    You are my go-to resource! I’m 5’ and in my 50s. I love cropped trousers. I have learned from you about wearing high waisted trousers. I bought a pair of nice high waist jeans yesterday and there is a big difference in how I look in them versus mid-rise jeans. Also purchased a pair of boot cut high waist jeans, but from the charity shop, just to try them out. OMG. What a difference. More flattering. And today, I’ve gone with tone on tone deep nude pink high waist shorts with soft pink t and a deep vintage rose blazer. Tonal colours are so much better for me than colour block. Thank you so much for your wisdom.
    You’re awesome!

      I'm 4'10" so I just don't do cropped pants! Also have a very short torso, so I feel like high-waisted pants emphasize that and look terrible on me. I'm curious about this 1/3 rule. Is this something well known in the fashion world??

    Appreciate your videos, Chi. It’s difficult to be petite and overweight and find suitable clothing pieces. Your advice is vey helpful and it makes sense the way you explain it. Time after time I see ‘extended’ size references but it’s very limited, maybe an XXL, which is not the same as plus sizes. Would love to see something from you for petite plus advice. The options are often too young (thin fabrics) or too matronly. Not giving up.

      Sometimes department stores, online, have more choice in sizes, like Petite Plus. Nowadays, they have hundreds more times the number if items online as in their bricks-and-mortar stores. I like Macy’s, they always have Petites, I can usually make Petite L or XL work well on me.

    Hi Chi, I'm Eirini and I live in Crete, an island of Greece. l 've been following you for a long time and I like and use all the tricks you' ve given. I teach mathematics in schools and I'd like to mention the trick of thirds. You talk about the golden ratio(number phi) which has been used in art and life since ancient times in my country and later all over the world. I got very excited when I heard if from you not only as a mathematician and a Greek as also as a woman who takes care of her appearance. Thank you especially for it and for all your advice!! I came upon your channel a couple of months or so ago, and have since binged tons of your videos😁! I just had to leave a comment to tell you how awesome you are! I have learned SO much from you! Your truly unique content and amazing gift for teaching and communicating makes things that have been such a challenge for me in the past seem perfectly simple. I find myself constantly saying "how did I NOT see that before??" You just have an incredible eye for what's flattering for us short ladies and I've never seen a video of yours that I didn't come away from having learned something new that I actually apply in my everyday life!
    And so....
    I want to thank you so, so much for the gift of your videos!! I just turned 34 and have struggled with my self esteem and disliking my body basically my whole life, and had pretty much given up on expressing my style through fashion--something that I used to LOVE doing--because it seemed like nothing I like looked good on me. I'm 5'4" (right on the edge of petite) and have a large chest (34G) and not really overweight but definitely extra weight in the middle (yay apple shapes🍎!)I resigned myself to clothing that I felt was boring simply because it was flattering, and it was too frustrating to try and find clothing that I both loved AND flattered my figure. Recently, in large part because of your videos, I've been inspired again to try and find clothes that make me feel like...well...me, and that I feel flatter and empower me, and thanks in large part to you, i have been able to do just that! Yesterday, for the first time in 5+ yrs, I tried on a bunch of new clothes (keeping your advice in mind) and was able to find so many things that made me feel beautiful and actually flattered me. I felt like ME again! I was almost in tears! I know that may seem silly to some but if you've had difficulties with self esteem you probably understand. I apologize for this novel of a comment that I'm writing, I just wish I could find the words to tell you how much you've helped me! All I can say is THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for sharing your fierce, classy style and amazing knowledge with us!❀❀❀
    Edit: ok that was even longer than I thought, I apologize! I just had to get all that out! If you actually read through I so appreciate it!

    I would add this one outfit to never, ever wear: capri pants (ending at mid-calf) and a tunic top covering the butt. Guarantees you will look 6” shorter, heavier, older and really out style! This 90s look is terrible on nearly everyone under 6 feet tall and over 110 lbs. “Mature” brands push this look all the time, don’t fall for it!

    I have a long torso which makes my legs appear short. My legs, especially calfs are muscular. 5’3 and 105 lbs.
    However, I am finding that the short cropped jackets are not very flattering on my body. They seem to reach just above the beginning of my bottom.
    I find a longer blazer type more admirable.
    Please consider addressing this problem in a future video. I loved the peplum flower-like top you wore.
    That type of top would be flattering on my frame, simply bc it has the band at the bottom.

    Unfortunately, at age 61, I’ve never yet found a pair of pointed-toe shoes that don’t just absolutely kill my wider toes. I’m only a Medium, or C width, but they’re never more than half the width of my actual toes, especially in cheaper ones, although I always buy genuine leather, there’s no way to double the width! Still looking.

    OK, beautiful Lady, I have a question...do you think that if the pants and the shoes are of the same color, so, it will elongate the legs, even if there is a visible skin distance in between them? Thank you for your videos! You are very professional and informative! Love u!!!

    • @PetiteDressing

      Thank you Zhanna! In the winter, I'd prefer to cover the gap, which is the most leg elongating. In the summer though, I have noticed nude shoes with short dark pants can work better than dark pants with dark shoes but showing the gap.

    I hate wearing pants with a too-long leg at home, but I like a longer leg for going out, to wear with a low heel or wedge shoe. If I really love a pair of affordable pants for both home and out, I get two pairs and shorten them to two different inseams. H&M has some great knitted pants right now that are unhemmed, so I just wash and dry them and then cut them to the length I want. If the fabric requires hemming, they will come hemmed, so those I shorten and finish with a proper sewn hem. I’m buying these unhemmed ones as they come out in different colors, they are so comfy for at home, save so much work hemming, and are ok to go out in, with proper no-VPL underwear. I got two pairs in my go-to color, white and just one in some other colors. Denim skirts, shorts and jeans can also be cut and left unhemmed, so long as they are proper, woven denim, and not those knit pajama-type denim-look jeggings.

      Thank you Hrissa- if you have bigger chest, you can wear cropped pants with a peplum top, which defines your waist, but is not too short.

    My first and only foray into cropped pants was wide leg pants and they cut my leg length so bad, I only wore them a few times and at the end of the summer they went in the "donate" pile. But after watching this video, I might venture out and get a slim leg pair of cropped pants and try again...

    Could you please give ideas how to dress a black silk slip dress? Thanks 😊

    • @PetiteDressing
      @PetiteDressing  Pƙed 3 lety +1

      Great question! The easiest is to wear on its own with strappy sandals. You can also add a black belt with buckle to add some dimension (but caution with belt if you have any midsection concern at all!). If you want to layer- they can look amazing with black jacket or blazer, but be selective with the length to make sure the proportion is right!

      Very good point! You can try wearing a looser hip length top with a fitted crop pants!

    I'm 5'3.5 a taller petite and I realized months ago that I'm a petite. My inseam is 27.5 but I think my legs are average for my height as people don't notice my height. I love the advice. Sometimes I can get away with regular cut pants that aren't petite, but they must have a shorter inseam or be cropped. I can't find shorts that fit me as I have wider hips for my height and a smaller waist, so I use biker shorts. Are there shorts that you'd recommend that help with that issue and don't drown a petite body?

      @PetiteDressing  Pƙed 3 lety +1

      Hi Julia- if your goal is to balance wider hips, go with straight cut or A line shape shorts. They do not need to be very long but the silhouette is more important. I just did a video on best shorts for petites- check it out if you haven't watched it yet!

    I know what you mean about cropped pants. Bought some in petite dept. last year and they are still too long. I think I need to hem them as I am also 5 ft 2.

    I’m not sure I got the main message about crap pants. Especially about craft pants. Are they a type of crap pants? The crop lens is already reducing the length of our legs. And if you try crap pants they already reduce our legs so don’t add backing pans. That won’t work because it has volume.

    Cropped pants are the best, the only pants I don't need to have them cropped are the cropped pants. Their lengths are just right!

    Skinny jeans that go past my ankle work.
