Many decades ago, I got a catalog in the mail with a cover photo that still speaks to me. I think it was Neiman Marcus. It was three women, all wearing the same monochromatic outfit in different colors. The outfit was matching wool trousers, silk shirt, and longish cashmere cardigan, one lady wearing it in beige, one in pale gray, and one in ivory. I thought, that's what I want to look like. (Coming out of a decade of polyester double-knits, they looked like angels to me.) I save looks on Pinterest now that give me that same feeling. I don't really care if it isn't everyone's cup of tea. It makes me happy.
I'm 68 and to me, I've been a Quiet Luxury lady since my early twenties. To me it's a life style rather then a fashion trend. I love simple minimalist clasic style. I still have pieces I purchased in my twenties that I wear today and they are right on trend. But with that said I've never followed trends. I'd much rather have quality over quantity. I'm not wealthy nor do I pretend to be. I.just know that dressing like this makes me feel happy and I know that I'm presenting my best self. I remember my mother always looking stylish and put together. I guess that is were I got it from. She'd never leave the house without a scarf,.her clasic handbag or putting her red lipstick on. Ty for your time putting this lovely video together. I greatly appreciate it.

It really depends on my mood, sometimes I need quiet luxury; but other times I need a little more oomph in my outfits. I have never liked big logos on bags or belts. I agree that your own personality comes into play when choosing your individual style. Personally I feel one look / style would box me in too much. I like trying different styles much more!
Women that are very thin can do quiet luxury the best. You pulled it off very well in the photos you showed.
I do like the quiet luxury trend but will disagree with you about high ponytails. They can look very classy. I have seen them worn with evening wear with a few wisps of hair on the sides pulled out to soften the look and a pair of small dangle earrings. Very elegant. I agree that one you showed was not classy.
One thing you showed as quiet luxury which I disagree was a photo of 2 women holding their white wine glass by the bowl. I was taught in etiquette school always hold it by the stem. Your hand will warm up the wine. Just my 2 cents!
I like quiet luxury style, but I love color and I don’t look good in beige.
You don’t have to wear all beige to have a quiet, luxury style. Try wearing all one color, all red or blue all navy… that’s what I do😊
Who said you have to wear beige? White, ivory, rich camel, traditional blues from medium to midnight, burgundy, deep red (as opposed to bright red), black, or gray are all old-money colors, too. Pale pink, medium pink, pale blue. Browns and rich rust, too, especially for casual wear. Quiet luxury is high quality paired with low-key, classic styles and colors. If you know, you know.

Thank you all for the tips. I usually wear one color because I’m 5’4” and want to appear taller and thinner. I do wear color, but I thought it might have to be beige/ taupe colors mostly and I don’t look healthy in those colors.

I have recently seen a number of women wear head to toe beige in loose luxury knits and it is out of character and quite startling. They seem to be mushrooming.
The overall minimalist and effortless style of dressing with quality classic pieces has always appealed to me but I still manage to convey my own personality through print and colour palette and silhouette.
Well, that's the point of the old money esthetic, isn't it, NOT to express your individuality with your clothes? The purpose is to blend in, not to stand out. It's anti-fashion. Looking fashionable, or stylish, or anything else that stands out is contrary to the point, barring something special like a charity gala.
This is the simple natural classic style I've worn for 45 years. Maybe it's now regarded as 'luxury' because its getting harder to find simple well made natural fibre clothes at a reasonable price. 20 years ago you could spot M&S knitwear in charity shops because it looked like new still. Now it looks great in the store, but doesn't last.

Quiet luxury trend made me change my love for floral print lol. I stopped buying anything floral and bought more no print classic items. I also stopped using canvas tote and bought structured leather smaller handbags this year.

My favourite outfits on you were white jeans black top black jacket black shoes as well as white jeans striped tee and camel blazer. So maybe you are leaning towards quiet luxury. I will be copying these looks. My role model by the way has always been Jackie Kennedy . Great video.

Quiet luxury is buying excellent lifetime pieces you wear for your lifetime. I laugh, I still use my LV stuff from my 30s (many many years ago) but you can clearly see they are vintage. Nothing says you have to be neutral. I'm not sure where that came in. Its all the quality of the pieces and the subtle coherence of the items you choose.
Just to say, a high ponytail isn't tacky if it's done correctly. The photo you showed is a fright; that isn't a high ponytail done correctly. The Princess of Wales often wears a high ponytail; that's how it's done. But not everyone can look good doing it. It takes a pretty face, because there's nothing to soften whatever you have, good or bad.
It's more the face lift than the pony tail. maybe its a UK thing but it can be like trailer trash here sometimes. It's spoken about in that way too.

I'm 69 and grew up with the original Barbie in the Jacky-O and Audrey Hepburn generation to look up to. However, I Love the outfit you call "grunge" and I wear a lot of that as well. Good taste can make any style or outfit look classy.

I was just looking at your older photos and wondered if you have considered adding a bit of warmth to the colour of your hair? The honey colour looked very pretty on you - not that you don't look pretty now.
I used to as you saw. I went grey in lockdown and have enjoyed the freedom of not having it done. In this video I think I’d added purple shampoo to my wash so it looked cooler than usual but I quite liked the change. I’m looking for wash out temporary colour that will last say 6 weeks but don’t know what to buy.

Variety is good isn't it. Hence your boxes you get. Im still gettinc SF and Lookiero here but they are a bit boring these days. I only keep one item generally now.

"Quiet luxury" is pretty meaningless, it's really just classic dressing - nothing new at all. Plenty of people already dress like that.
