  • The owner of this JDM EP3 blueprinted his engine and made 270bhp. He now needs some decent stopping power and has gone for Spoon Sports' Monoblock Calipers. Not only that, he changed almost everything else in the braking department. What a difference it makes now.

    Love a good brake upgrade. I went from the stock calipers on the Liberty GT to Brembo 4 pots at the front and 2 pots at the rear. My god do that light up well. Since then I have wanted to go bigger. Thinking about AP racing Caliper or Endless caliper. But they cost so much.

  • @Elldeeve
    @Elldeeve Před 5 lety

    on a new brake install i use a bleed bottle just like you have but i half fill it with new fluid, hold it upside down and crack the bleed nipple, and fill the caliper before tightening the brakeline up saves 10 mins pedal pumping :)

  • @JamieR1988

    I'll never understand why people do the engine first. You should always start with handling mods. A good set of tyres, brakes/pads and decent Suspention will improve acceleration, handling, braking and actual speed. You'll be able to corner faster, brake later and get out of corners quicker. With just engine mods your car will more than likely end up slower and just dangerous as the standard parts are not designed to deal with extra power.

    • @dannyDC2
      @dannyDC2 Před 7 lety +6

      Some people would prefer to say their car has X horsepower, rather than to improve the way it drives. Those who like to drive cars will always invest in the handling first. You have to remember some people just like building cars, and aren't that interested in the drive. It's a shame but it's true, I've met a lot of people like this...

    • @Kristoffelsson
      @Kristoffelsson Před 6 lety

      I dont disagree, but there are lots of reasons for engine(power) mods. Intake+exhaust+chip/program/ecu are easy bolt ons too and give lots of sound and sporty feeling. Like my ep3 made 242 on flywheel with AEM, DC Sports and Hondata. True you cant put a lot of that in use until after you go so fast that wheelspin stops. But you get many more advantages with Hondata too. Such as launch control, adjustable vtec point, adjustable rev limiter. I had no more money for any more mods but was happy. I still used good tires and break pads+fluids, but no LSD, bigger brakes or suspension mods.

    • @tomnorris1734
      @tomnorris1734 Před 4 lety

      I can totally agree with that.
      I drive a Dc5, on a decent set of coil overs but stock apart from that. Took it for a driving weekend in wale and the limiting factor was definitely the breaks. Even though its on the standard brembos I overheated the breaks a few times and had to stop to cool them down. Definitely in need of upgraded pads, braided lines and new pads when pushing on.

      Hey Stephan, thanks for the comment and support 👍 I've tried the DS2500 and to be honest, they are only slightly better than the yellow stuff but useless on track for my driving. I use race pads on my S2000, and although they squeak like crazy, I haven't come across anything close to it's performance. It just depends on what you will be using the car for.

      I mean it's got 270bhp, so idk, the standard brakes mightn't be good enough for that kind of power. Better safe than sorry anyway.
