- 🔽Click More to Shop🔽 I am sharing how not to wear capri pants and why you should not wear capri pants. One of the trends we predict is not to wear capris in 2023. This is due to the fact that capris can be quite uncomfortable and restrictive and unflattering. Instead, cropped at the bottom would be good alternatives. These pants will be comfortable and stylish, and you'll be able to wear them year-round. If you do wish to wear capri pants there are some useful tips on how to style capri pants included.

I love Capris. They are comfy and I feel good wearing them…. So I’m gonna.
Capri's are back in style 2024
I’m 5’9” tall. I’m not worried about looking tall. Capris look better on my particular leg shape than cropped pants. Every body is different!
Im 5', I wear capris, they're just above my ankle, I love them. Capris, cropped, ankle grazer - these are only names given to shorter trousers, it's the length of your own legs and the garment length and fit that matters
Exactly. You are wearing ankle grazers as like me they don't come to your mid calf. They are great on you that way. I do mention that in the video. Its about ensuring the short trouser does not come to your mid calf.
@@Myover50fashionlife yes I agree
I think capris look great on a lot of women. When you're over 60 and you've passed your best before date wearing shorts capris are wonderful to go to. We don't want long pants that end above the ankle. They're too hot!
Short capris are ok, its the mid calf that is problematic primarily.
The mid calf on the models you show look fantastic. I am that size too and I wouldn't call my calf fat. I am too hot in the summer and most shorts are too short.
I don't wear shorts I'm 77 yrs. So I love capris, it's hot in Georgia
Yes I agree, the cropped pants, or ankle pants are too hot in the summer … I can’t wear shorts to work … and skirts don’t work in my job
I wear them and they look okie dokie! Yep!
I am 67. I like my capris. So what I like capris. Certainly I will wear them until they are worn out.
And then get some new ones! I'm over 70 and I love my capris 😊
Good for you!!!💕
I where capris, only because I'm 4 foot 11 and they come just above my ankle lol😂
I love capris. I avoid anything wide legged - just doesn’t suit me.
I actually like the outfit in the cutaway of the lady in a blue spot tee and white capris!
It shows her figure but is not modern at the moment.
@@Myover50fashionlife So what? These days anything goes- never has there been a better time to not be tied to wearing the same as everyone else !
I think capris are cool and comfortable. I wear them with Birkenstocks or sneakers. And a long slim t-shirt. Not frumpy at all. I also wear them occasionally rolled up to just under my knee. It’s been very hot and humid and I see women dressed in an assortment of styles to stay cool. I’ve seen elderly women wearing shorts and tank tops and they do not look attractive. But who cares? Wear what makes you happy and comfortable. I do.
Good for you! I don’t know who makes all these rules 💕💕💕
Who makes all these rules? We can wear whatever we want, live and let live!
People that don't like capris. I wear them all the time.
I wear them anyway
Ive listed some blouse options to wear with them
I really wish people would stop saying not to wear capris. Mine come just below the knee -- not at the widest part of my leg -- and the same length as skirts, which no one complains about. It's way too hot here to wear long pants. However, I agree about the proportions -- i wear a tucked in top with mine. However, I wear dresses mostly when it's really hot.
In hot and humid weather a woman might choose a capri over a skirt if her thighs stick and rub together. That can be very uncomfortable, and even painful. With the availability of slip shorts this problem can be managed, but even then they add a hot nylon layer.
Exactly! I personally hate wearing a dress or skirt for this reason.
capris are so fun, and depending on the shoe I do wear different lengths. at 64 I still like edgy outfits and have worn doc martin boots with capris in the fall. even higher boots can work with the right cut. I guess we need to feel good about our style no matter what. I never did resort to dated outfits and will be wearing my docs for as long as I can.
I wear moto boots so you will fit right in on my channel. And the good news for this winter is they are going to be on trend too, with trousers rolled up above the boot. You are ahead of the curve. But it does sound like you aren't wearing the dreaded cut the calf in half length.
You see so many capris for sale everywhere. If they are so unflattering for women, why do the designers keep making/selling them?? I do not wear them myself because I am shorter and they do hit me mid calf. I would rather wear Bermuda shirts. You see tunics for sale all over the internet as well.
Yes I talk about that in the video. They are cheap to make and people buy them but that doesn't mean they are flattering .
I have never worn them. I am 5’2 and I think they look like old lady outfit…even though I am 68 I look modern and up to date…❤
I’m about your age and replaced the gray, dingy, hanging hair with a good haircut and a lighter color. Attractive, fresh makeup and jewelry at the ears to brighten up gray undertones.
My wardrobe matches my body type and unique proportions.
I agree with you and much prefer the above the ankle look. ❤
I don’t know how I arrived on this video as a 30yo- but I didn’t realize capris are so stigmatized!!! I am in solidarity with all of you who refuse to ditch the capris. (I love mine hehe) I think we can make them work if we are strategic! I love the Audrey Hepburn look mentioned!!
I love them
I agree, i wear cotton dresses, more flattering and so much cooler.
NOT more flattering on all body types, however.
I think your hair looks lovely. I grew mine out during Covid and I think grey hair looks authentic. It’s so refreshing not having that stripe every three weeks. In Australia and in England grey hair is not considered aging if anything it’s classy.
Yesss blouses look good with any trousers
I have an outdoor event this summer. It's going to be 90° (32c) and I was thinking of wearing capris. It's a casual wear whatever you want event. My mother always told me to dress appropriately for every event but always try to dress just a cut above. Is how she said it. So I'm searching for 'are capris in style anymore'. Turns out they are. And then your video popped up. Thanks so much! I just browsed your channel and you now have a new subscriber. I think I'm going for a lightweight maxi dress.
Thank you. Yes they are back but I have not seen how they can be worn in a flattering way yet.
Thanks to this, and a few other channels, I have discovered that I am the Queen of Frump! My summer wardrobe is filled with capris, tunics and velcro sandals. Not to mention all my handbags are Baggalinis with lots of pockets and zippers. I was blissfully ignorant, although I did notice while on vacation that I seemed to have a similar look to many other 65 year olds and it was not flattering and too much like a uniform. I just pushed those thoughts out of my head. Besides, I'm not fat and that helps. Anyway, for some reason, I keep watching and learning and I notice I'm making some slightly better choices lately for balance and color and I put some of my "non-smart" clothing to the side. I'm not ready to buy new stuff yet, but I'm thinking maybe I won't just wear what I have for the rest of my life, which was the plan.
If you live what you wear, wear it!
Thank you, fully enjoyed! Hoping you get to 100k
I must admit my mother in law loves tunic tops and suits them very well she 85 and looks elegant in them with black trousers she buys them of qvc and they are very popular she is tall. Im 5.9 and if i dint watch ankle grazer can look like Capri all most on me. But i much prefer ankle grazers any day very flattering on a taller woman
I agree 100%
I guess I prefer shorts and used to prefer capris to skirts because my thighs get sweaty in a dress. I know there are long legged briefs now, but didn’t know about them until recently. I have turned several of my capris into shorts with a 7-9” inseam. But being a child of the ‘60s I see ankle pants and crops and think of them as high water pants. Longer lengths will always be more slimming.
I'm laughing about myself standing in a ditch 😀😀😀😀😀😀
Hi Anna Louise loveeeee my capris but they do look good I'm 5foot 3 except in a ditch
Thank you, Anne Marie. I've never liked capris even when they were fashionable (were they ever?). I hope you hit your mark and get your just reward.
When I was heavy, I hated skirts and dresses because my legs chafed and it was very painful. Shorts or pants were more comfortable. Now that I lost weight, I wear a lot of skirts and dresses.
With all due respect, I love wearing capris and probably will for years to come. I am 5'9" and wear capris with tunic length tops. They are comfortable, allow some leg to show but remain respectable and hide any blemishes on my legs (spider veins etc). I'm not sure that it is the length of capris that should be of concern but rather the fit of them as well as the top you wear with them. There is nothing attractive about seeing an older woman wearing capri leggings and a short top that only goes to the waist.
We all know our own proportions and silhouettes and what suits us.
I’m sure that you look great in your Capri pants.
I totally get you. Though I’m over the capri and tunic. For me , it was nice while it lasted. The length…so does that apply to skirts and dresses falling to your “fattest part” of your leg? So someone like me with big legs and knees should expose those legs and knees? I’m wrapping my head around higher shorts but truthfully, I’m not 100% comfortable with the bigger knees being exposed but I’m working on it. As well as tucked blouses (they work better than T shirts). As far as skirts and dresses…I love ‘em too but I have to wear an undergarment that is tight. And I prefer to wear long to the ankle.
Capris are for me hideous and ageing....all my frumpy friends wear them with hideous patterned tunics regardless of their body shape / height...always cracks me up when we have summer coffee meet ups, seems they all shop at the same shop😂😂
For those of us that already have them , doing our housework and. Gardening in them, so as they don't go totally to waist ...certainly not when out socially gathering though
I like both but yess like ankle or above v nice I agree
Hello Joanna 😀
I loved capris but realized last year how old they made me look. So all gone or made into shorter shorts. I did remove Bermuda shorts from the wardrobe too. I would love more skirts and dresses but find the fabrics and styles here in Canada just not right. Have you done a video on skirt styles and dresses? Thanks for your videos!
I don’t get the wide-legged, mid-calf capri pant. They are SO popular with women “of a certain age” that the shopping channels in the US continually sell them. Not only are they not flattering on 99% of the women, it also is a tell-tale clue on how old the woman is (she’s at least over 50).
Women can still stay cool and modest in a skirt, regardless of her size or the shape of her legs. They make slips that are like shorts to wear under skirts that are airy and cover the thighs, and self-tanners act as makeup for your legs without worrying about body/leg makeup rubbing off on chairs or other items. I have long, shapely legs thanks to years of skating, hiking and step aerobics, but the only way that I can still get away with wearing shorts and casual skirts without pantyhose is to use a self-tanner to hide the signs of aging in my legs.
Thanks for these tips, I want to wear more skirts.
I see so many heavy women wear what appears to be a uniform. Capris, a top hitting at the widest part of their hips, comfort shoes or sneakers. The most unflattering look imaginable. I am slim, and would never wear the uniform. Heavy or slim, not an attractive look. How about wearing Capris with high Boots or using them around the house of gardening? Trousers that are ankle length are more flattering. The wider leg Capri look like a midi skirt and would look nice on a tall person. A tanish or skin tone sandal gives an elongating effect with tight or loose trousers.
How do you feel about shorts? Not short shorts, reasonable length shorts?
I love them. If you look at my July capsule video you will see some outfits i wore using shorts.czcams.com/video/Py14G-CjE5g/video.html
I like your optimistic measurements…..you just need to tell the shops…lol
Hi, great video. I am guilty! They are really useful for casual wear, walking etc. but will take note of suggestions if I do wear them. Like other viewers I have some veins which are unsightly!
For me, dresses are not cooler! Sweaty skin against sweaty skin, dear? No. And who wants to sit with knees plastered together in the heat?
I love capris. I'm 70 and all about comfort! I personally don't care what others think of my clothing. I dress for me! I'm 70😂oh yeah!🤗
I figured out how to wear capris: cut them off above the knee and use the fabric you lopped off to make cargo pockets on each side. Then wear them for gardening or while babysitting the grandchildren.
I do make a point of wearing a very slim fitting top with slim fit (&Tapered legs) jeans when doing yard work with a chain saw as loose fitting clothing is more likely to get caught in machinery and tree branches. so it is a safety measure
Not many people see me doing this (a couple drove by and waved at me yesterday when I was working out by the road, and sometimes there are other people at the landfill when I am unloading,) and I try not to run any additional errands when I am doing that but it happens.
Funnily while she was talking I was thinking the same thing. Cut ‘em shorter. I’m going to take that advice. I only have two left in my wardrobe.
Hello, can you make a video about your belts, how best to wear them or what your favorite belts are and how you like to wear them? Best regards
I think one of the other reasons that capris look so dated is that they are fitted. Skinny fit trousers and jeans are quite dated as everything is much looser these days. If you want to wear something that ends at that part of your leg then I think a cropped wide leg culotte looks much more up to date and is a lot cooler to wear as they're not tight to your leg. However I think they then need a block heeled, platform or wedge as if you wear them with flat shoes then make you look stumpy and dumpy!
I find the length issue is the same with dresses and skirts . I always try to avoid that wide point on my calf
We wear capris because it is hot out, and we don’t want to wear shorts. I neither want to be forced to wear shorts, or to see other people’s varicose veins or ugly tattoos, even worse. I do not wear them with sneakers. I hate tunics, but I am not a clothing manufacturer! Tell them!
Me too!
Invest in wide legged linen pants....so easy to wear...cool and so much more stylish!
Im looking for a link for the cute white pants wide leg with belt
The belts are available on Amazon here amzn.to/3pUoGQH USA Canada and Europe. The trousers are old too but these are similar bit.ly/3Qa97yJ. If you are in the UK let me know as you will need other links.
$210!? No way! Thanks anyway for your help
I have very thin calves and knobby knees (lucky me, huh?). I actually would like my calves to look fuller! So should I still steer clear of capris? I really feel my knees are better covered.
Excellent information. I have learned SO much since I started watching your channel. Thank you!
Excellent video. Love all the tips.
I agree totally about capris. I never thought they looked flattering. Regards L🌺🌺
Tunics are cringey and I got rid of them a few years ago. I thought they were hiding things but they just made me look shorter and heavier than I was. But I never wore capris 😂.
I'm with you - I dislike capris!
What makes a dress/skirt that hits your legs at the fullest part of your legs different from capris?
skirts and dresses do have the same issue but becuase they are not close to the skin and there is distance its not so noticible.
Theose are jusst ill fitting tii long shorts, Capris should cover the calf. I never wear skirts. I hate them. Still, excellent advice.
Sorry, I love capris.
Never ever wear them!
On many people they look better than shorts.
Got to have fab legs to wear them . ..?..!
The worst part of my body is my legs and ankles. Capris are a no, no for me. Ankle grazers are okay though.
Tunics😀😀😀😀😏😏
When I see someone in capris, I always think it is a statement by the wearer that they just don’t care. This is fine if that is true, but the wearer needs to realize this is what they are projecting.
Yes, they are dressing for comfort and don't care what they look like
I think the same thing when I see women with gray hair. They have given up and don't care.
I fold my capris up so they hit right under my knees .
Great. That’s one of my suggestions in the video as you would have seen. I’m glad it works for you.
I do the opposite...I realize that this video is from summer of 2023 but for summer of 2024 capris are big again! Not only capris but wide legs (which are very cool when it's hot out) are also big this season. Skinny pants are out. I like a wide leg cropped bottom. I think they look good and are so comfortable. I hate dresses and skirts though they are also big this season but to me a dress that comes below your knees is no different than a capri or crop. A dress can also make you legs look short. ...So what? Nothing like having the upper thighs rub against each other when it's hot & humid. Skin against skin. Of course one can get the skimmer undies which solve that problem but add another layer.
As for shoes I prefer a platform sandal. It gives me some height and I feel that a very thin flat shoe is more dated and old looking.
I'm not fooling anyone about my age. I'm going to be 70 in a few days (how did that happen?!!!) but at least I have no gray which to me is very aging.
Yes they are back in. I’ve spoken about them in recent videos.
Mmmmm yess making me cringe too flowery awful
Capris make you look like you were in a boating accident and lost the bottoms of your pants which result in stumpy looking legs. They make you look poor, like you can’t afford to replace the pants after your boating accident. 😂
They are terrible.
I love capris. Everyone should goog- - Audrey Hepburn in capris. That’s the way to wear them. ❤ -30-
