THAT was a lot of work! Hope you enjoy the update, and thanks as always to our amazing supporters and Patreons! www.patreon.com/FanatikBuilds
the way forward is a small, sturdy, fixed bench and vice. you'll never look back. Heuer 180, if required, steel not cast and no play...
I've said it before on this channel, I love how the lack or real estate creates some amazing ingenuity and in this case with very basic tools. 👍🤘
Steve! It's going to take me a bit to get used to your new name! 😉 Thanks my friend, I really appreciate the kind words. 🙏
@@FanatikBuilds Hey Michael, the name change is to do with a bet, my avatar is now a tattoo I have and Walt Jabsco is the name of the guy in the avatar, its connected to the band The Specials, you may know them but you are a younger man. 🤘
I was going to write the same comment, but you took the words right of my keyboard! I’m so impressed with everything you come up with and what you can achieve with the limited resources you have.
Since we haven't had much from Bad Obsession over the months its nice to see someone fulfilling our bracket addiction. Cheers from Vancouver 🍻
For a while I thought I was watching Project Binky
@@johnks6733 yes absolutely. The hero we need. I hope Nick is OK
I particularly appreciated the CAD template.
Bad obsession ? Are they still alive ? My no 1 replacement is retropower, their weekly videos are amazing and the cars they create are as well, Utah, Churchill..hmmmmm
Mind-blowing, how does this channel not have a million subscribers yet?
100k would be pretty nice as a start. 😅 Please tell some friends about it John, I'm glad you enjoy our antics!
I was about to type the same thing! The ingenuity on this channel is always so impressive!
I can tell you why, it's the shitty algorithm. It wants regular short videos which have a big watch spike. It doesn't promote channels with not so regular releases.
Its a real shame as this channel it top class. From the production quality to the content. It's one I Never miss.
@@rompdude Precisely! However, I'd be more than happy to watch THIS content more regularly!! But quality takes time!! 😄
Its because he doesnt release videos nearly frequently enough.
Nik Blackhurst would be proud of your brackets!
Richard would have something to say about it or even perhaps have some funk to get out of it.
Honestly, this channel is on par with the likes of project binky but get a fraction of the views. I love the storytelling in these videos.
Oh I don’t know. I have every confidence we’ll see him actually finishing this car 😂.
Was also thinking along the same lines, this car is begining to rival Binky for home brewed brackets and panels lol, Nick Blackhurst will be so proud.
@@usernamesreprise4068 Yes, I was thinking the same thing.
I'm really impressed with your metal fab in such a basic shop!
Thanks man, I try my hardest at least! 😅
Great work and worthy of the Project Binky bracketry hall of fame. The boys from North England should be very proud of you!!
North?!?!?!
Please.
Just gotta put on some water for tea and grab a couple biscuits
Must be incredibly satisfying to be building this with your father. Getting closer to the completed car
It's amazing to have this opportunity with him! Once in a lifetime 🙏❤️✌️
Your attention to detail on every part you manufacture is satisfying to see the finished product. This build will look incredible no doubt. I enjoy watching you bang out parts that look like they came from some huge machine shop.
Really appreciate it man, it's good to keep pushing myself to grow! 😊🙏
Between you and Throttle Stop Garage the level of home shop engineering is totally amazing!
Patience, creativity, craftsmanship, humour, humility, and a dash of Binky. You do exceptional work in a very personable way. Congratulations on all your achievements, steel and otherwise.
That means a lot to me Dave, thank you! 🙏
it might be your grandkids that drive it but this is some of the best engineering i have seen , anywhere .
Haha, cheers Rodney!😉
I enjoy this channel more than Netflix!
Well done.
That's awesome, thanks James, means a lot!
For a minute I thought i was watching project Binki with all the bracket making. Jokes aside , love the build.
That's probably the biggest compliment someone can pay me, thanks Anthony!
Each video I am further amazed at your workmanship. As I have said before, you rate a 12 on a scale of 1 to 10.
I can not wait to see the performance specs once this is completed.
Cheers Matt, means a lot to me! 🥳✌
@@FanatikBuilds And the fact that you actually read and respond to comments. That means a lot to all of us! Thank you.
Another brilliant video, and yet again proof that planning, insight and manual work can overcome a lack of the latest computer programs or the most expensive new tools and machines.
Not that I would *complain* if I had a CNC plasma table for instance! ... 😉
Great to see more progress! The hope to see it in person some day
Cheers man! It would be great to take it to some shows when it’s done! 🫡✌️
The quality of what you are building is seriously impressive. Y'all definitely got your bracketeering badge in the boy scouts.
Haha, thanks man, appreciate it! 😉
Conquer the world really got me. 😂❤👍
You never cease to amaze me with your amazing fabrication skills! You will have created a true masterpiece when you are finished!!
I'll know where all the flaws are, but thanks Cliff! I look forward to that day! 😊✌️
Brilliant! Music, editing, content. After all this time on this project, you are still the #1 channel I like. Your editing on the beat makes for a smooth watch. Every little detail you do pays off. Simply well done!
Honoured to hold your #1 position! I'm glad all the effort is worth it 😊🙏
Nick would be proud of all the bracketry going on.
That means a lot, I hope so! 😊
The workmanship and attention to detail is fantastic ... and in a small one car garage to boot! How I would love to have the ability to do this and also maintain a spotless floor and work space. Guess a version 2 of me is required lol.
Means a lot man, thanks! Hardly spotless, but the organization has been improved quite a lot since we started! 😊
One word.. Skills. Wish I had some. Got a good laugh from the Monty Python reference.
All hail the algorithm, and, obviously, thanks for the episode.
#allhailthealgorithm !! Cheers man!
Glad to see someone mastering the art of making a bracket for a bracket!
Hope the BOM guys will publish new videos any time soon.
But I'm happy you're an (almost) equal substitute for the two "muppets from Shropshire". ;-)
It's been over a year and my Binky withdrawals are huge! 😅 Glad this series can help fill the hole for you somewhat!
Fantastic episode, as ever! I desperately want to see the finished car, but then again I'm enjoying the series so much...😃
Thanks Andrew! We're slowly getting there, but I'm glad you're enjoying the ride with us! 😊✌️
Your production and narration really set you apart! I really enjoy your stuff. Great stuff!
You are at Binky level with your brackets sir! Put the kettle on!
Really appreciate that man, glad you enjoy it! 🙏✌
I've been following your project for a long time and it occurred to me while watching this video that you can call this a GT6, but that's in sheet metal only. You have created your own unique creation here and wrapped it in a GT6 body. I am constantly impressed by how beefy you make all of your fabricated components. Some will probably accuse you of over engineering things, but your approach is going to provide you with a car that you would be willing and able to put a loved one behind the wheel and tell them to beat the hell out of it and have some fun.
Thanks DK, it wasn't our original intention, but that's what it's turned into! The GT6 was always known as the poor man's Jag ... and as the F-Type R is pretty much the modern day E-Type, our "GT6R" is what Triumph *could* do if they were to come back and make the GT6 today. At least that's how we look at it :) Cheers, really glad you have you following along!
It's good to see the new lathe coming in handy. 😁
Haha, we have started using it, just not in this episode! 😅
The MkII cable clamp was much better. :) Lovely workmanship as always!
Oh definitely, the Mk1 version was quickly determined to be for mock-up only! Thanks man, really appreciate it!
I wish I could watch this series forever. Thank you continuing to create something so special!
That means a ton to me Ned, thanks! 😊 So glad you're enjoying our little project - there's lots to come still, so hopefully you'll enjoy what's next! 👍
I went back and watched your RC videos from 10-years ago. You channel is 💰
That's awesome Rishi! Going back a bit for sure... still have the boat, it lives on top of my desk! 😊
Spoiling us with back-to-back episodes!
The #almightyalgorithm is forcing me to at least *try* to increase my upload frequency! We'll see how this goes! 😅 Cheers man!
@@FanatikBuilds All hail!
Some fantastic brackets there mate. Blackhurst would be proud ;)
Cheers my friend, that means a lot! 🙏✌️🇨🇦
This channel is SOO under rated! And all with tools that most have in their garage. I always enjoy your updates and can't wait to see this thing on the road
Cheers man! Hopefully the #almightyalgorithm will hear you and wake up! 😉✌️
Impressive fabrication skills! Old school compared to other YT channels with laser
Not that I would be opposed to having a CNC laser table! 😅 Cheers Chuck!
I keep thinking this build should be over by now but after seeing you fabricate these parts from scratch it puts things into perspective! Great job and love this build.❤
It all takes a lot of time! 😅 Cheers!
Super nice fab work 💯 all is tight but you making it work yes indeed....🙂👍🙏
Cheers man! Really appreciate that 🫡✌
Great job as someone who also has a small car I can appreciate how difficult it must be to cram all of that in there.
Cheers Eric, it's been a challenge! 😊✌️
both the UP and DOWN side to any project like this is
there IS nobody else to blame if you don't like the outcome!
best wishes and really great to see the progress in this project
along with the very clear love you have for it!
Haha, I can always blame the tools though right?! 😉 Cheers man, I appreciate that!
It's a crime this channel is at 49k subs. Should be 8 times that for the quality of work that's going into this car. Keep up the good work chaps.
100k would be a great start! ... heck, I'll take the 49k right now! 😅 Cheers Alex, really appreciate it man! ✌️
Fantastik Fanatiks ! Great job guys ! Back in the 70s there where two comedians called "Hinge And Bracket" !! I guess you two now get there title ! 😎😎🍻
Haha, that would make a good channel name! 😊 Cheers man!
You are a great designer and fabricator. I enjoy watching your process. Hang in there.
Thanks Scott, I really appreciate that! 🙏✌️
Prepare yourself, I've done a couple projects it's so exciting when the end of the tunnel comes into sight and a little anticlimatic when it's finished. Kinda miss all the garage time while contemplating where you're going to drive your newly finished dream to. I can't wait for the next installment.
We're honestly a ways off *that* Kevin! 😅 ...but it's nice to finally see a glimmer of light! I'll definitely be a bit sad when it's done, but it's been a long ride, and I'll be happy to start something new! Cheers and thanks for watching! ✌️
This build is epic, I kind of like it's been years, the skills are impressive, and it will be amazing when it's done, even if it's years away 😀
Really appreciate that Kris, thank you! ✌️
Fantastic as usual! with a great sense of humour you must have cornered the market on cutting and grinding discs!
Cheers John! We have had good luck with the Maximum discs from Canadian Tire ... a pack of 50 for ~$30 on sale is decent! 😊✌️
Brilliant ingenuity and engineering along with great story telling makes a fantastic video to watch, others could learn a lot from you. 👍
Really appreciate that man, I'm so glad the effort is worth it! 😊🙏
Your skills with the death wheel have increased immensely.
Cheers! It's fun pushing myself to keep learning!
Binky would be so proud! Brackets!
Means a lot Bruce, thank you!
That is some seriously excellent engineering work you're doing! Thank you for bringing us along for this amazing ride.
Really appreciate it man, thanks so much for following along with us!
A multipurpose bracket! Bravo!! And a gusset. Marvellous.
@7:03 is that two drills face to face as a LATHE?! 👏👏👏
Definitely multipurpose, that was fun!! 😅 Yes, may seem a bit silly when there was an *actual* lathe just 3ft behind us, but I didn't have a tailstock chuck at the time! 😬 Cheers man, really appreciate the support on Patreon!
Stellar as always. Even though I'm not a car guy, and I don't understand half the words you use, always look forward to watching every second of the next video :)
Cheers Mike, that's awesome to hear, I'm really glad you enjoy the series in spite of things - cars, houses, whatever... it's the story of building that matters! Very much appreciate the support and encouragement! ✌
So pleased to see you guys back at it - I love your work. You sure are an artiste with that angle grinder.
Means a lot man, thanks!
Always look forward to the next stage of your build. Very impressed to your pattern making skills, And then of course the finished product. Its the creation of what you need in the first place understandably what takes the time as well. keep up the good work guys Dave from Australia
Appreciate it Dave! You're absolutely right, like painting, 90% of the work in the in prep and planning and very little of the project actually makes usable content! All the best to ya from Ontario Canada 😊🇨🇦
Your tenacity amd skills are incredible . And you're doing this for "fun" ? There are many top flight panel shops that would be envious of your skills . Bloody marvelous ❤
Means a lot John, thanks! It's not always a picnic, but it's fun standing back and seeing everything tying together finally! 🥳
Superb work as ever Michael, you continue to inspire me!
Cheers David, that’s awesome to hear! Have a great weekend ✌️👍
Hi Mike! Beautiful fabrication as per usual! I too am squeezing parts into the Viva shell... I do have more space, but there's always much head scratching wondering how to go about things 😂 Hope you are all keeping well & you're not letting your Dad over exert himself. Cheers. Leigh.
Thanks buddy, it's been fun and there's more to cram in still! 😊 Hope you are keeping well Leigh!!✌️
a double dose of brackets today, the mosquito spent the day lightening a lotus elise windshield wiper bracket. and you spend the day building all kinds of brackets to bracket everything together. I just need BOM to drop a video and my weekend would be complete.
If BOM dropped a video my YEAR would be complete! 😅
Harry here from Toronto. Great work, just love this project. I must be great for you to look at your work!
Thanks Harry! 🇨🇦 It's nice seeing how far we've come, even if there's still a way to go!
You and Rat Rod Bob Builds. You both do simply amazing things with sheet steel and an angle grinder.
Cheers man, looking forward to building the new firewall and floor someday. Already started gathering some tools for that! 👍
Love it mate!!!! Yours is one of the few channels where I only watch it when I have the TV to myself, the house is quiet and I can sit there enjoying your video with a nice cuppa 😊 Brilliant fabrication as always and just think, with all the packaging you're doing you're pretty much making a modern production car but with everything designed in CAD to use very single mm. This is like the Canadian version of Binky 😊
Really appreciate it man! That's awesome to hear, I try hard to make these videos wide-screen worthy so glad that's how you view them! You've got it - basically aiming for a miniature Jaguar F-Type R as that's the modern day successor to the E-Type, and the GT6 was always the poor man's Jag! Hopefully it will all work out in the end 😅 Cheers, that means a lot!
Dude your hand skills are amazing 👍🏻 not to mention your mechanical brain 🙃
Really appreciate that man, it's fun seeing what can be done with basic tools!
Just incredible as always. Love watching the progress on this project.
I love watching this build. It reminds me of when I worked in aviation.
Aviation QC is next level stuff, we have some history of that in my family. Means a lot to me that this reminds you of it! ✌️ Cheers!
Superb and imaginative manufacturing. Great stuff
Root canals are a blast. I do them all the time!
A triumph of brackets. Excellent..
Hey Mike. Great touches to weave this little beauty together. One of my all time favorite looking cars with a much better power plant. Can't wait to see you roast the tires off of this thing. Coming from a guy who has a tire budget of his own in his house. Really enjoying the content with small bits from Pops. I dropped a 302 into a 240Z back in the 70's and it was insanely fast. Thank you.
Cheers David, really appreciate the kind words and glad you're enjoying it! The tires may be old-ish when she finally hits the road, so I supposed a tiny smoke show could help resurface them... 😉 for safety purposes you understand!
The throttle body is a cam profile, look at a compound bow that archers use. A roller wheel would eliminate the wear on the bowden cable at this point. More complication but it may be worth it in the long run. The bracketry and detailing is complex, and you don't have an R&D dept. as far as I'm aware! Amazing! Put a new workmate on your Xmas wish list and one that is taller - I'm thinking of your back huddled over all the time... Great stuff, and complex - I will need to watch it a second time to take it all in!
A few others have mentioned similar thoughts... looks like a version 3.0 may be necessary! 😅 Yes I've been wanting to do something about the workmate for years now... my back is not happy with it already! Just a matter of figuring out what we can replace it with while maintaining workspace... 🤔 Cheers Bob, thanks!
Wow, great work! Got to love making brackets.
Life would just feel incomplete without a good bracket montage! 🥳
You had me at Forward Facing Gusset...
Attention to detail as always , great job young man 😎😎🤘🤘
Cheers Karl, always appreciate hearing from you! 😊✌️
Great work and another great video. I patiently wait for each new video.
Congratulations..since binky has been finished.. you may have the opportunity to carry the pennant..
Carry on
I *wish* Binky was finished! It's been a year with no update ... last I heard, Nik was fiddling with some gauges! 😅 Cheers Peter, it means a lot!
Quality work. Quality video. Look forward to the next installment.
Appreciate it Iain, thank you!
Man, it's really coming together nicely!
Cheers dude! ✌️🇨🇦
I love this series. Hopefully you can keep it up!
Trying our best to! 😊✌️ Cheers man!
Your fabrication skills and quality sure has become professional since you started on this project 9 years ago. It seems that the 2 year projects always last 10 years.
Thanks Eugene, I'm glad that things have improved somewhat ... imagine if they hadn't! 😅 We actually bought it 10 years ago this past Sunday, so oops, looks like it'll take a bit longer than that! 😉 Cheers
If there's a Canadian equivalent to SEMA or World Of Wheels, you need to go to it & set up videos of what you've done! Your work is amazing! You're on par with Mike Finnegan, except it's just YOU & a 1 car garage with not near the tools. Not even taking anything away from Finn.
We don't have a lot of big shows up here, but when the car's a bit further along, we'll have to take it to some for sure! Cheers Vince, that means a great deal to me!
It’s easy to understand why the videos take so long in between, however, when you consider the amount of work involved, it’s ok. You achieve the same results as Bad Obsession motor sport, but without a lathe and a milling machine and a lot less space. I don’t know if they follow you, but they should, you’re basically brothers! You make me proud to be Canadian…
Cheers Alain! 🇨🇦 Don't know about that, but I try my hardest anyway! 😊 They do know about the Project, but I've never had them comment here... it's ok though, they're probably busy being wizards on some racecar somewhere! 👍 Really miss the updates on Binky.
Great work as always. I bolted my vise to a 2x6 and then I can clamp that in my workmate.
Nice one! I'd need a quick release 2x6 ... as that would create issues with storage between use sadly!
@@FanatikBuilds All you need is a piece about 6-8” long. It really doesn’t add much bulk to the vise when it’s not in the workmate.
Much awaited, much appreciated excellent work as always from you.
Thank you Marcus, means a lot!
So glad that you put off conquering the world until another episode!! If you had included it in this one it would have been overdoing it!!😁
Keep meaning to get around to that one... maybe after the next couple episodes... we've got a car to build! 😉
Canada’s answer to Project Binky keeps on rolling along at record pace! Great to see a new video. I was thinking that if you had a CAD repository of all this work, with all the custom components in there, it could be a valuable resource either for maintaining this car in the future or to sell to other enterprising folks looking to replicate the car.
Here's a business idea, we'll just scan the whole car and 3D print copies! 😉 Seriously though, it's a valid point, a lot of the cardboard templates have long since been recycled ... taking some photos with dimensions before everything gets painted wouldn't be a bad idea. Cheers Matt, always appreciate hearing from you!
Great job guys. Can't wait for the next one. Top fabbing!
Thanks man! 🥳✌️
Can't wait to see you take this out for a drive, very cool project.
Looking forward to that day!
Incredible as always.
Absolutely love this build I may have just binge watched the whole build for the third time I really like seeing how you and your old fella have developed your skills and ways of doing stuff. I would also point you to a channel I watch regularly called fitzee's fabrications he is building a pretty cool v8 corolla
That's awesome, thanks for the support Stevo! So glad you enjoy the project✌️ Appreciate the heads up about Fitzee, there are so many channels that don't get CZcams's attention... I'll check him out when I get the chance. 👍 Cheers!
Nicely done. Always tidy work with you guys.
Appreciate it man!
Amazing work as always ....down to the enth degree 😉
Thanks!
Really appreciate the super thanks Paul! So glad you're enjoying the project! 🙏✌️
Okay now I am beginning to believe you two are relatives of Nik Blackhurst from Bad Obsession Motorsports / project Binky fame. Nik is the king of custom brackets.
This will probably be finished before Binky though.
impressive as always
It’s incredible how far your fabrication skills have come 👏🏻
Cheers man!
I've watched you guys since you started this project and all I can say outstanding fabrication !!!!! That car is going to be a supercar for sure !!!!! Also I'm a pickey old fart and I couldn't see anything to pick apart !!!!! Great job guys !!!!!
Cheers Don, really appreciate the continued support! 🔥👍
most aftermarket throttle cable brackets have a floating connection to manifold. Thus, when you pull on the cable, it remains perpendicular to the direction of the pull. You can see where your cable will cut into the soft aluminum housing as it goes through its travel.
Or position the bracket holding the cable housing further away from the throttle body, thus reducing the change in angle that the cable will experience as the cam on the throttle body rotates.
@@simonscott4603 he did that already - you can only go back so far given the rotation of the throttle body linkage.... I feel the biggest problem with the rub is it gets aluminum building up on the cable - so it will start to stick after a few thousand miles due to aluminum fouling the stainless wire. YMMV, I'm anything but a pro but that's been my experience.
You know I've seen a throttle bracket before that swivels, but I've only just clued into that feature. Not spending the $80 for it, but maybe we'll have to build a version 3.0 sometime! 😅
@@FanatikBuilds it's a stud tapped into the side of a nut held in place by a nylock nut....
Just amazing, what you are doing.
Cheers:):):)
Really glad you're enjoying it! ✌️
Ah more brackets you can never have enough of them nice to see you back again when are you going to fit the Turbo 😂 Regards from Liverpool
Haha, I think the last thing this car will need, is more power! 😅 But a small turbo (at least for the sound) would be fun someday! 😬 Cheers from Ontario Canada Denis! 🇨🇦
