If I recall, the phrase "It's on like Donkey Kong" was also conceived by fans, and Nintendo bought the trademark to that phrase for the release of Donkey Kong Country Returns

My prediction is that they save Galaxy stuff for the final of the trilogy. Rosalina will be in 2 but only at the end to set that up
IMO they will bring the worlds of every game together....like not one game/series for one/each movie....

One big thing Mario Day has going for it is (at the moment at least) that it can be used to Manufacture hype without the audience knowing what to be hyped for. This year they just went and told us that we should be excited for Mario Day and it could have been anything, they could have shown us either Hotel Mario 2 or the Switch 2 and they would be a captive audience without much risk of disapointing people due to the History of Nintendo doing very little on Mario Day

I’m really happy that Paper Mario TTYD was announced to be released way sooner than I expected. I still want to see Mario Parties 4-7 get remade or brought to the NSO, gamecube was definitely my childhood.

I'm Kind of hoping the 2nd Mario film is a spin-off prequel about DK or a Luigi's Mansion movie. But if its a sequel, I want it to be mixture of World, Wonder, Galaxy1 and 2 and Yoshi's Island where Yoshi is just running Rampant on the streets Jumping on cars and eating pets. Would also be cool to have a scene where Bowser fuses with his castle and becomes that Stone statue from 8.
I would imagine the reason they didn’t do a Mario Direct is they didn’t want to get expectations too high. Too many people might expect to see a new 3D Mario. This way was better for me personally because I had no expectations.

I think it's worth noting that aside from the mention of it broadening the world, they never once refer to it as a sequel. They only say it's a "new film in the world of Super Mario Bros."
I would HATE if Mario went "multiverse". Nintendo is above that. Hopefully "broadening Mario's world" just means more Mario stuff and less "real world" New York stuff

We saw daisy’s kingdom on the map in the first movie so I feel that could play a part in the story but who knows maybe we’ll see something completely new not even from the games

My big pipe dream is that the new Mario Movie can give more pulling power to a new Wario World-esque game in the way it did for Peach, or a true successor to DK64 in an open world Donkey Kong game.

the news wasnt that big we knew they we gonna make a new movie and that paper mario was gonna come out . they could of added they could of made shoes based on the movie
I may be in the minority, but I have no problem with no major games coming to Switch after Luigi's Mansion 2 HD. After 7 years of the Switch I have about 200 games and at least 30 of them I haven't even started (they were on sale and I want to play them eventually). I'm 44, married, and work full time. I can't keep up with all the great games already available on Switch.
It seems the general consensus is that people want that “typical Lego set” for Mario. I’m sure both experiences could coexist just fine.

As a huge lego collector and fan, this is not “lego style”, leaks happen but normally a few weeks-in advance, not years….
And we NEVER had any insider information or hint.. then a nearly 18 month lead? Not legos game… this is nintendo instruction all over it

10:54 we have been in this position before. Last year. I remember you both wondered if anything was left for Nintendo because nothing was announced after mid year. Then Nintendo announced a bunch of bangers. You never know what Nintendo has up it sleeve... Again
The difference between this and a normal year is the swirling rumours surrounding a once-imminent-and-now-likely-next-year new console. Nintendo is definitely going to be banking their big games for a strong first year with the new console. That said, I do expect one or two medium-to-big surprise announcements for this year.
@@Zen.Connection again, same thing last year. We were all expecting a new console announcement last year since nothing was announced after mid year last year.
@@paparick6234 I disagree that it's the same thing. There are actually multiple credible reports this time all corroborating the situation. Before that there was really only speculation, which is borderline meaningless and was taken as such by most people paying close attention. Not so this time.
@@Zen.Connection I dunno. I remember when the Switch Pro was a thing for a while, and the source of that was Bloomberg/ Jason Schreier. We just got the OLED Switch instead. Last year, there was also that manufacturer of parts for the Switch that said a new console would be coming out in 2024. There was the event where Nintendo supposedly showed of the new console behind closed doors and nothing came of that either. These current rumors have a chance of being wrong too. Maybe Nintendo is going to do the full 10 years like originally planned. Who knows. My point is the last few years there's been a new console rumor and so far nothing solid has even come out. The last two years specifically, it seemed like Nintendo had nothing left to release, then boom, a bunch of good first part titles are out, and on time for the holiday. Let's see what happens... Again.

Guys, they haven't even shown you a sneak peek of Metroid Prime 4 yet.
There will be more games announced throughout the year.
Stop falling into this premature Switch 2 hype. You're just gonna "Switch Pro" yourselves into insanity.
Switch 1 is not done yet. Nintendo can take their time before putting out Switch 2.

Krysta is so worried about Nintendo's momentum when the whole industry is collapsing around them.
When a console maker is forced to put their games on direct competitors' platforms, that is an admission of defeat. Both XBox & PlayStation are going 3rd Party in one way or another.
Nintendo REMAINS Exclusive to their own platform. They only have peripheral games on Mobile.
Games that either cannot be done on their platform like Pokémon GO or games that promote the main platform like Pikmin Bloom & Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
You won't find the direct sequel to any of their franchises on PC or Tablet PC AKA Mobile.
Final Fantasy is having a crisis right now while Pikmin has broken its niche status.
Switch just had an ANNOUNCEMENT of Pokémon Legends ZA & sales went up in Japan.
PlayStation 5 had Final Fantasy VII Rebirth do almost nothing to change PS5's fate in Japan.
All this worry is for nothing. Nintendo is almost unchallengeable by anybody right now.
Mobile did not kill them. PlayStation cannot kill them in 8th Gen OR 9th Gen. XBox kills themselves.
Steam Deck or any of the Handheld PCs won't kill them. So who's left to force Nintendo into 9th Gen?
NOBODY. Nobody but themselves. They'll move to 9th Gen when they're good & ready.
Until then, we got some games to deliver in the STILL-RUNNING 8th Gen for Switch 1.
Switch 2 can wait. All they have to say is the sequel to Mario Kart & it's a wrap.

Switch 2 delays does not sound good from any direction.
Was the bar too low and they had to rethink and rush a boost in power?
Are expected features missing and they're crow barring them in just to ensure it's well received?
Are parts unobtainable and they've had to fully rethink it confusing developers and rushing design?
I appreciate these are all worst case scenarios but we've been here before and oh-so-often in means something bad 😔

It’s so hard for me to care about the Mario voice. I know it’s iconic but all the games are not about Mario’s voice. It’s all about the gameplay. But I guess people really care about this stuff.
