I can not agree more, story telling is such a lost art. Sermons nowadays feel so generic.
Depends on what you expecting from sermons
Depends on who's preaching
Jesus knew this, of course: "Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, 'Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.'"
Jesus knew that no sermon, no speech, no apologetics course or presentation could ever trump just telling the people you know what Jesus did for you.

I have been to churches that never taught like that. I wasn't even looking for this, but I found it. and I am glad I did.

I love this. Don't know how many times I've seen it but I get emotional every time I do. I love the honesty. I wish I could say I'm done watching it but I can't say that. Something hits home with me every time and it fills some kind if need I can't explain. Thank you, Jeff.

As another friend of Bill W. I had no idea Jeff is a sober alcoholic. Theres NOTHING he said that doesnt hit home. This man, who is absolutely hilarious, has such a strong, movie story. Only an alcoholic can understand every part of what he has to say. I have a legit 27 years myself and Im in awe of how much he conveys.
Nope. Addicts of all substances can relate to Jeff.
@@shellyannhan8279 it never ceases to amaze me that somebody with months sober, wants to chime in when sobriety speaks up. You obviously left out some of the problems a newcomer wrestles with. Instead of being defensive, go back to your sponsor and get whatever you missed taken care of and when you've gotten done, maybe you wont chime in on something that has NOTHING to do with you. I cant sit here and explain what your idea of it is. The first thing any new person should learn is youre NOT that important.
I just finished reading Jeff Allen's book, "Are We There Yet?" and it's great! Everyone needs to read it. I have always enjoyed his humor, but his book is even better! Tami, please make him write another one! 😊

I actually had great success at getting an atheist friend to ready the Bible by starting with Ecclesiastes back in the mid 2010's. Thank you for reminding me of that.
My generation needs to start with this book of the Bible, especially my fellow men.

I can relate to you when you say "Why". I haven't found the reason as devastating things continue to happen.
That was an awesome testimony. Even as a woman and not an addict, I could relate to some of what you said from my own past. A little still lingers in the present. And I can relate to wanting answers. I'm happy for you that you found your answers in Christianity. I didn't. I was raised in Christianity. I spent around 50 years going to church, for quite a few years I was there regularly every week, at bible studies, prayer meetings, evangelistic meetings, seminars. I visited churches of other denominations. I never found the answers I really needed. Turned out for me, Judaism had them. And I'm going to do for you what people don't do for me. I'm going to trust that you found the right path for you and I'm not going to treat you like you're an idiot because you have a different set of beliefs. And I'll end with saying my husband and I watched a long video of your comedy and we loved it! It was hilarious. So relatable.
