Catherine the Cathar supporters deceives Michael and viewers. The Cathars were not good. Cathar cosmology identified two opposing deities. The first was a good God, portrayed in the New Testament and creator of the spirit, while the second was an evil God, depicted in the Old Testament and creator of matter and the physical world. The latter, often called Rex Mundi ("King of the World"),was identified as the God of Judaism,] and was also either conflated with Satan or considered Satan's father, creator or seducer.They addressed the problem of evil by stating that the good God's power to do good was limited by the evil God's works and vice versa. Believer the body was evil they indulged in all sorts of vice. They believed when they thought they wre dying they would get to heaven by starving thenselves. They killed Christian clergy.
Can you cite sources for the claims in your last 3 sentences? Everything before that seems to check out in the brief research I've done but I cant seems to find anything about killing clergy or indulging in vice or starving themselves. I do agree however that the narrative is in line with the BBC's typical anti-Christian messaging with no context. I've never seen any presentation go into Cathar cosmology at all which is is comparable to Mormonism in its heresy.
