.
Muuuito massa!
👍🍀And your name 💚🙏
Hell, I'm in my mid 60's and still jammin' to this song!
Ah the good old days, when concerts weren't a bunch of people standing around with their phones up
at 3:12 Paul Reynolds goes on a rage,.. I mean that guitar starts to smoke., . . PAUL IS THE BEST!!!!
That's his fingers smoking he had to stop as he was about to spontaneously combust!
THIS IS WHAT WE CALLED REAL MUSIC FOLKS
THERE'S NOTHING BEAUTIFUL THAN THE 80S
Great song of the 80s and never gets old!
I really liked Paul Reynolds style and he had the 80's dance style down pat. His riffs are memorable. Reminds me of the Riffs from Elliot Easton of the Cars in the late 70's. What a grand time for music. I was fortunate enough to see Flock of Seagulls at the 1983 US Festival. I was close to stage left all Memorial day weekend.
No one plays like Reno. His style/tone is so unique.
I love the sound of Paul Reynolds guitar riffs in this song.
Trump was such a great singer back then...
I knew someone else would see what I was seeing, thanks for not disappointing me haha
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Best President
Hahahahaaaaaa🙃
XD congrats man
Unreal performance - Still sounds like the future! 😀 2:17 - 2:22 Looks like a good time 🕺🏼💃🏼
1980s music is just amazing. I was born in 1983 but I know more about the 80s music than any other era lol. Just love it.
Paul Reynolds can really play the lead well.. His riffs made the band..
2:20 Awesome 80 chick
greghol boobies
@@gruppenfuhrer45 those boobies belong to someone's Mom! LOL!
This takes me back to 1982 driving from Pennsylvania to Maryland to go to the club Deerpark Lodge, in my 1971 Karman Ghia convertible, down the highway with this tape in the cassette player and this song blasting as loud as possible...ahh, good times...
LO BUENO JAMAS PASA DE MODA.... AGUANTE A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS!!!!
I don't know if everyone realizes how awesome Paul's guitar playing was, and was single handedly the difference maker in the Seagulls sound. I'm not even sure he knows how revelutionary he was at the time, I think everyone assumed it was synthesizers that was the difference,..... Really amazing and under rated
Yes,fantastic sound and very unique.
This is one of the best lead guitarists in the world. The guy can take a few notes and fill the whole arena. Very rare. If a hair dress can be a rock starr, anyone can.
Im 51 and i still get goosebumps off these historic tunes!
Big Country played such a big part of my life as a 16 year old in 1984!
That 80s true sound that no one can ever come close to replicate. Wonderful 🎵
Reyno is a savage.... so insanely gifted and so young here!
F**k I miss the 80's!
I'm 73 and I love it too. I think the lead guitarist is a bit special.
A band that has a sound that will never die.
There are many songs that epitomize the 80s but I think this one is the most iconic 80s song.
In my opinion, the 80’s was such a magical time for music as a whole, everything that came out from that era was and is just so magical and stands its ground against any other music era
Damn, this is always a fantastic song. I always find myself getting lost in the ambience at the beginning of it, and then sucked into the rocking beat and riffs, unable to escape until it ends, yet I never want to end anyways. It's videos like these that make me wish I were a lot older than I am if only so that I could be there to experience the events in-person. Long live the 80's!
Very much alike we are.
I was there, sadly when there everyone wished they were there for the 60's and 70's to witness Blackmore,Page,Hendrix,Clapton..
Blondie was another great group from early 80's... Clem Burke elite drum kit..
Steve Miller was cool in early 80's to.. Billy Thorpe......
Wanna hear something really 80's? Aussie Band Called "The Angels""but in the US had to be billed Angel city due to female group from Jersey..
Doc Neeson the frontman...They were cool and underrated here..,I loved the 80's...
Paul reynolds genius guitar!! Flock seagulls great band!!!'80 the best pop england.
STILL a mega-favourite to this day! Damn these dudes can rock!

Maria Gutierrez get ready for another 4 years. Do you need a crying towel???
I love Paul's riff at 2:17.
I took your Cheetos I love it at 4:28.
"The 80's" every girl looked like Madonna, and EVERYONE in the club was doing Cocaine... ah, The Good ol Days!✌
when Paul Reynolds climbs the scale at 1:28 that is instant happiness
Look for the Dortmund, Germany concert on here. The camera gave him a lot of air time. I made a few gifs from it just to watch him going up and down the scales.
I love driving down the highway with this blasting at full volume with the windows down. Always get lots of positive reinforcement, thumbs up and waves, smiles.
Get a AFOS wig also, might even try it myself.
The Human League , Men Without Hats, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Squeeze, Split Enz, Fabulous Poodles and Flock of Seagulls ...what a great era.
