- In this second video of our What Why When Wednesday series we explain why we just LOVE OFFGRID and FREE camping in SWEDEN. In FIVE points we explain what we think are the things that make ALLEMANSRÄTTEN so amazing.
We are Sabine and Marco, and together we are living in a converted VW Transporter (by Tonke Camper vans). This camper van is all we need as a very Tiny House on wheels for our sabbatical Journey. And we call ourselves 010camper.

Allemansrätten has to be one of the best things about Sweden! We love off grid camping, and this law makes it so easy. Love it!

I live in Poland and am considering camping in Sweden this year. Thank you for sharing your moments - it looks so peaceful. Only 10 million people live in such a large country. A lot of nature to admire, thanks to Allemansratten. Amazing!

Thanks for making this video and sharing what Sweden offers off-grid campers - incredible! Are the location of these facilities mapped (particularly lavatories) so you can find them easily? If so, can you please advise who provides the best source of this information?
Hello Roy, wow what a nice and constructive comment and question, thanks! To find toilets in Sweden was very easy, every hiking trail, every beach, every fishinglocation, just about every public facility has a public toilet (many times nothing more than a hole in the ground with a wooden shelter around it, but it works perfectly). When you need more specifics you can use www.park4night.com but please note that they do not have every spot mapped, although we have found them the best to use. @@uglysjourney het enige wat nog moet gebeuren is een diesel standkachel (Planar 2d) en een maxxfan, op dit moment kan ik ongeveer 1.5 week vrij staan, ik zit er nog over te denken om op korte termijn de camper ook winterhard te maken maar dat komt eind van het jaar. Tot die tijd lekker reizen en plannen maken.

But: The fresh an clean water will just be like this, when you stop using soap bathing in it.
Hi Dirk!! Thanks for your kind words! And I think you might like to know that we only use bio soap ;-) because we do not want pollution in the nature!
A good way is to rinse off the soap 10-15 meters from the water (depemding on the terrain), so the ground filters the water before it goes back to the lake.
BTW: Allemansrätten is a nordic consept. Basically same rules apply to all nordic countries with very small variations. You are free to enjoy the nature, as long as you don't disturb others, don't harm animals or plants, clean up after yourself and leave the place as nice as it was when you arrived.
@@uglysjourney I'm not an expert but check, what even biosoap does to the water.
Why not wash yourself standing in a tub and ceep the water in a greytank. Then go swimming in the lake/river.

Hi Dirk, thanks for letting us know! We also care very much about the nature, so we checked the internet and found the following:
"Just because you're in the backcountry doesn't mean you have to sacrifice all sense of hygiene. You can clean up a bit. And you can do it with eco-friendly biodegradable soaps, which are void of phosphates, surfactants, triclosans, and antibacterial ingredients that wreak havoc on natural waterways."
Would you agree?
Its nice more tourists come, but please adopt a swedish mindset and behaviour in nature and on our roads. Dont take your countries problems here, dont behave like at home.
Thank you for sharing your concern. Indeed "when in Rome, do as the Romans do....." is the same as "when in Sweden.....". But perhaps you could give an example of what tourists do and what Swedes would never do? Would be appreciated!
@@uglysjourney Swedes act like assholes too, ESPECIALLY those from Stockholm that come up here for holiday...but for example never throw trash, dont make fires where they are not supposed to be (in norway its fire ban all summer in the whole country, everywhere), dont blast loud music and ruin the quiet if theres other campers within hearing range, dont fish without a license unless sure its free for all in that place, dont throw cigarett butts (buy a pocket ashtray at OKQ8 gas stations they are great), dont scream and be obnoxious anywhere at any time no matter where you are or what time of day or if its indoors or outdoors, we hate that. And remember to respect personal space, dont get right up in peoples faces and talk super loud or touch strangers, dont sit next to a stranger if theres other places available. The normal stuff, just common sense. When in Sweden, pretend its Japan and you get the social rules.
