- How to Add Depth and Dimension to Your Botanicals with Mixed Media Collage
I've worked for years to figure out ways to take my botanicals from flat, uniform and manufactured looking structures to ones that are whimsical, multi-dimensional and imperfect. One of the main ways I have found to do this is with mixed media collage. I hope you enjoy this method and if you'd like to learn more about how to make papers and to use them, I would love to have you join me in Introduction to Collage: Learning to Paint with Paper. It's SUPER FUN.

My pleasure, Rhonda. I love sharing. 😊
I took the plunge and am taking Marabeth’s course, I love it! Although she makes it look easy it’s not . I’ve only just started. I’ve never taken any art courses before glad I chose this one.😊
You just let me know if I can help in any way, I’m happy to. It’s definitely a learning curve, but that’s also the fun of learning a new process. Happy New Year, Betty!
@@marabethquinart my name is Diana 😊
These days I am watching your videos and enjoy a lot .I am from Iran but have been living in vancouver ,Canada since 3 years ago. You speak with good accent and perfect sentences and use so useful words and your voice is kind of medeitation ❤❤I am learning painting and improving my English skills at the same time .Actually I am killing two birds with one stone 😂😂 I appreciate that .And I wonder if your education was related to literature or maybe you read books a lot .However I want to thank you again .Yesterday I told myself I wish we were in the same city and could meet each other in person .I hope you continue on youtube and be successful always .❤
Hi Raana! I so appreciate all of the kind words 🥰 Your English is very impressive-I can’t imagine how hard that is to learn an entirely new language. I hope you are enjoying Vancouver, it’s such a lovely place! Keep creating! And if you ever want to take a class, I hope you join one of mine. 😊
Beautiful! Have you made a video about creating the painted tissue paper? Do you use wet strength tissue, or have you mastered the delicacy of plain gift wrap tisue? Thank you😊
I teach this in both of my classes: marabethquinart.thinkific.com/courses/mixed-media-collage-and-the-intuitive-landscape and also show a bit in this video: Making Dynamic Layers with Mixed Media Collage

Thank you Marabeth. I've been loving your work, it truly sparks inspiration for me. I'm expecting the arrival of a gelli plate tomorrow 😂. I have been using a box of baking paper, ( which promised to be non stick and didnt keep it's promise in the kitchen), to create some transparent collage papers, mostly with watercolour and marks. I love the idea of diluting acrylic and painting. Play, play playtime 😂❤
It’s so fun, I spend hours making papers and am in heaven! I’m glad you’re liking it and thank you for the kind words
💖
Thank you 😊
how do you create your acrylic tissue paper? perhaps a video on this process will be helpful?..
I show a bit in this one: czcams.com/video/O0G51FWIsCo/video.htmlsi=BA_t1Ty5xMS9N6UX and I also teach this in depth in two of my classes: marabethquinart.thinkific.com/courses
Did I see a video of yours where you are quickly making you painted tissue paper? If so which video is it .I've been looking over and over and cant find it
I’m pretty sure it’s this one: “Making Dynamic Layers with collage Papers”
Love it. What acrylic paint would you suggest as a set? Liquids? tubes? Thanks❤
Any acrylic that you like will work, but if I had to suggest a very pigmented brand that I love, a good one is Nova Color. There are others though so you have lots of choices.
@@marabethquinart I really appreciate your response. Tell me, how do you keep your brushes clean and how do you keep your hands clean? Since I've been learning about acrylics I've never had more dryer, dishpan hands. I tried to buy a nontoxic brush cleaner but it turned out to be terribly toxic. called bristle magic. Any suggestions beyond soap?
I will use Murphy’s Oil Soap to soak them when they are a bit dried and crusty. Then I wash them out (not nearly enough!) with “The Masters brush cleaner and preserver”. But I cannot attest to what the ingredients of it are. And as far as keeping my hands clean, I wipe them a lot, but I also love using the Golden Satin Glazing Liquid more than matte medium because it doesn’t cake on my hands as much.
what paint sticks are you use
Those are Shuttle Art Tempera Paint Sticks
