  • Here we go!
    Test drives have officially opened for the Tesla Model 3 Performance.
    (Note: Supervised Test drives!)
    I’m bringing you with me to see how it is.
    My short overall summary is:
    - Great Seats - This should be standard in all cars! The bolsters aren’t too big/wide or intrusive. Just right.
    - Steering wheel feels good for a car but even on the sportiest setting - it still lacks feedback. It’s just “heavier”
    - Suspension - This is the number 1 difference in my eyes coming from a Model Y Performance. Very forgiving and great for a daily car. Even on the sportiest setting; the bumps are pretty much absorbed. Quite amazing for a car with 30/35 profile tyres
    Would I get one?
    Time will tell. Right now - No.

      @@VoltEVReviewsAU That's what I love about the whole thing. Here in the US, at my "local" Tesla showroom, test drives are unsupervised as well. They take you to the car, show you how everything works (if necessary), ask you what kind of roads you want to go on (be it highway, back roads, scenic route, or a mix of both and then they put destinations in the nav), and then they say you've got an hour with the car to just drive it around and see how you like it. It feels SOOO WEIRD compared to typical "Car dealerships" where you practically can't even sit in a car you're eyeing in the SHOWROOM without someone breathing down your neck, let alone driving it.
      I mean... it probably helps that it's a Tesla, and they most definitely are keeping track of where it is, especially if you're getting close to that hour mark.

    Awesome Rolland. I placed my order April 27th here in US. No test cars available in Miami yet. Spec’d mine in white with black interior. Can you confirm something about the black sport seats. Do they have a gray welting on the inner edge of seat and side bolsters; similar to the black welting on the white seats?

    • @ZappedAU
      @ZappedAU  Před 14 dny +4

      I test drove the LR a while back. Check it out in my videos. Suspension is as Freakbeast states. Very similar to the LR except this definitely feels more plush/airy/softer as you drive. Don’t forget that the wheels on this car are bigger and tyres are thinner so it’s a good compromise.

  • @Tommmmmmmmmmmm
    @Tommmmmmmmmmmm Před 14 dny +1

    Hey mate, couple of random questions.
    you mentioned there's a noticeable motor whine when you step on it - is the motor whine noticeably louder than in other dual motor Tesla's? and does the regen feel weaker than in other dual motor Tesla's?

    • @ZappedAU
      @ZappedAU  Před 13 dny +1

      Hey mate, it's definitely not noticeably louder. I would say it's on par/same as them.
      I only noticed it more because I wanted all sound/music off for the test drive to see how cabin noise is.
      Regen felt weaker but I'm not too sure if it's to do with the higher state of charge (Was around 72-73% from memory when I started the test drive)
      You can still do 1 pedal driving for sure. That isn't an issue but apparently the regen now re-adjusts based on the current state of charge.

    • @darrentroypearson
      @darrentroypearson Před 13 dny +2

    • @ZappedAU
      @ZappedAU  Před 11 dny

    Like to hear you’re thoughts on how this compares to a Kia EV6 GT as a daily family car.
    Demo GT’s accessible for 80k on road atm.

    • @ZappedAU
      @ZappedAU  Před 14 dny +1

      If an EV6 GT is 80k, I would only buy it if you’re really into the shape or really don’t want a Tesla.
      Tesla has much more space and there’s no lag in the acceleration at all. I felt abit of delay (very minor) when driving the EV6 GT.
      Seats in both are amazing though. Can’t complain! Although just remember that the ev6 GT seats are manual. Not electrically adjustable.

    As a current model Y owner i test drove this last week in Canberra.
    Little did i know i was the first one to TD as informed by tesla staff.
    I took it to country and quieter roads and 40 minutes later with a big smile my decision was made.
    This renders the M3 irrelevant. What a fantastic future.
    I haven't had even close to this much fun behind wheels.
    I can recall this bend recommend speed 55 I was at the legal top of 100 (ahem) it's a 100 zone and this thing was asking me to push faster.
    As a model y owner i wanted to test the suspension and so I did. I gave it a good solid test over every bump at different speeds.
    Suspension is excellent especially with the tyres they seem to work so well together it's unreal grip and comfort.
    Only observation I have is the brakes can feel inadequate with so much speed.
    As you said Nothing comes near it.. you should go for a test drive again in better conditions.

    I think it's time to upgrade from my 2019 model 3 performance. These are such a bargain you could spend a few more thousand on upgrades like power frunk etc. Don't particularly love any of the colours so I might go white and get it wrapped. • @ZappedAU
      @ZappedAU  Před 13 dny

      If you're coming from a 2019, you will be over the moon! Little upgrades will definitely go a long way and make the car feel much better for daily use. Depending on the wrap colour, you might also want to consider black as this means you won't need to wrap the insides if you're going to a darker colour.
      The headliner material is pretty much the same as the ones today. Alcantara/Suede-like materials is only on areas around arm-length height.
      If you haven't watched it already - have a look at the Red M3P one I recorded a couple weeks back. There's interior panning video around on that one and should show you.

    Thanks for the video. Your comments scare me. I was just about to order one. I don’t want soft on the performance car in terms of suspension or handling. I want a comfortable ride but controlled body roll sporty handling, and responsiveness. When I hear soft, I imagine floaty and ride over handling.

    • @ZappedAU
      @ZappedAU  Před 13 dny +1

      Hey @vtv8man. Sorry if it scares you. Let me elaborate abit and hopefully it helps!
      It was raining so I did not get a chance to take a corner hard/harder than what I would do in the rain so I can't comment.
      The soft comment was in relation to it being able to eat the bumps on the road. I drove my Golf R there and always have it in sport mode so you feel every single bump on the road. The car does not feel "airy" nor do you get "body roll" like in a higher SUV (even in the Model Y)
      Overall - it's a very comfortable ride and the throttle response of this car is AMAZING.
      As I didn't get the test going faster in corners; I would suggest a test drive on a sunny/non rainy day and make that decision.

    • @darrentroypearson

    Change to KW suspension $2500
    Full IPE Exhaust system
    Wrap it in what ever fancys you
    Tint it to 5%
    Black Edition body kit
    + The car and it's still cheaper then a model 3 performance and you will have WAY more fun. Sure the tesla is prob absolutely a bullet off the line but you aint beating that N/A 6.2L GORGOUS sound, plus you pick up girls in a Merc/Audi/BMW, not a tesla lol

      Plus I want something that raws and feels like I'm driving a car to work, not some quiet car that feels depressing, imagine cruising through your favorite spot and all you can do is go fast which is not realistic in public areas, but if you have a car that is loud, still fast, and has a lovely feel to it, you are gonna enjoy that cruise 1000x better lol

      Not referring to a W204. Agree that W204 is one of the meanest sounding V8's however from a general ownership/maintenance side of things; you're much more likely to have a list of stuff on a W205 C63S compared to a Tesla. I'm not referring to turning heads of a cheaper W204 + modifications. There are plenty of other cars we could throw into the list if we're talking about much cheaper + mods and turning heads. I feel we have similar taste except I wouldn't do a black edition body kit. That's just my personal view so if you have one - then I am so happy for you (and send me some videos!)

    They also said someone previously was doing 130km in a 60km/h zone and they may have to start supervised drive.
