    The DeWalt Drill/Impact Driver Combo is the go-to tools needed for home building, DIY, and home projects. There are so many awesome features to mention, so please watch the video to the end to see them all. I put the tools to the tests for you to see how they perform under many different tasks. The drill also has a hammer-drill feature and several other setting to customize it according to your needs. I also feature the Bosch Mulit-Purpose Drill BIt Set and the Makita Gold Driver bits, including a #2 phillips, #2 square head, and a T-25 bit. If you want to see these tool tested on something different, please let me know and I'll consider making another video. One other cool thing to mention is that the 60V DeWalt Flex-Volt Battery works in this too. That might come in handy for drilling a 4" hole for a plumbing pipe or dryer vent.
    Question of the day: What's the most important feature in a drill or impact driver? Do you see any improvements that Dewalt could make?
    MUSIC BY: player.epidemicsound.com/
    Question of the day: Whats you next riveting project. Would you build more things if you owned this riveting gun?
    This tool is provided as part of the ProSpective Program with The Home Depot. I just want to say thank you to them as well as DeWalt for providing this tool and sponsoring this video.

    I used this combo today repairing my fences. I am duly impressed with the battery life. Tool not as heavy as I like but it worked. I drove at least a hundred screws changing hinges and adding bracing to stop the gates from sagging. I been had it for over a year and today was my first full work day.

    I have the same kit just comes with the hard case. I was using the hammer drill the other to make some 1/2" holes in tin but my hole needed to be bigger so I "persuaded" it a bit to make the opening a little bigger for what I needed. The drill would shut itself off when it'd catch some tin and not be running as smoothly as when initially drilling the hole. I have been told that this is a safety feature that'll it'll shut itself off like to protect you from hurting your wrists. Can anybody clarify that? I just got the kit a little over a month ago and was super confused as to why it was shutting itself off but just wanted to get some other opinions on it.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 4 lety +1

      It works well if your drilling holes in concrete block. I feel that it's easy to get by without the side handle. I normally rely on a side handle when using a bigger wood bit, like a hole saw or self-feed bit.

    thanks for the video. What is the point of having the impact driver if the drill can do everything it does and better?

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 3 lety +1

      That's a great question. I remember seeing impact drivers on the job sites by other contractors some 10+ years ago. I never seen the need until I tested them out. If you building a deck with 3" screws, you'll notice that the impact drives the screws faster and easier than a drill. You can get by with a drill, but a small, lightweight impact is a great tool. It also works amazing on big lag bolts too.

      Yes, absolutely. The only thing it doesn't have is a hammer drill function. You can still drill into concrete with a masonry bit though. It just takes longer. For everything else, this is a great kit.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 5 lety

      That's a good question. If you plan on running a lot of different traditional drill bits, than a drill is what you're looking for. Many drills offer a hammer feature, so if you're planning on going into concrete, you'll want a hammer drill. I'd say a hammer drill is the best all-purpose tool to have if you're only going to buy 1 thing. An impact is great if you're installing a lot of fasteners, like screwing together a deck. Hope this helps.

My husband hasn't had his chance but he will soon and I'm sure he'll be equally impressed. Batteries charge fast and, boy do these have power! The strange thing is, you state several times how you are a big man with large hands and these tools fit you perfectly. Well.. I'm a woman, not big, not big hands. I wear a medium in women's gloves and these tools fit ME perfectly. So, I ask you, how did they do that? I also suffer from carpal tunnel and radial tunnel. @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 4 lety +3

      Excellent question! I remember the first time I seen an impact driver and wondered why anyone would switch to that from a drill. I eventually bought one and haven't looked back when it comes to deck building and getting into tight spaces. If just faster and smaller in size and weight. The variable speed trigger works well for smaller size screws. I often only use the drill as a hammer drill and do most of my other stuff with the impact. Hope that helps answer your question.

And having one that can fasten things into concrete would be extra cool. so sounds like impact is smaller and faster, but only the regular drill did concrete. this is where I'm confused. If you're building a deck, you'll find the impact driver to work best. The drill driver works great for drill bits that are round on the end, not hex shaped. The drill is also smooth the entire way which works better for hole saws and forstner bits. I like having both, but find I use the impact the most.

      Thank you for the reply, what is frustrating is a different model numbers, they look the same but not. I thought the newest impact was the atomic, but the max XR seems to be the better one because of its 3 speeds and 1825 vs 1700 trq., is that right?
      Also I really don’t care about the battery, because I intend to buy the PowerStack for whatever I get. At least I think that will work. Will that out preform any battery I get with either the driver or impact?
      Lot of Q’s I know.

      I'm sure you'll be happy with it. It's nice having 2 different ones, especially if you have a drill bit in the one and a phillips bit in the other. I recently installed a screen door that required several pilot holes before screwing.

      I wonder if you have an earlier version? The lights on the impact are my favorite. They have a setting that stays on for an extended period. Perfect for a work light.

    Too bad, that the 20 V batteries just include 3 cells what brings them up to 12V .... wich you also measure on the outlet.

    Upgraded from an older 18v kit. czcams.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

    Jesus! I never thought he was gonna stop talking about what a light is for. Yeah got it buddy. 15 min video coulda been 3 min. And he Didn’t even explain what the symbols on the chuck meant or anything. At least we have a clear understanding of the purpose of a flash light.

    • @MarkThomasBuilder
      @MarkThomasBuilder  Před 4 lety +1

      Sorry, I was excited over how well the light works and that it can stay on for 20 minutes as a trouble light. I'll try and balance my review more next time.
